Hold On
Ryou sat on the chair in Seto's den. In the adjacent room, they could hear people talking about Hayden and his untimely passing.
The only sound in the room was the ticking of Seto's 15th century Grandfather Clock. The only movement was its gold
pendulum, swinging back and forth within the glass case.
Ryou watched Seto leaning on the mantel, his hands gripping the marble fireplace.
“Seto…….”
Seto lowered his head and shook it. “I don't know what I'm going to do.”
“You do what you can for yourself now. You are important.”
Seto turned, his face red from his effort to shield his true feelings. “Me???! Me?! I have KaibaCorp to practically rebuild,
Ryou!” he screamed angrily. “Hayden and that bastard group cost me employees! Property damage! I lost Hayden! I LOST
MY OWN SON, RYOU! HOW CAN I POSSIBLY TAKE CARE OF MYSELF NOW? I have a husband who needs a new liver! I also
lost Alex! ALEX! That old man did not deserve to die where he did nor how he did! He deserved to die in his own bed! He
didn't deserve to be slaughtered!”
“I'm sorry, Seto. I don't know what to say,” Ryou said timidly.
“There's nothing TO say!” He growled angrily at Ryou.
“Seto, if you don't take care of yourself, you won't be able to take care of Joey or your business,” Ryou said calmly.
Seto paced the oriental carpet. “I have no time for myself! I am not important! My people and my husband are!”
“Seto, you can't sacrifice your own health for someone else! It doesn't work that way.”
Seto narrowed his eyes at Ryou. “I'll make it work! I've made it work before!”
“You're going to drive yourself to a heart attack if you don't take care of yourself!”
The CEO crossed his arms. “I don't matter. My business matters.”
“Seto, we've been through this for years. You have to take care of yourself. You're not alone. You have people to help you.”
Seto sat in the black leather chair. “No. I can't burden anyone with the way that I feel and the things that are going on in my
own personal life. I can't talk to Joey about how much it upsets me that he has….cirrhosis. I can't talk to him about the
problems I'm having bringing KaibaCorp back to its former glory.” His clenched fists hit the arms of the chair. “And I can't
discuss Hayden's death with him. He has enough going on in his own head right now. He's too sensitive right now. I don't
want to bother him further. I mean, Ryou, I have to keep an eye on him for the next several days that he doesn't relapse
into a drunken stupor. I have to keep my guard up.”
Ryou leaned forward in his chair. “Seto, he's your husband. You have to be able to talk to him about what is bothering you.
He loves you. He'll listen.”
“And risk making him more upset than he is? Ryou, I can't do that.”
Ryou stood up and approached Seto. He kneeled in front of the CEO and took his hand. “Joey loves you with all his heart.
This is a time for both of you to heal together.”
Seto looked into the chocolate brown eyes in front of him. “I don't know, Ryou. I don't want to burden Joey.”
Ryou rubbed Seto's hand. “Distancing from each other will help no one, Seto. You suffer together…you heal together…just as
you have both done before.” Ryou leaned in and gave Seto a kiss on the cheek. “I know you can do this together.”
Seto lowered his head and looked down at the hand that was rubbing his gently. Ryou had such a gentle touch…..
A touch…..
That he felt when the flashbacks hit him.
Seto looked into Ryou's eyes.
Those eyes…..
They were familiar….
From his flashbacks!
Seto heard a ringing in his ear. His head began to swim…..
*******Flashback******
Seth opened his eyes and saw Rayna kneeling between his legs, her stomach large with her child.
“My dear, Seth…..do not worry. I'm certain this child will be the son which the pharaoh has demanded.”
“The pharaoh is becoming more impatient every day.” Seth reached down and touched his pregnant wife's belly. The child
within her kicked.
The High Priest smiled. “May this be the baby who will save Egypt from Pharaoh Yami.”
Rayna smiled up at him and stroked his cheek gently. “My child will be Egypt's liberator, my beloved Seth.”
Seth smiled and rubbed her belly gently. He leaned over and kissed his pregnant wife on the lips deeply. His tongue slipped
between her lips.
*****End Flashback****
Seto moaned into the kiss and heard a gentle moan. Seto opened his eyes and found himself rubbing Ryou's stomach and
kissing him deeply.
Seto's fingertips brushed over the birth scar on Ryou's lower belly.
The CEO pulled back slowly. “I…I'm sorry, Ryou. I ….I don't know what came over me.”
Ryou smiled. “Don't worry, Seto. It's not like this is the first deep kiss that we've ever shared.”
“I know it's not…but…I had another…flashback to Ancient Egypt.”
Ryou nodded. “I opened my eyes during the kiss and saw you…dressed in a white robe with gold.”
Seto looked at Ryou's lips and reached up to stroke Ryou's soft, tender cheek. His blue eyes looked into the brown depths
of his friend. “I never realized…..that you have always played such an important part of my life.”
Ryou smiled and leaned forward, laying his head on Seto's chest. “It's believed in many parts of the world that the people in your life now, have always been a part of your life in one form or another.”
Seto pet Ryou's hair gently. “Is that what you believe?”
Ryou nodded. “I do. What about you?”
Seto buried his fingers in Ryou's hair. “I don't know what to believe. I don't believe in anything I can't see or touch.”
A knock sounded on the door and Seto gave Ryou's forehead one last kiss.
“Come in!” Seto called out.
Aria walked into the den. “Is everything okay?”
Ryou stood up slowly. “Yes, dear, just talking to Seto. Maybe I should go check on Joey, Seto.”
Seto stood up and walked to the window. “Yeah…good idea. Tear him away from the grave for a few moments to come in
here and eat.”
Ryou nodded. “Okay. Aria, how are you feeling, dear? Do you need us to drop you off at home after dinner?”
Aria nodded. “Could you please, mom? I'm feeling really tired and I have to bathe Kai.”
“Okay, dear. Just tell Marik when you want to leave.”
Aria smiled. “Thank you, mom.”
“I'll let Marik know we're dropping you, Umi, and Kai off at home.”
Aria watched her mother close the door behind him. “Seto? How are you holding up?”
Seto kept his eyes focused on the lawn outside. `If I keep my eyes focused on the lawn, I won't have another flashback with
Aria.'
Aria approached Seto. “Seto? Are you okay?”
The CEO felt the familiar hand on his shoulder.
He turned his head and saw Aria looking at him, concerned. “What?”
“You're quiet. Did your talk with mom help?”
“Yes. I always enjoy our time together. Your mom is a very important person in my life.”
Aria smiled. “I know.”
“Maybe you should go back to the party.”
“I wanted to check on you…..Seth.”
Seto turned his head. “What did you call me?”
“My High Priest…..”
Seto's eyes widened. `Oh no….she's having a flashback!'
Aria's hand reached up and touched Seto's chest. “My husband….”
Seto stepped back. “Aria…I can't. I'm not your husband. Umi is your husband.”
Aria's smile disappeared and she touched her stomach. “Do you think of me differently because I carry your child?”
“Aria, that baby is not mine. The baby's father is Umi.”
“I carry your child, Seth. The baby within me is your child.”
Seto backed away. “No, it's not.”
“You are denying your son?”
Seto swallowed hard. “You never told me you were having a baby boy, Aria.”
The teenage girl smiled up at Seto. “I am, Seth. This baby will be the boy for which you have longed to have me bear for
you.”
“Aria, Umi is your husband. Think. Remember Umi? Kai?”
“I only know you, my dear, dear Seth,” Aria smiled as she walked slowly towards Seto.
The CEO backed away slowly. “Aria, please…..think! Umi is your husband! Kai is your son!”
“You are my only husband, my lord,” she said with a smile. Aria reached out and took Seto's hand gently. She put his hand
on her large belly. “This is your baby boy….our son…the heir to the throne of Egypt,” she said with a smile.
Seto felt the baby move under his touch. His head began to swim again.
`Must…try to stop myself.'
Aria leaned into Seto's lips and smiled. “This baby will be the next pharaoh of Egypt.”
Seto's head began to spin and felt him lose control of his body. He rubbed Aria's stomach and pulled her into his arms.
“My wife…..”
`I can't stop myself!'
Seto slipped his tongue between Aria's lips and rubbed her belly.
`Must…stop….myself!' Seto said to himself.
Aria whimpered into the kiss and pressed herself against Seto. `Why am I doing this? I like Seto, but I don't love him like
THIS!'
Seto's kisses trailed down the side of Aria's neck. His hand slid down Aria's body and rubbed her hip.
“Aria…….”
“Seth……”
Seto's kisses slipped down to her collarbone as she let out a moan. The CEO kissed the front of her chest.
`I have to stop!' Seto screamed to himself.
`I can't pull back!' Aria thought.
Seto kissed up to Aria's lips again and looked her in the eyes which resembled her parent's. Seto saw the same glistening in
her mother's eye.
Aria's eyes widened. “…….Uncle Seto?”
Seto's vision cleared. “Aria?”
Aria stepped back. “….Oh gods…it happened again.”
“What?”
Aria swallowed hard. “I thought….I was lost in memories again…from our past.”
“Aria, I tried to fight it.”
Aria nodded. “How far do you think this is going to go, Seto?”
Seto put his hands on Aria's shoulder. “I will never hurt you. I will never let anything happen to you.”
The girl looked up at Seto, her face suddenly pale. “Thank you, Seto. I tried stopping myself. I really did.”
“I know, Aria,” he said, hugging her.
Aria stepped back from her hug. “Umm…maybe we shouldn't…hug.”
Seto stood, astonished. Aria had never backed away from him before.
“I don't think it's a good idea. We don't want….this to go further. So, I think it's best that we watch ourselves.”
Seto nodded. “I guess you're right.”
Aria shuffled uncomfortably. “I…I'm sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable.”
“Same here, Aria.”
Aria laughed a little. “I came in to check on you. I remember now.”
“I'll be okay, Aria.”
“Everyone is wondering where you are. Donny was concerned about you, but he said he wanted to give you your privacy.”
Seto smiled. “And you come in here to check on me?”
“I've never been one to hold back,” she winked at him. “I'm the rebel, remember?”
Seto snickered. “You're a rebel, alright….You're nothing like your brother.”
Aria smiled. “My brother isn't a bad guy. He never fought back. I did.”
“You got in trouble so much for fighting.”
Aria grinned. “Yes, but nobody messed with me. I wouldn't let them.”
Seto nodded. “I know. Your mother didn't know what to do.”
Aria laughed. “Oh, I bet! I was a handful! Well, I take after my father, mostly. It's no surprise I wouldn't take any shit laying
down.”
Seto smiled. “I know, Aria. Thank you for checking in on me….”
Aria nodded. “Well, I was concerned about you. You've had a hard day. After mom gets back from checking on Joey, we'll
go, I guess. If you need anything, uncle, don't hesitate to call me.”
“I won't hesitate,” he said with a faint smile.
Aria smiled. “Hang in there, uncle.”
Seto watched Aria leave and returned to the mantel. He placed both hands on the mantel and stared into the fire silently, his mind racing.
********************************
Ryou peeked his head into the tiny mausoleum. Aten was sitting by Joey.
“Un-tle Joey, Hayden wouldn't want you to be sad for him. He would want you to be happy that he isn't in pain anymore.”
Joey crossed his arms and kept his eye on Hayden's name plate.
“This life is too short for us to hold a candle for others. We must hold our candle for ourselves and make good use of the
time we have.”
“I know….I just never expected Hayden….to die.”
Aten nodded. “Everyone dies, Joey. I know Hayden wouldn't want you to be upset and sitting out here alone. He would want you in the home celebrating with others.”
“Why celebrate?”
“We have to celebrate the good that Hayden contributed to our lives….and Alex. That's what's important now.”
Joey sighed and rubbed his eye.
“Joey?”
Joey lifted his head and saw his friend in the doorway.
Ryou looked up as he saw the blue sky becoming covered in clouds. “Joey, come inside. It looks like a storm is coming our
way.”
Joey turned his head and stared at Hayden's plaque. “I still want to stay here.”
Aten stood up. “Hello, mother. I didn't see you there. If it's raining, I should get going. I can't get sick.”
“We'll be in there soon, baby,” Ryou said as Aten walked by. “Joey,” Ryou said calmly as he approached the blond. “You
don't want to get sick.”
Joey leaned over and buried his face in his hands. “Ryou, I can't…..”
“Can't what?”
“Leave!”
Ryou put his arm around Joey. He sat down beside the blond. “Joey, I know Hayden was a special part of your life. He was
very special to you. You can't stay here.”
“I don't want to leave my boy.”
“I know you don't want to, Joey. It's hard to let go. I can't imagine what you must be feeling right now. Hayden's in a better
place, Joey. He's got his parents…and his sister. I bet you he's playing with his cars. Joey, I bet you he's finally found
peace.”
Joey turned his head and looked at Ryou with large, brown, bloodshot eyes. “Peace?”
Ryou smiled and nodded. “Yes, Joey……peace.”
The blond lowered his head and sniffled. Ryou pulled Joey against him as the blond rested his head on Ryou's shoulder.
Joey wrapped his arms around Ryou and trembled.
Ryou held the blond quietly, allowing Joey the comfort he needed. “I think you and Seto need to spend some time together.
You need each other now more than ever, Joey.”
Joey pulled back and sniffled. “I know, Ryou.”
Ryou stood up. “Come inside, Joey,” Ryou said as the marble step to the mausoleum was being tapped by the rain. “You
don't want to get sick.”
Joey rubbed his red eyes. “I guess you're right.”
Ryou helped Joey to his feet. “Take your time, Joey. If you ever need me, I'll always be here for you.”
“Thank you, Ryou.”
Ryou smiled. “Anytime….let's go get something to eat.”
*************************
Seto and Joey hugged Kai as he left with his mother and father. Seto hugged Ryou as he left.
“Thank you, Ryou.”
“No problem, Seto. We'll check up with you at KaibaCorp tomorrow to see if you need anything.”
The CEO hugged and kissed Ryou's cheek. “Thank you, Ryou. Take care.”
“We will.”
Aten hugged Joey. “I hope you feel better, Joey.”
“Thanks, Aten.”
Robbie gave Joey a hug. “Hang in there.”
Seto closed the door as the last of the guests left.
Joey sighed. “I'm going to go take a bath…..”
Seto watched Joey leave. `Maybe I should be with Joey….Ryou was right.'
The CEO followed Joey to the bedroom and heard the water running. “Mind if I join you, Puppy?”
Joey shrugged and peeled his shirt off of him slowly. “If you want to.”
Seto slowly removed his clothes and grabbed two towels and washcloths. He placed them at the edge of the tub.
Joey entered the bathroom slowly and slipped into the warm water. He leaned back against the edge of the large hot tub in
the bathroom. The blond let himself relax as the hot water rippled against his skin.
Seto slipped into the tub beside him and relaxed against the side. “The reception went well today, Joey. The food was good.”
Joey looked down into the water and flicked it with his fingers. “Yes….The sandwiches were good.”
Seto looked over at his husband and tilted Joey's face towards him. “I love you, Joey.”
The blond's eyes filled with tears and he shifted closer to Seto. The CEO pulled Joey onto his lap and reached for the washcloth. Seto lathered the washcloth with soap and washed Joey's back. “It's okay, Joey……Everything's going to be okay.”
Joey sniffled and relaxed against Seto's body as he felt the washcloth run up and down his back…..and around his shoulders.
Joey whimpered as he felt his husband kiss his neck.
A shiver crawled up his spine as he felt Seto's tongue trace the curve of his ear.
Seto's washcloth rubbed Joey's shoulders and around to his chest. “Doesn't this feel good, Joey?”
Joey pulled back and bit his lip looking at Seto. “Yes….it does.”
Joey reached over and grabbed the second washcloth. He lathered it up with soap and began washing Seto's chest. The
washcloth roamed down to Seto's stomach and around his shoulders.
The blond watched the soap suds crawl down his husband's body and float on the water's surface.
The blond moaned as the washcloth dipped below the water and wrapped around Seto's arousal.
Seto moaned and slid the washcloth under the waterline. He released the washcloth and stroked Joey with his hand.
Joey leaned over and kissed Seto on the lips. His tongue slipped into the CEO's mouth and lapped at his lover's tongue
inside.
The CEO deepened the kiss and wrapped his hand around his own length. The two men moaned as Seto stroked them
together.
Their bodies trembled with their dual pleasures…..
The CEO kissed and sucked lightly on the blond's neck.
“Joey,” Seto whispered.
Joey let out a last whimper and thrust against Seto's soft hand.
“Seto….”
Joey whimpered and kissed his husband deeply.
The CEO thrust into his grip and moaned into his husband's mouth.
Both men released hard into the water, their bodies rocking and trembling together as the water splashed around them and
out of the tub.
Seto wrapped his arms around Joey and held him close. “Hold on to me, puppy….”
Joey held his husband tightly and shivered. “I don't want to let go.”
“You don't have to, Joey….we can stay here as long as you wish.”
