Chapter 9 - A voice in the dark

---------------------

Last Chapter: The CEO looked at Yugi and nodded, almost speechless. The fact was, he knew for a fact that they didn't make these anymore because that branch of the company was…

"Nezbitt!!!"

---------------------

"Um…excuse me??" Malik asked Kaiba, unfamiliar with the name. Yugi knew who Kaiba was talking about, and gave him a confused look.

"But…he's dead!" the small boy protested, watching Kaiba start to shake with rage.

Kaiba slammed his hand on the table suddenly, and his head was soon to follow. Yugi went behind him and patted his back comfortingly.

"Those damn idiots must have escaped…somehow…" the CEO muttered. Malik looked at Isis questioningly and she shook her head, signaling him to stay quiet.

"Look Kaiba, we'll find them and get your brother back. And Sashi too," Isis said, walking over to Kaiba. "But we can't just sit here and do nothing."

"You're right." Kaiba sat up abruptly, "Yugi, make us some coffee. And more of those pancakes."

"…Okay," Yugi nodded, and went back to the table to make more pancakes and coffee, wondering why Kaiba would want pancakes AND coffee in one sitting.

"That's not what I meant Kaiba…" Isis sweatdropped.

~The Chase~

Oh good. The master's headquarters. Kaminari sighed in relief, still managing to stay ahead of the ever-quickening motorcycle. Sashi quit yelling a while ago, and now only made sniffling sounds every now and then.

Marik also noticed the building. Oh no! They're gonna get inside and do Ra-knows-what with my Sashi!!

"Uh…Marik?" Yami's voice floated from behind him, "there's a building coming up…"

"I know that you dimwit!!" Marik growled, "that man is way too damn fast!"

Yami shut up, and tried to think of a way that he could slow the man down. Hmm…do I know any shadow magic for that?? He thought hard, and only thought of one spell that might do the trick.

"I might have found a way to stop him, Marik!" Yami yelled, and lifted himself off the seat a little to get in a clear view of the abnormally fast man. He chanted some words in Ancient Egyptian, and his third eye appeared on his forehead. Then, what seemed like a wave of purple energy was sent hurtling towards the man and Sashi out of Yami's fingers.

"That better not hit Sashi!" Marik yelled, "Or I'll personally kill you!"

"It won't!" Yami replied, a smug look on his face. That will surely slow him down. Surely enough, the wave hit the man in the back, and didn't harm Sashi at all.

What the hell is this?! Kaminari cried out in his mind, as the wave hit his back and his legs slowly felt heavier and heavier. This isn't normal…he thought as it took almost all of his energy to even lift up his legs now. I must…get her to the door…Kaminari trudged on, very slowly and painfully.

Sashi was thinking the same exact thing. What was that? Why did we slow down?? Why did it only affect him? She could watch the grass that Kaminari crushed push their way back up off the ground now, because he was going so slowly.

The door was in reach, and Kaminari and Marik knew it. Marik urged the motorcycle faster, while Kaminari reached his hand out and grasped the handle of the door firmly. He put all his weight on the shiny silver door handle, and pulled. The large wooden door of the tall building opened, and a bunch of black-clad men stepped out and grabbed Sashi.

"Ah…shit…" Marik cursed, unable to stop the speeding motorcycle.

"I'm guessing that's bad," Yami commented, watching the building approach very quickly. Marik growled, and very soon after that both Marik and Yami crashed through the wall on the motorcycle. Yami was thrown off by the blast, and Marik wasn't able to let go, because his hands were clamped down so tightly on the handles.

"So you've decided to join our little party, hm?" A voice floated through the smoke of the crash. Yami rubbed his head, and propped himself up on his other arm. Itai…that really hurt. Wonder if Marik is okay? Bah. Knowing him, he's fine and ready to kill.

"Who's there, bastard?!?!"

Yep, I knew it! Marik is fine and dandy. Yami thought to himself, getting up on his feet and waiting for the smoke to clear. And eventually the smoke did clear, and Yami saw that Marik was stuck under the remains of the motorcycle, and was unable to move.

"Yami!! Get me out NOW!!" Marik yelled, struggling for all it was worth to get out. Yami sighed, and walked over to his fallen comrade and pulled the smoking remains of the motorcycle off of him. Only then, did he have a chance to look around at their new surroundings.

The inside walls were made of a hard, steel-looking substance and was lined with intricate patterns and drawings made of gold. All around the room were pillars that seemed to hold up the building, also made out of hard steel. In the corner, there was a tall palm-tree looking plant and in the other corner was a door leading to another room. Yami tilted his head back and looked up to see a painting expertly painted onto the ceiling, and a chandelier made of crystal hanging from a golden chain. Marik didn't bother to look around the beautiful room, but instead marched straight ahead of him.

Straight ahead was a great big maroon armchair, and in the armchair was a formidable looking man with his legs crossed, eyeing them angrily. This man's eyes were pure, solid blue, which could rival Seto Kaiba's eyes in intensity. He was wearing a black business suit, and his hair was a shockingly bright blonde. His face looked chiseled out of the steel that the pillars were made of, and his mouth was pulled into a tight frown.

"Marik, Wait! Don't just charge over there!" Yami warned, shifting his eyes around the room. Suddenly, men started appearing from the shadows, seeming to form right out of the shadows itself. "Marik!!! We must stick together!" Yami caught up with Marik and grabbed his shoulder, stopping him.

"What do you mean, pharaoh?" Marik growled, finally looking around him.

"That's right. We're surrounded," Yami nodded grimly. The men stood at least a foot taller than either Yami or Marik, and all wore sunglasses.

"Ra! They all look exactly the same!" Marik exclaimed, spinning around on his heels looking around at the identical men.

"Men, get them and bring them here," The man said, grinning from the far right of the two yami's.

"Wait a second…I know that voice…" Yami racked his brain for the face that would match that sinister voice. His mind settled on one face, only one face could match that tone. "You're Nezbitt aren't you?"

"Yes, how very clever of you," Nezbitt grinned, looking both of them over with a look of hatred glinting in his steel blue eyes.

"But…you sure didn't look that way before," Yami pointed out, which made Nezbitt chuckle.

"My dear…dear child, you honestly think I would walk out into the world again looking like I did before?"

"Well…I guess not," Yami mused, while Marik started to poke him.

"Um…Yami…"

"WHAT is it Marik??"

"They're right on top of us…"

Indeed, the men were closing in quickly, and Yami yelped and clung onto Marik.

"What the hell!?" Marik yelled, trying to push Yami off.

"You're supposed to be the braver one!" Yami cried, tightening his hold on the outraged blonde.

"Hmm…very interesting indeed," Nezbitt smiled and leaned back in his chair to watch the show.

~Ryou's house~

A very sleepy white haired angel was on his way to take a nap when the phone rang.

"Kura-kun, get the phone will you?" Ryou called down the stairs, stifling a yawn with his delicate hand. The phone stopped ringing, meaning the white haired demon must have picked up the phone.

"FUCK YOU!!" Ryou heard Bakura yell angrily and the ringing sound of metal hitting metal. Ryou, suddenly not feeling so sleepy anymore, ran down the stairs and into the kitchen.

"Who was that Bakura?"

"Oh, just Kaiba. Again. Stupid pale-faced, cocksucking---"

"Bakura!!" Ryou scolded, "What did he want?"

"To go over to Yugi's house for SOME reason. I didn't bother asking." Bakura glared at the phone, as if daring it to ring again. Ryou sighed, he wondered why Bakura had some personal grudge against anyone who called on that phone. Maybe it's just the phone itself… the white haired hikari thought, while Bakura turned to looking at him instead, cocking his head to the side.

"What?" Ryou asked innocently, "Anyway, we have to go to Yugi-kun's house then. It must be important." He went over to the coat rack and put his coat on.

"But! Oh come on! That stuck up bastard is gonna be there! And…maybe even that Ra-forsaken pharaoh!" Bakura shuddered, "Do we have to go?"

"Yes," Ryou nodded, taking some money from his wallet. "You don't have to come, of course."

"Of course I have to come! Who knows what they might do to you?!" the white haired demon made frantic motions in the air with his hands. Ryou giggled, and wondered how Bakura could be so cute and so evil at the same time.

"Alright `Kura. Get your coat it's cold outside. Oh, and try not to kill the taxi driver." Ryou remembered the last time they got into a taxi, Bakura almost banished him to the shadow realm for not driving carefully enough.

"Alright! I'll try not to kill him this time." Bakura grumbled, pulling his coat on and following Ryou out the door.

~Yugi's house~

Ryou knocked on the door, and it immediately opened. A grinning Seto Kaiba, who's hair stood on end and he seemed jittery, greeted him.

"Um…Kaiba?" Ryou asked, perplexed at would make THE Seto Kaiba so happy and wild, when the call seemed so urgent and depressing.

"Get away from my hikari!" Bakura growled, pushing Kaiba out of the way and pulling Ryou into the house.

"Hiya Ryou-kun!" Yugi yelled, bouncing over and hugged his friend. Bakura was a little startled, as was Ryou, but pushed Yugi off five seconds later. Isis ran over seconds after that, apologizing for Yugi and Kaiba's behavior, dragging Kaiba back into the house and leading them all into the kitchen. Bakura and Ryou understood what caused all this.

"It was the pancakes and coffee," Malik said sadly, shaking his head.

"Coffee?! Who said coffee!??!"

"No one said coffee, Kaiba." Isis deadpanned, shaking her head also.

"Um…hi Malik," Ryou waved, after taking a seat and edging away from Yugi and Kaiba.

"Hello Ryou, Bakura," Malik said, changing his tone when he said Bakura's name, which made said demon growl.

"So why the hell are we here?" Bakura grumbled, leaning back in his chair and tapping his fingers on the table impatiently.

"Well! Sashi's been kidnapped!" Yugi practically shouted, bouncing in his chair.

"And Mokuba too!" Kaiba nodded enthusiastically.

"And you two are god damn happy about this?! By the gods you're dumbasses!" The demon stood up and smacked both Yugi and Kaiba clear across the face. "The way you're acting is disgusting me. Grow up!" Yugi stared at him shocked, and Kaiba let out a low growl.

"Don't touch me, you bastard!" the CEO shouted, getting ready to punch Bakura to death.

"Well at least they're back to normal," Bakura nodded, ignoring the angered Kaiba and sat down again.

~Yami, Marik~

"Get OFF you sniveling coward!" Marik shouted, and Yami finally let go. Another spell popped into Yami's mind, his third eye appearing on his forehead again.

"Faiaa booru*!" Yami yelled, sending a fireball into the crowd of shadow men from his hands. The bunch of men in front of Yami disintegrated, but other ones took their place.

"That's NOT good," Marik mumbled, "If only I had my damn rod…"

"No good," Yami said, casting the spell again, "we're going to get taken."

"Ah…shit." Marik cursed, and one of the men grabbed him by his arms and twisted him roughly. Yami was held down roughly as well and they were both brought in front of Nezbitt.

"Now that you're done with your pathetic resisting, why don't you follow me?" Nezbitt smirked and stood up, he was a good 6 feet tall, and walked towards the far corner of the room where the door was.

"I have a really bad feeling about this…" Yami muttered, feeling a pulsing aura coming from the door. The aura felt like it was from the shadow realm, or some evil force. I really hope Sashi's not in there…

"Welcome…to my torture chamber!" Nezbitt opened the door and led them both inside, still being handled roughly by the shadow men. The room was completely dark, and Yami and Marik squinted through the darkness for a moment, before Nezbitt flipped the light switch on.

"Oh Ra…" Marik breathed, taking a look around the room. There were many chains hanging from the ceiling and the walls, and other machines in other places of the room that the two yami's didn't even want to imagine what they did. All the manacles were empty, save two pairs in the far back of the room. From this distance they could only see two shapes, one big and one smaller.

"I bet you would have called this paradise a year before, Marik," Yami said, earning a glare from his blonde counterpart. Nezbitt only chuckled more at this, and led them down the narrow hallway, towards those two figures on the wall. Please don't let it be Sashi…please Ra, don't let it be Sashi… Yami prayed, as the light dawned on the two figures, they could see their faces…
