Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Are you really an angel? ❯ Chapter 1 ( Chapter 1 )
A/N: O.O I can't believe I'm writing another fan fiction when I already have 2 others in the works. What can I be thinking? Oh well, blame it on the intense writer's block I'm having while writing my DBZ fiction. Oh yes, and my increasing interest in Yu-gi-oh…^_^ hey…it ain't my fault that those guys are so cute!! *grinz*
Ok…ANYWAY… I'm sorry if I happen to be unknowingly copying anyone…*sigh* so SORRY!! Bleah…fine. Another note is that since I don't want to write a Yaoi story (not that there's anything wrong with it, but I just don't want to write one), not all the guys will have a girl to be with. Hey…it's not my fault they don't have enough nice girls in the story…-_-
Oh yeah, and if anyone can think of a nicer title…I'll be happy to hear your suggestions! Or if you think my title is fine as it is, then tell me ok? Thanks!

Are you really an angel?
A young angel sat on a fluffy white cloud, looking down at the earth. From where she was, everything was a beautiful green, with occasional shiny patches that could be seen wherever the sun managed to escape the canopy of leaves and be reflected by the stream below. It was a peaceful scene, with everything quiet and tranquil, and definitely a huge contrast from the inner turmoil that the angel was feeling.
The angel wrapped her wings around her. These magnificent wings were her pride and joy, a pure, snow-white colour in contrast to her dark brown eyes and her black hair that flowed down to the middle of her back. In fact, it was because of her wings that she was named-Suno [snow].
A slight movement came behind her, and then arms were wrapped around her waist. She knew who it was without having to look behind her, for the presence was so familiar and comforting. Sighing, she leaned back against the boy behind her, allowing him to wrap his own silver wings around her.
"I'm sorry, Yugi. I really should be stronger than this," Suno said sadly, but was stopped when Yugi squeezed her lightly.
"Don't worry Suno, it's ok to cry, especially at a time…like this…" his own voice broke slightly, and he buried his face in the girl's shoulder.
Suno turned slightly so that she could hug the boy behind her. She too began to cry as she hugged him, and the two clung to each other at the memory of Yugi's dead grandfather.
---------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------
Suno stood next to Yugi, her wings folded back so that if one did not know where to look, it could be considered invisible. All the angels present had folded their wings back, both to conserve space and as a sign of respect.
On Yugi's other side stood his best friend, a taller blond with brown eyes and a pair of dull white wings. He had a hand placed on Yugi's shoulder, in an effort to offer comfort and support. On his other side was a brown-haired boy with eyes that were an even darker brown and slightly transparent wings. He was taller than the blond, and his head was bowed in respect and sadness.
On Suno's other side stood an even younger girl. She had shoulder length hair and brown eyes. Her wings were much smaller than those of the others, and were dull white as well. She was crying into Suno's side, her arms clutched around her waist.
Beside the girl stood another boy, the last of that tight group of friends. His silvery white hair was the same colour as his wings, and his brown eyes were a great contrast to them. He stood a slight distance away, with eyes lowered in sadness.
Yugi glanced over to the girl beside him. She also had her head lowered as soft music played in the hall at the memorial service of their great leader. Yugi remembered what she had confided in him the night before…
~~Flashback~~
"I don't know what I'm going to do, Yugi. When you become the leader, what will they do with me? Although you are directly related to `Grandpa', I'm not. I'm just adopted…"
Yugi had tried to comfort the girl. "Don't say things like that, Suno. Even if you're just adopted, you're the only family I have left! They won't be separate us, Suno. I won't let them."
~~End flashback~~
Now Yugi looked as another angel, the Senior, came towards them. In his hand, he held the headband that signified the status of a leader. He remembered clearly when this same angel had come to his house, looking for his grandfather. Although he was only four years old, he still remembered that day clearly…
~~Flashback~~
"Sugoroku, my leader," the Senior's face was serious as he faced the leader of the angels in the hallway of his house. "I found this little girl at the edge of the clouds. It looks as though she was abandoned, though by who I do not know."
Sugoroku had frowned at this piece of information. "Interesting…could it be that there are still angels out there whom we know nothing of?"
"I do not know that either, leader. But I was wondering…"
"Leave the girl here, my friend," Sugoroku had known exactly what the other angel wanted. "She will be brought up as my own granddaughter, and I'm sure Yugi here wouldn't mind." The smile Yugi had was bright, happy and extremely excited.
~~End flashback~~
"Yugi, you know why I am here, don't you?" the Senior's voice pulled him out of the happy past and into the here and now.
"I do, Senior," Yugi replied calmly, gently removing Suno's hand that had been gripping his arm like a vise. Jounouchi gripped his shoulder once before the blonde pulled his hand away, and Yugi smiled up at him gratefully. "Thanks for the encouragement, Jou," he whispered, before following the Senior to another room where he would be crowned the Leader of the Angels.

The black winged demon leaned against the walls, staring at the fire that flickered in the fireplace of his home. To say he was bored was a huge understatement-he had never had so little activity happening in his life as what had been going on for the past week. His amethyst eyes stared at the fire, willing for something, anything to happen.
As if on cue, a knock came to his door, and he pushed himself away from the wall and walked towards it. Pulling it open, he came face to face with the two others who he spent the most of his time with.
"Seto, Bakura," he greeted them both with a nod, and stepped aside to let them enter. The former had cold blue eyes and brown hair, and as he entered, he pulled his jet-black wings to his body. The latter had silvery white hair, brown eyes and brown wings. As he entered, he nodded back to their host, and then followed Seto into the house.
The first demon closed the door, and then followed them into his living room, where they had seated themselves. "What brings you here?" he asked them. Although curious, his voice sounded extremely bored and lifeless.
Seto smirked at him. "Don't sound so down, Yami," he said. "We've got some news for you. That uncaring leader of the angels, Sugoroku, just died. Apparently his grandson is going to be the new leader."
"Sugoroku died?" Yami was surprised now. "Well, it's about time, that old man is too old to be any good to anyone. But he has a grandson, huh. He's probably just as cold-hearted as that old lout was. No matter, the sooner we get rid of them all, the better it will be for the world." Turning around to face the fire once again, he spoke. "Send for Anzu and Mai immediately, Bakura." The demon nodded and left the house on his mission.
From his comfortable position of the couch, Seto eyed his leader. "What are you thinking of doing, Yami?" he asked the Leader of the Demons. "Surely you're not going kill them all, are you? That would only be something those angels are capable of."
Yami grinned. "And what made you think I had a heart? But no Seto, we're not going to kill them…we're just going to get some ransom…"

Suno sat on the riverbank, her legs dangling in the water and her wings pulled to her back. She always came here whenever she needed to think, and now was one of those times. `Here' being a calm river in the world of the mortals.
Although she had told Yugi some of her concern about being separated from him, yet she had not told him everything that had been happening to her. Even the young angel had to keep some secrets, and this was one of them.
After Sugoroku's death, she had been hearing voices in her head. Not just one inner voice, and not something that the mortals called her conscience. No, there were many voices, voices that spoke of things she did not know of, yet they all came back to one phrase.
Remember who you are, Suno…
Remember who she was? What could they be talking about? And who WERE they anyway? She was an angel, an orphaned angel, but still an angel. Was that not who she was? She knew her adopted grandfather never told lies, and he had told her what he knew-that she was an angel. So what could they be talking about?
Suno sighed as she swirled the water with her fingers. There hadn't just been voices; there had been dreams as well. Dreams that were filled with magical things: of certain weapons and groups of people coming together to form one. Yet she did not understand any of it, and to tell the truth, she didn't know if she would ever understand.
With a sigh, she pulled her feet out of the water and stood. She had to get back home soon; Yugi would be worried if she went home late. The girl was staring at the water so intently that she did not notice the two shadows behind her until it was too late. Then there was a sudden pain in her neck…and no more…
