Vengeance
============================

Isenstein Fortress, Midgun, Norselands…

"Ah, the Gods have blessed us with a fine day for our journey south! Isn't that extravagant, Sigurd?" Brynhild cried happily, raising her hands to the sky which was crystal clear, the sun melting down the packed snow.

Sigurd seemed skeptical. "Brynhild, you know I don't want you going on this journey. You could get yourself killed!" He replied with Aslaug under his arm.

Brynhild furrowed her brow at her husband. "Sigurd, Arkantos and Atem have called on us for our help! And now you're saying you aren't allowing me to go? What tripe!"

"We are only concerned for you, mother." Aslaug said softly.

Brynhild sighed. "Aslaug, you know very well of my past. Just because I am mortal now does not mean I can be easily destroyed. I called upon Reginleif and Svava at dawn yesterday for their help. They are arriving from Valhalla (1) with the other Valkyries very soon."

Out of the blue, three dwarves named Brokk, Eimitri and Njord came trotting down to the Queen of their land. Dwarves weren't commonly sighted in Midgun unless they had volunteered to work in the town centre - severing herd animals, harvesting berries, cutting down trees for wood or ploughing farms. There was a small mining town to the north upon a hill called Mjolnir where all the dwarves dwelled, earning a living on mining gold and beautiful gemstones. They came to Midgun frequently to trade their gold and gemstones for food and wood to keep their small dwarven town running along smoothly.

"Why hello Brokk, Eimitri, Njord… what brings you all down here?"

"We heard of the newcomer, the ally from Egypt!" Njord said.

"We wanted to give him something so as never to forget our wondrous land." Brokk added.

"Well that is a wonderful idea!" Brynhild smiled. "What do you have in store?"

"Well, while Eimitri here was mining in the mines yesterday, he hacked out a large blue sapphire from the cave wall!" Njord cried.

"It was about the size of my fist before I cut it down!" Eimitri said, gesturing to his hand, clenching it up into a ball.

"Marvellous! Could you show it to me?" Brynhild asked.

Brokk dug around in his coat pocket and pulled out a medium sized wooden box with carvings in the lid. He pulled off the lid, and inside, was a large, upside-down pear-shaped inky blue sapphire, cut to perfection, sitting in a wad of melted gold encrusted with tiny white diamonds.

"Oh it's simply beautiful! Atem will be so grateful! I will let you give it to him before we leave on our journey to Roma. Will you stay here until then?"

"As you wish, m'lady." Brokk replied.

"Excellent. Now I must ready myself for the journey, time waits for nothing!" Brynhild ran back into the fortress, carrying her dress above the slushy, melting snow as she went.

~*~ …Atem's POV… ~*~

"My Pharaoh?"

I would recognize that voice anywhere. "Yes, Isis?"

"Kastor is readying your horse for you, and the men are about ready to go."

"And how are you traveling?"

"I am riding upon Arkantos' horse, with him, your highness." Isis replied.

Atem smiled. "I can tell you and Arkantos have something with each other, Isis."

A crimson glow crept to Isis' cheeks. "W-what do you mean, your highness?"

"I can see it in your eyes, Isis. You and Arkantos have a love like no other." Atem replied. "And I will not stop you from loving one another."

The shocked look upon the young Priestess's face faded and she burst into a smile. "Oh thank you your highness! Bless you under the name of Ra!" She cried.

Atem smiled. "Come. We must go to mount our horses for the journey ahead."

Together the young Pharaoh and the Priestess stepped out of the fortress and onto the slushy snow to where the Greek armies had prepared their cavalry and militia. Kastor was buckling up Atlas' saddle securely for Atem's mode of transportation. Arkantos was already mounted on his horse, patrolling the area, keeping his men in line. The Egyptian mercenaries were also readying themselves, as was Vladimir and the Norse army.

"Priestess Isis, may I offer you a ride?" Arkantos asked as he trotted up through the snow to Atem and Isis. Isis blushed and took Arkantos' hand and slipped on behind him.

Soon Kastor rode up on Arion, leading Atlas at his side. "Your highness, I have readied your horse for you."

Atem nodded as Kastor came to a halt. "Thank you, Kastor." Atem jumped nimbly onto Atlas' wide back and wrapped his panther skin around himself tighter. The sun may be shining, but it was still bloody freezing.

Suddenly there was a loud rumbling sound, and a large, round portal in the sky opened up. Atem stared with wide amethyst eyes at this remarkable occurrence. About nineteen or twenty beautiful, blonde-haired women came riding down from the heavens on white horses, galloping in thin air, their horses snorting and whinnying. Each woman was holding a different type of weapon, and their armour glowed many different colours.

Brynhild soon came riding up on her pure white horse - Ingeborg, in full armour, holding a spear. "Reginleif! Svava! How are you my sisters?"

"We are awakened and ready for battle, my lady!" Svava replied.

"Alright, but before we venture off on our journey, I would like to present Atem with a special gift from our people." Brynhild replied, and the three dwarves stepped forward.

"King Atem of Egypt," Brokk started. "We have forged this gift for you, to remember your journey to the Norse. To you, we offer this gift under the name of Odin, in our remembrance."

Slightly bewildered, surprised and flattered all in one, Atem bent down from the height of Atlas' back to take the wooden box from Brokk's hands. Opening the box, his eyes went wide as oranges at the gigantic sapphire, lined with diamonds and gold that sat on the velvet plush. He picked up the majestic gemstone and held it up to the light. It glinted with the same magical azure as Set's eyes did during the summer.

"Thank you Brynhild, Brokk… I cannot thank you enough. This sapphire is simply beautiful." Atem replied.

"'Tis the least we can do for your presence in our land of Midgun, your highness."

The ride back through the cold northern countries wasn't as bad as it had been riding north. Atem was glad that things were finally progressing, and also to be heading south where it was warmer again. Set would soon be in his arms again. He knew it. The goddess Isis had told him that Set was still alive, and for all the gold in Egypt he took her word for it.

8 days later, Roma, Italia…

With Arkantos, Brynhild, Atem and Kastor leading, followed closely behind by the nineteen Valkyries and the thousands of soldiers, the siege began. Atem was wearing armour of steel, iron and bronze, and held in his clasp a giant sword, forged by the dwarves at Midgun. His horse was heavily defended with chain mail also. Atem shook nervously atop the giant grey steed but stayed strong. Dante's blood would soon be shed.

Dante obviously knew of their coming. Atop his castle he waited, watched, looking down upon the tens of thousands of militia coming to destroy his empire, to take back what was rightfully theirs. Celeste's eyes widened when she noticed Brynhild leading her army of Valkyries. Celeste had once been a citizen of Midgun. In fact, she had been their ruler before she was taken captive by the Romans and made to wed Dante. Now was her one chance at freedom, and by gad was she going to try.

"So the Egyptian King ventures to new lands!" Dante bellowed from atop the highest point of his castle.

"Give me back what fairly belongs in Egypt you heartless, cowardly man!" Atem shrieked.

"I'm afraid that is simply not an option, you see. I have over five thousand militia and cavalry waiting to hurtle their spears through your hearts behind these citadel walls of mine… you simply won't have a chance in Hell." He laughed smugly.

"We can end this without a fight, Dante. Or we can do it your way, the hard way." Arkantos said as his horse danced around on the spot.

Dante sighed. "You Greeks really don't learn, do you? Much less the Egyptians… and is that Brynhild I see down there? My, my… fancy seeing you here?"

Brynhild sneered at him. "You will not come out of this alive, Roman!"

Atem suddenly thought of Set. Set was behind those walls, under the ground Atem was standing on, even. The thought drove him to insanity. "CHARGE!!!!!!!!"

A huge roar was heard from the thousands of men behind Atem and the others. The Valkyries took their cue and galloped off into the sky, firing arrows tipped with fire or poison. Arkantos held his sword up into the air and held the reins in his other hand and dug his heels into his stallion's sides, urging him into battle.

Suddenly the gates of the citadel opened, and hundreds of men, dressed in red and silver armour, flooded out into the streets. An overwhelming feeling of helplessness came over the juvenile Pharaoh as he stared in horror at the death that was raging toward him. Brynhild came to his side.

"Follow me! We'll take the castle! The others will fight the battle for us while we take what we need most!"

Atem nodded and took after the blonde-haired woman upon the striking white horse. A flurry of Roman guards emerged from their station at sight of seeing the enemies galloping toward them.

"Use your sword, Atem!" Brynhild cried from in front.

Atem gulped and prepared his weapon. With one great whack, he decapitated a Roman, sending his head flying to the ground like a melon. He nearly vomited on the spot at the sight of the repulsiveness of it all.

"This way!" Brynhild shrieked when the way was clear.

Atem and Brynhild dodged the fleet of arrows from the towers of the citadel coming their way and dismounted their horses, making their way inside. Brynhild practically annihilated every guard and Roman that came their way, but Atem put in a good effort too. They soon made it to the throne room where Dante was watching the battle in the streets.

"You get Set, I'll deal with the pig." Brynhild said.

Atem nodded and ran off to where he guessed the dungeons would be. He had no idea, but it looked like he took a good guess. "Set?!"

"Atem… you have come for me…" Set replied weakly, grabbing onto the bars across his cell for strength.

Atem sliced the padlock in half with his sword and ran into the cell and flew into Set's arms. He frowned upon feeling the wounds and lumps and bumps in Set's skin. "What have they done to you…?" Atem whispered.

"It doesn't matter… Atem, we have to get Oceania out of here. She's dying and-"

"Set? Who are you talking about?"

"He speaks of me…" Oceania replied. "I must return to the ocean… please help me…"

Sunset…

Thousands upon thousands of corpses lay upon the ground, staining the ground with their blood. Dante had surrendered, being the coward he is---was, rather. Atem collected back the Sennen Items and placed the Puzzle around his neck once more. As for Oceania, she returned to the Tyrrhenian Sea - her homeland - with many thanks to Set. Celeste returned home to the Norselands with Brynhild once Dante was destroyed, once the deed was done.

Reinforcements arrived from Greece a short while later to take the Egyptians back to their beautiful homeland. Atem wondered how Mahado was holding up taking his place as the Pharaoh for the time being. He also wondered what would happen when Isis would part with Arkantos.

"I've never had to kill anyone before, Set."

"It was for a good cause, Atem." Set replied to the pharaoh, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.

Atem tilted Set's chin up. "I love you Set."

"And I you." Set replied, before dropping into slumber once more.

Atem rested his chin upon the brunet Priest's head and closed his eyes. The journey was finally over, but what a journey it was. Encountering dwarves, a hippoma-whatever-it's-called, centaurs, minotaurs… Murdering people just so they would get out of his way. But then… finding Set… it had to be the most rewarding experience of his life. He nearly cried. All he was thankful now is that Set was safe, in his arms, and that they were going home. Nothing mattered now. Bliss was restored.

"Thank you Isis… thank you."

JG: OKAY so you didn't get to meet any giants or trolls… but there were dwarves right?! ^^;; sorry if that chapter sucked… but anyhow, I hope you liked it just the same! By the way, this ISN'T the end of the story yet… what's a story without LEMON?!

Yami: Don't torture me! I NEED lemon!!!

Seto: *squirts a raw lemon in his eyes* There you go.

Yami: ><;; IT BURNS!!! OH RA WHAT HAVE I DONE TO DESERVE THIS?!

JG: Okay………while the modern day Yami Yuugi and Seto Kaiba burn each other's eyes out with lemon juice, I might just end it here. Ja ne!

(1) - Valhalla: is the realm in the skies in which the gods and goddesses and Valkyries dwell in… kinda just another name for Heaven.

Updates: Soon hopefully, not so sure what to put in it though.

Next chapter: All I can say at this point is that there will be a sad break-up scene between Isis and Arkantos XD and possibly a lemon between Atem and Set.
