It was a Sunday night at 14 year old, Bobby Jengson’s house. He knew that tomorrow he would start going to Battle Palace, a new dueling school. They gave each person their own deck, so he wouldn’t have to bring his own cards. While thinking about this, Bobby turned out the light and went to sleep.
Bobby took a deep yawn and stretched when he awoke the next day. He could barely sleep knowing about the dueling school he’s going to today. He quickly got a shower and got dressed. He woke up his mom with loud noises, telling her to drive him to the school. She gave Bobby all of his stuff and drove Bobby to Battle Palace.
Bobby and his mother approached a huge building, with statues of monsters everywhere. “We’re here!” Billy exclaimed as they approached. Bobby’s mom dropped him off. “Have fun Bobby, and be sure to call if you want to come back.” She said. Bobby simply nodded as he was running up to the entrance doors. Two large men stood in front of him and gave him a duel disk and a deck. “We’ll lead you to your opponent” One of the guards stated.
“Already? I didn’t even get to see my deck yet!” Bobby shouted. “There will be time for that in the duel.” The second guard stated.
When Bobby entered the arena with his opponent, the guard stated, “This duel will determine what your rank is in Battle Palace. There are 3 ranks. Drone Squad, Battle Squad, and War Squad., from worst to best. Now let the duel commence!”
“So what’s your name kid?” Bobby asked. “I’m Derek and I’ll be pleased to take you down!” the kid responded. “Alright, you can go first.” Bobby stated as Derek nodded and both players launched their duel disks.
Bobby: 4000
Derek: 4000
Derek drew his 6th card and smirked. “Alright Bobby, I’ll start things off small for you! I activate Revival of Dokurider! This is a ritual spell card and by discarding monsters that are equal to 6 stars, I can summon Dokurider” And I’m discarding End of Anubis for a total of 6 stars! Now rise up Dokurider(1900/1850) in attack mode!!”
A large skull-like create on an odd motorcycle appeared onto the playing field.. “That does it for me” Derek said.
“Yikes,” Bobby whispered to himself as he drew. “Pretty good for starting out small.” Bobby looked through his cards, none of which he had seen before. One card Bobby had noticed was Gear Golem the Moving Fortress. “Woah, 2200 defense points.” Bobby thought to himself, then stated aloud. “ I summon Gear Golem the Moving Fortress(800/200) in defense mode! Your Dokurider can’t get through this defense! Your move!”
Derek drew a card. “Maybe Dokurider can’t, but others can! Activate Monster Reborn to bring back my End of Anubis! (2500/0) Now End of Anubis, attack Gear Golem with shadow wave!” The large piece of machinery exploded into black pieces. “Now Dokurider direct attack with Cyclone Spinner!”
Bobby: 2100
Derek: 4000
“My move!” Bobby yelled as he drew. “Activate Dark Hole! Which destroys all monsters on the field!”
“No!” Derek screamed. “I’m not even done yet,” said Bobby proudly. “I summon X-Head Cannon (1800/1500) and attack you directly with Plasma Cannon Burst! Then I’ll end with a face down.”
Bobby: 2100
Derek: 2200
Derek drew. “Not bad Bobby, but not good enough! First I summon Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands!(1400/1000) This monster lets me search for any ritual spell or monster from my deck and add it to my hand.” Derek swiped a card out of his deck and shuffled it, placing it back into the deck slot. “To continue my turn, I activate End of the World! I now sacrifice my Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands and my Sonic Bird from my hand to summon, King of the End - Demise! (2400/2000) And he has a special ability. By giving up 2000 of my life points, I can destroy all cards on the field except my King of the End!” Yelled Derek.
Bobby: 2100
Derek: 200
“I chain Waboku to his effect! Meaning I take no damage during this turn.” Bobby laughed. “Whatever.. I’ll finish you next turn. I end.” Derek replied.
Bobby drew. “I summon Reflect Bounder(1700/1000) in attack mode! Now if you destroy him, your getting hurt too. I lay a card face down and end.”
Derek slid a card off his deck. “I activate Pot of Greed, which lets me draw 2 more cards and I’ll use one. Earthquake! This spell changes your monster into defense mode, so his effect is useless! Now King of the End, attack Reflect Bounder with Collateral Crush! That does it for me.”
“Alright, my move,” Bobby stated as he drew. “Shining Angel (1400/400) In defense mode!”
“Well I draw and activate Fairy Meteor Crush on my King of the End! Now you take damage equal to the attack of my King and the Defense of your Angel. King of the End, Collateral Crush!”
Bobby: 100
Derek 200
“Now I get Z-Metal Tank(1500/1300) from my deck and summon him to the field.” Bobby said. “I’ll lay a card face down and end.” replied Derek.
Bobby drew and smirked. “Now I summon Y-Dragon Head(1500/1600) in attack mode. And Also, I activate Monster Reborn to bring back X-Head Cannon! But I’m not even done yet, I fuse them together to make XYZ-Dragon Cannon! (2800/2600)”
Derek scowled. “I activate Ring of Destruction! This destroys your XYZ and we both take 2800! Meaning.. It’s a tie..”
Bobby: 0
Derek: 0
The guards then spoke. “Now your ranked on the Drone Squad. Hand over the test decks.” Bobby blinked. “I thought these were our actual decks..” The guard chuckled and shook his head. “Please, you start off with a weaker deck. These decks are some of the best in the academy. You both get 5 Battle Frontier Booster packs. You will build your deck from those and report to your Squad meeting tomorrow at 8 a.m.”
The two boys nodded their heads and handed over the decks as the guards handed them their 5 Battle Frontier packs. One of the guards then stated. “Take those cards to your rooms and open them. You are not to trade cards with anyone else in your dorm. If caught, you will be expelled. Both your dorms are in G-22.”
“We have to share a dorm?” Derek interrupted. “Yes, your sharing it with Bobby and Tanya Meliso. So go up to your dorm and prepare for tomorrow. You have a big day awaiting you tomorrow.” The guard replied, gave them the key, and then walked off with his partner.
“So... looks like we have to share a room Bobby.” Derek said as the boys walked up to their dorm.
As the two boys approached their dorm, Bobby pulled out the key from his pocket and unlocked it while stating, “Well, here we are.” They both entered the large dorm room and saw 2 bunk beds. “Haha, nice room.” Derek said as he threw his packs onto the bottom bunk of the 1st bed. “Yea it is.” Bobby retorted as he tossed his packs onto the bottom bunk of the 2nd bed.
Bobby took one of his packs and ripped the wrapper open, pulling out the 10 cards in the pack and reading them left to right: Zombyra the Dark, Riryoku Field, Dice Jar, Pot of Greed, White Magician Pikeru, Giant Orc, Cemetery Bomb, Second Goblin, Earth-Hex Sealed Fusion, and the card that caught his eye.. Jinzo. Bobby screamed in joy, “YES I GOT A JINZO!!”
He then opened the rest of his packs and finished his deck, when an average sized girl walked in. Bobby and Derek gazed up at her, as Bobby said, “You must be Tanya Meliso?”
“Yup, that’s me.” she quickly replied. “I already built my deck on the way here. I can’t wait to test it out tomorrow morning.”
“Cool,” Bobby said. “I’ll test mine out tomorrow too.” “Me three!” Derek butted in.
Tanya hopped onto the top bunk. “Well I’m off to sleep now, see you guys in the morning.”
“Wow, she sleeps early.” Derek said. “Yea, but I think I’m gonna go to sleep too. I can’t wait to test my deck.” Bobby replied.
Soon everyone was fast asleep...
