Strings was quiet - very quiet.

Malik grinned mercilessly, running his hand down the side of String's face, each finger lingering just long enough to really be uncomfortable. The puppet was nearly immobile, utterly taciturn; he might've been a corpse but for the shallow - panicked - breathing. A warm, white, trembling and naked corpse, trapped beneath an unshakeable pillar of dark sun-baked skin.

He let first one, then another cold bronze hand close slowly and certainly around the puppet's thin, pale neck, his nails pricking crescent moons into the skin. A pulse that fluttered like moth's wings beat helplessly against his fingers; Malik's smile widened as he tightened his grip and felt the pulse skyrocket.

He needed to use this puppet, and well, to defeat the Pharaoh. This one, Strings, the Silent Doll, was going to be special. This one was going to be set apart with the power of the gods - and Malik was going to be the one to bless him. He would be perfection.

Complete control. Utter obedience. No resistance.

Strings was silent.

The penetration and conquest of the doll's mind would be more effective, Malik knew, if it was coupled with a physical penetration. A distraction, something; either manner was starkly intimate and both together promised to be confounding. He probed and found his toy's mind racing, panicked, and unfocused.

Well, that wouldn't do; that last was not what he wanted. Malik wanted Strings focused - focused on the distraction. The lily-white body beneath him was his target, bare but for the metal piercings in his skin.

Ah.

With one hand still languidly resting around Strings's neck, Malik shifted and moved the other to slowly clasp the small, silver ring in the puppet's lip. Strings's eyes rolled, darted, then locked onto Malik's, terrified, pleading and absent. Another wicked grin warped his features and Malik wrenched the ring out with a vicious twist, watching the blood from the now split lip dash down the side of Strings's face.

Strings was completely mute.
