A/N: Not completely based on, but largely influenced by "Burn" - Usher. I've been wanting to do a Duke x Seto for a while now … lets see where this fic goes … [enjoy babe - a.k.a. Miss. Tanya Maxwell ;)].

"Shit" Duke cursed, promptly sticking his index finger in his mouth to stop the bleeding from the paper cut he had just received. Wrinkling his nose at the copper taste of his own blood, he removed his finger from his mouth, dimly watching as blood promptly started to appear from his superficial wound.

.[Like my heart].

Pushing his office chair away from his desk, he stood up and grabbed his jacket. Tired of sitting at his desk, pretending to read the stacks of paperwork before him (while ignoring the 123 unread e-mail messages waiting for him in his inbox), he decided to leave.

Leaving his office, he made his way towards the elevator. He dimly pressed the "down" button.

.[Like my thoughts].

Entering the elevator, he pushed the appropriate button to take him to the last floor - the underground parking. Loosening the tie from around his neck, he absently retrieved his car keys from his pocket, thumbing the dice key chain they were attached to. The doors finally opened and out he stepped, allowing his legs to lead him to his car without any thought. With a click of a button, he unlocked the doors and got in. Sticking the key into the ignition, he turned the key to start the engine, frowning when it made an odd spluttering sound. His eyes automatically moved to the fuel gage. He cursed again - his gas tank was empty.

.[Like my life].

Gripping the steering wheel, he lightly banged his forehead against it, chastising himself for forgetting to fill the tank.

"Too busy thinking about something," he muttered, "or someone, I should say"

Opening his car door, he got out and slammed it behind him - he was going to take a taxi home. Trusting his feet to lead him outside, he reached into his pocket once again and retrieved his cell phone. Forgetting about the prior cut on his index finger, he accidentally released his grip on it, feeling the sting of the wound re-opening.

.[Like my mistake].

He leaned down to pick up the fallen cell phone - or rather the remains of the fallen cell phone as it had cracked, rendering it broken.

To be continued …

A/N: Well this was just the prologue, so hopefully the plot will become clearer within the next chapter ... -_-;; … Stay tuned, as they say :)
