The Tremere prince sat on the corner of his dark cherry desk, wearing his traditional black shirt, leather pants, two studded belts, and a golden pyramid around his neck.
Through the dim candle lighting in his office, he looked at his apprentice, whom looked greatly like him only with bright eyes of innocence. With his best friend beside the young teen on the couch. Yami set his wine glass down beside him on the desk before he started again. “Though out the world’s life, there has been turmoil. Whenever Gia, thought she would be in danger she purified herself. Some would call this the end of the world only its not. Just a very quick population control, known as the apocalypse. First it was the extinction of dinosaurs and then the black plague, but as you know now there are two races of men. The living and then us; undead and cursed to walk the Earth. When the Apocalypse does come who will be left standing? The ones that lived in peace with her? Or the ones that caused harm?”
The young teen looked down at the floor wondering were he was going with this, his golden bangs flipped back as he looked up at his master. “The peacekeepers.” Yami nodded and smirked. Yugi looked in to Yami’s eyes, his crimson eyes struck fear in to him at times, yet they could show compassion. “Now, you may have noticed the weather changes, and human behavior, its going to happen again and farely soon.” Joey sighed and let his head fall backwards on the couch. “Look Yami, I’ve dealt with this longer than you if there is an apocalypse coming... this is the slowest damn one I’ve ever seen.” Yugi snickered at Joey’s comment, then realized something was different. “I thought you were from New York?” Yami fidgeted slightly shifting his weight on the hard wood, turning away as Yugi played detective with him. “Yugi, when we die, we don’t remember who we are or where we come from, the only ones that do know are the malkavians. So really this life that live throughout the centuries we get a wonderful opportunity to rewrite our lives. Until the day we find one that fits, you on the other hand were lucky. I’ve been keeping an eye on you your entire life, so when you woke up it just seemed like a temporary amnesia, instead of a three year transformation process.”
Yugi stood up abruptly, “Three years! You mean I lost three years of my life and didn’t realize it, and you’re just telling me this now! You told me it was three days!” Yami took him by the shoulder gently to calm him down. “Tell me the truth Yami what is really going on here?” The writings that have been passed down to us have showed us two survivors, born on the same day, time, and will be turned at the same time. Yugi you are one of them.” Yugi shook his head thinking he missed heard him. “Me?”
“Yugi, you are the chosen one that will return human again. You’ll be able to taste solid food, to walk in the sun without fear and have the power to have kids.” He held his breath and closed his eyes hoping Yugi didn’t see it. He slid off the edge of the desk and stood in front of Yugi. “This however, comes with a price Yugi, if you should fail or lose your humanity even slightly, you will die. We will help you as much as we can, but there will be those who will try to convert you to this lifestyle or even kill you before you make it.”
Yugi looked at him, trying to be as stern as Yami. “What if I decline?” Yami nudged his head slightly, Yugi looked over to Joey. The blond lowered his head, “Sorry Yug.” He reached in to his coat and pulled out a handle of a gun. “I have my orders.” Yugi closed his eyes and lowered his head slightly. “Either way, I’m dead...” Yugi’s voice lowered. “I have no choice... I accept.”
