Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Bokono Kurai Akumi ❯ Bokono ( Chapter 1 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

I swear sometimes I want to spell Yugi's name with one 'u', and others two 'uu's. Garishnak!

"Yugi, no!!"

Yugi stood straight, looking squarely at Jou.

"Jou, one of us has to survive, to keep fighting. I have that choice now and Jou, I could never do that to you." There was a sad determination in his eyes and some other emotion that Jou couldn't decypher. His hand went to the Puzzle that lay on his chest. Not where it belonged. He could feel the magic of the spirit inside as Yami tied to fight his way to Yugi.

*~There's another world inside of me that you may never see.
There's secrets in this life that I can't hide.
Somewhere in this darkness there's a light that I can't find.
Maybe it's too far away, yeah.
Or maybe I'm just blind...~*

//Yugi! Aibou!?// Yami screamd in his soulroom, hoping to reach his hikari before it was too late. The last little shreds of their link were fading, but he heard Yugi's faint reply.

*~Maybe I'm just blind...~*

/Yami, koi. Aishiteru. Fight for me and win love./ Yami fell to the floor, eyes streaming.

//Aishiteru Hikari... Koi...Aishiteru.// The puzzle's energy faded and Jou looked to Yugi.

*~So hold me when I'm here, right me when I'm wrong.
Hold me when I'm scared, and love me when I'm gone.
Everything I am, and everything in me,
Wants to be the one you wanted me to be,
I'll never let you down, even if I could,
I'd give up everything if only for your good.~*

"Jou, take care of my puzzle for me. Red Eyes, aim your attack at me!"

He closed his eyes and smiled a little as the attack knocked him off his feet. His life points hit zero, opening Jou's box. There was a groan heard as the sixty second timer started it's continuous tik-tik-tik.

*~So hold me when I'm here,
Right me when I'm wrong.
You can hold me when I'm scared,
You won't always be there,
So love me when I'm gone.~*

Everyone gasped as Yugi looked up. They could barely hear him when he spoke.

"Jou, free yourself. I need you to protect my puzzle. Your sister Jou, she needs you. So many need you. It's alright now. I'm okay with this. Please Jou..." He coughed from the dust.

"No Yug! I can't just leave you!"

"Jou, p-please...please." Jou started to cry as he grabbed the key and unlocked his chains.

*~When your education x-ray cannot see under my skin,
I won't tell you a damn thing that I could not tell my friends.
Roaming through this darkness, I'm alive but I'm alone...~*

Suddenly an Idea popped into Jou's head. "Red eyes, attack me!" He cried.

(This will deplete my life points, therefore A/n: did Jou just say 'therefore'? opening Yugi's box, and giving him a chance to free himself!)

Just as the box opened, the anchor fell. "Nooo!" screamed everyone. It was almost as if it were in slow motion, the drop. It splashed and started to sink, draging Yugi off of the boards of the platform. Before he hit the water he looked at his friends, watching their horrified faces.

He was calm.

*~Part of me is fighting this, but part of me is gone.
So hold me when I'm here, right me when I'm wrong.
Hold me when I'm scared, and love me when I'm gone.
Everything I am, and everything in me,
Wants to be the one you wanted me to be,
I'll never let you down, even if I could,
I'd give up everything if only for your good.
So hold me when I'm here, right me when I'm wrong.
You can hold me when I'm scared, you won't always be there,
So love me when I'm gone.~*

Yugi hit the cold ocean water and was quickly pulled under. He stared at the fading light of the sun.

(It's so cold... So dark...)

His lungs burned for oxygen that he could not give. His body was on fire, but slowly going numb. He could feel the pressure of the depth of the water. The anchor hit bottom finaly and he drifted slightly. His eyes started to cloud over and every thing went black, but not before he saw a dark shape swimming towards him.

(Oh great, sharks.)

He wanted to shield himself, but his numb arms floated above his head. His last concious thought before he blacked out was simply, "Yami."

*~So love me when I'm gone, when I'm gone..~*

(C'mon Yugi, hold on for just another minute. Kuso! It's so cold and dark down here!) Jou was swimming as fast as he could after the dying Yugi. He saw the anchor settle and he made out Yugi drifting above it.

(Yugi!) He got closer to the small body that floated listlessly in the cold water. He noticed his face, starled to find that the little teen's eyes were still open.

(Maybe, Maybe!) He unlocked Yugi and started to drag him to the surface. He noticed a slight movement above him and saw Honda and Seto swimming down to help. Seto grabbed Yugi and hurried up.

(Why'd you do that? You could have won... Oh Ra!) He saw the teen's face. The calm, the acceptance. But the eyes. Those lifeless violet eyes... He broke the surface, gasping. He dragged Yugi to the others as Seto, Jou, and Honda got out. They then saw _him_. He lay on the ground, unmoving, not breathing.

Otogi bent down to see him closer. (Poor thing) "Should we even try?"

They all stared down at _him_. His wet hair plastered to his face, eyes open, staring at them.

"He looks so peaceful." Said Seto. They all stared at the CEO in wonder. Jou knelt by Yugi's body, tears in his eyes.

"Sorry buddy. I couldn't save you." He took the puzzle and set it on the cold and motionless chest, placing a cold, dead hand on it. The puzzle glowed and they gasped as the spirit of the puzzle appeared by his dead Hikari. He just sat there in shock, petting Yugi's hair.

"Habibi...Come back. You can't be gone... You can't..." He whispered. They heard soft footsteps behind them.

"Oh my! Wha-what happened?" Gasped Ryou at the sight presented before him. The Ring flashed and Bakura stood beside Ryou. He himself had never realy cared for the Pharoh's brat; hell, he had even tried to kill the kid one more than one occasion! But somehow he felt awful. Now that Yugi was really gone, he...he...

Ryou fell to his knees and started to cry. In a surprising show of emotion, Bakura knelt beside his distraught Hikari to comfort him.

"He saved me. Marik tried to get me to kill him, but he couldn't. He sacrificed himself." Said Jou in a quiet voice as they listened to the sobbing of the girls and Ryou.

Bakura stared at those dead violet orbs. It was as if an angel had died; leaving only dust and dull feathers.

Marik watched from a rooftop above the mourners. His other was staring at him in shock. He had killed many people; in front of Malik even, and he had never seen this side of him before.

"Why?" Asked Malik, voice low in a shivering whisper.

"Why what you insolent fool?"

"What has that _child_ ever done to you? Kill a grown man, but not an innocent child. He was a Hikari for gods sake!" Marik was taken aback by the sudden caring his other was showing.

"He was in my way. In order to get the Pharoh's power I had to get rid of him." He said stoicly. But inside he was questioning his own intentions.

(He was in my way!)

(No, he wasn't. He was an innocent. Didn't you see how bravely he sacrificed himself for his friends?) Said a voice that sounded suspiciously like that pesky concious he had tried so hard to get rid of...

(No! Shut up! He is-was nothing!)

(If he is nothing to you, then why do you doubt yourself? You probably couldn't even go down there to see him.)

(Bastard! I can, and I will!) He growled slightly.

"Come on Malik, we have some buisness to attend to." The lighter of the two simply stared in disgust as he frowned and followed the evil spirit. At the sound of two sets of soft footsteps the mourners turned to see the two approaching them.

"Malik! What are you doing here? Who is he?" Ryou asked, indicating Marik. He walked closer to his old friend and held out a hand. Malik took it and explained in as few words as possible, his other.

"He is my... Yami, I guess. He isn't really like Bakura or the Pharoh really... Its long and complicated..." They all stared at Marik, who returned the stares with death-glares.

"We saw what happened. Is everyone alright?" Asked Malik. They looked away from the two egyptians, towards the body of Yugi.

"No...not everyone..."

Marik kept a straight face as he walked closer to the dead Yugi. Malik could go no further. The sight of the dead teen and the Pharoh mourning broke his heart. Marik looked down at Yugi's face. His eyes seemed to stare straight into Marik's very soul, passing judgement upon him.

~You killed me Marik. Why? Why Marik?~

The voice seemed to be all around but no one else moved. He kneeled down to listen to Yami talk to his dead light.

"Habibi...Come back...Hikari...Habibi...Come back...." Marik reached out to touch a cold hand. Yami stopped Muttering and stared hollowly at him.

"Guardian. Is this what you wanted? Tell me, was it?"

~I'll leave it here for now... I'll post the rest later. If any of you have read "Rain and Fire" I am soonly updating that, and "Friend In Me". Have a fun return to work or school!~
