Chapter 2- Captive

The pirates slaughtered some men where they lay, and others were dragged out onto the deck. Malik leapt from his bed, shoved Ryou and Yugi into the corner, and locked the door when they heard footsteps coming down the corridor. They heard another door open, and familiar shouting.

"Kento...." Malik gasped, when they heard Kento yelling. Another voice soon joined his.

"DADDY!!!" Ryou screamed, and leapt for the door, but Malik caught him, and put him back into the corner with Yugi.

"No, Ryou! You can't!"

"NO! DADDYYYY!!!!" Ryou cried, and Malik clamped his hand over Ryou's mouth.

"Shush! If they find us, they'll kill us!" Yugi hissed, and Ryou gulped, but was silent. The door rattled, and they backed farther into the corner. With a splintering crash, the door was knocked down, and pirate entered the room, his blade drawn and bloody. Ryou squeaked, and clung to Yugi. Malik quickly stepped between the pirate, and his friends. The pirate grinned, and seized the collar of his shirt, slamming him into the wall, and lifted his blade. Suddenly, the moonlight fell onto Malik's frightened face, and the pirate gasped, and released him. He slowly backed away, and looked over at Ryou and Yugi, and his eyes grew wider. He dropped his sword, and ran from the room, shouting. Malik blinked, and looked at Yugi and Ryou, relieved and confused. A light from a lantern appeared, and numerous pirates stared, and then ran away, also screaming.

"What the bloody hell?" Bakura moaned, when the crew ran screaming from below deck. He looked at the Pharaoh, who simply quirked an eyebrow. The tall man by his side pinched the bridge of his nose, and spoke, for the first time that night.

"Pharaoh, this crew is full of useless turds." He muttered. Pharaoh smirked, and glared at the crew.

"What the hell is your problem?" He asked. The entire crew started talking at once. Pharaoh blinked, and rolled his eyes. "Never fuckin' mind...... MARIK!" The tall man released his nose, and looked at Pharaoh. "While these idiots take care of the captain and first mate, YOU go see what they're panicking about, eh?"

"Right." Marik said, and drew his twin blades, grinning at the idea of danger. He whirled, his cloak swirling around him, and disappeared below deck. Pharaoh frowned, and looked at Bakura.

"Take a few strong men, and start getting the goods loaded onto the Magician." Bakura nodded, and looked at the crew.

"Otogi, Tris, Seto, Jono." He said. "Let's go." The four young men followed the silver haired pirate.

Below deck, Marik was slowly prowling around, looking for anything suspicious. As he got nearer to the captain's quarters, he heard a soft whimpering. He rolled his eyes, and got to the door, that had been busted in. He leapt in with a shout, blade raised. He was met with three screams, and a shoe thrown into his face. He blinked, and stared down at what looked like three kids huddled in the corner. He grunted.

"Kids." He spat. "Those assholes are afraid of CHILDREN!" He sheathed his scimitars, and seized on of the kids by the scruff of the neck, and lifted him up to get a look at him. He gasped, and dropped Malik, leaping back. "HOLY RA!!!" Malik looked up, curiously, and froze, staring in shock at the pirate. Marik closed his mouth, and slowly drew closer, grabbing Malik' chin, and forcing his face up so he could better see him. After a moment of staring, he turned and looked at the two others on the floor, and his amazement simply grew. Then, he started laughing. "No wonder those idiots were pissing their pants. All right. On your feet, all of you. Let's go see the captain." Ryou looked up.

"Daddy?" He asked. Marik blinked, and then smirked.

"Sorry, kiddo. I mean, if the captain of this ship is your dad, then yeah, you can see him. And say goodbye." Ryou's eyes widened and a tear slipped down his cheek. "No, I meant MY captain. The Pharaoh." Ryou whimpered, and hid his face in Malik's shoulder. Marik rolled his eyes. "Shut up, and move it." He snarled, and shoved them into the hall. They came out on deck, and Marik shoved them to their knees. The three stared at what was left of the crew, and watched the pirates finish loading the goods onto their own ship.

"Pharaoh!!!" Marik called, and a young man, not much older than the three boys turned around. "Look what scared the crew." The Pharaoh walked over, and the three stared at the deck. Marik snickered, and seized a fistful of Yugi's hair, and jerked his head up, so he was staring the pirate king in the eyes. "How bout THAT, Yami....." Marik muttered, and Pharaoh or, Yami (d'uh) gasped. "And get a look at these two!" He released Yugi, and forced Ryou and Malik's head up. Yami stared, his mouth hanging open, unable to speak. "Bakura!" Marik barked.

"What?!"

"Get your skinny ass over here and look what I found!"

"Bloody hell, Marik....." Bakura grumbled, and stalked over, though soon, he was rendered speechless like Yami. "Bloody hell........" He gulped. Marik looked at Yami.

"What should we do with them?" He asked, drawing a blade, and holding it to Malik's throat. Yami frowned.

"There's rope over there. Bind them. Bring them with us."

"Sir?"

"You heard me. Do it." Yami said, and turned away. "Is everything loaded, Seto?"

"Yes. Now what?" The tall pirate said.

"I believe that the Lady has lost Faith." Yami said, with a smirk. "The usual, Seto." Seto nodded, and kicked open a barrel of gunpowder, scattering it over the deck. Some men took more barrels, and disappeared below deck, scattering it as Seto did. Yami smirked, and turned to look at the captain, tied to the mast, and the first mate, seemingly unconscious on the deck.

"Sir?" Marik said, and Yami looked at him.

"What?"

"This one..." HE poked Ryou slightly with his sword. "Is the son of the captain." Yami looked down at Ryou, then looked at the captain, glaring.

"Keep your bloody hands off of him!" Ryou's father snarled, and Yami smirked. He knelt, and seized Ryou by the back of the neck, squeezing the pressure points, making him yelp in pain. He forced Ryou across the deck of the ship, and up before his father. Ryou had his eyes squeezed shut, and his teeth clenched. His father strained against the ropes binding him, trying to help his son. Yami gave Bakura nod, and Bakura released Ryou's father, and Yami shoved Ryou into his arms. Ryou stumbled against his father, who caught him, and held him close. Yami stared coolly into the captain's eyes.

"Say your goodbyes. You have one minute." He said, and started barking orders. Ryou watched as Malik ad Yugi were bound and gagged, and left on the deck of the ship.

"Daddy.... What's gonna happen?"

"They're going to sink the ship, and kill the crew." The captain said, and hugged Ryou to his chest.

"What about you?"

"They are going to kill me, Ryou."

"Daddy....... No........" Rou whimpered, and began to cry, clinging to his father. "They, they said they were taking me and Yugi and Malik with them..... Why?"

"Probably because of your resemblance. Ryou... I don't know what they will do to you. Be brave, son."

"Daddy...." Ryou whimpered.

"I love you, boy."

"I, I'm scared."

"I know. Look at me." Ryou raised his gaze to meet his father's. "You, Malik and Yugi take care of each other. And mom will take care of me. Okay?" He stroked his son's cheek, and kissed his forehead, petting his hair. Ryou hiccupped, and nodded.

"I love you, Dad." He whimpered, and hugged his father.

"All right, all right..." Bakura said, and seized Ryou's wrist, jerking him from his father's arms. "Time's up."

"NO!" Ryou cried, and struggled to get back to his father, who was being re-bound to the mast. He turned, and slammed his fist into Bakura's jaw. Bakura released him, and he fell back. All activity stopped. Bakura touched his mouth, where blood dripped, and stared at the blood on his fingers. A growl began deep in his throat, and he turned, and glared down atg RYou, drawing the katana from the sheath on on his back.

"Little fucker....." EH snarled, and raised the blade.

"NO!" Ryou's father screamed and Kento leapt from the deck, and tackled Bakura.

"Keep your hands offa him!" Kento snapped. Bakura glared up at the man, then threw him off. He raised the sword, and swung it, slashing through Kento's throat. Kento gurgled, and fell over, landing on Ryou, who screamed.

"NOOO!!!" Ryou struggled out from under the carcass, and scuttled backwards, until he bumped into something. A pair of legs..... Slowly, he looked up, and whimpered, as a pirate with long black hair, and bright green eyes glared down at him.

"Otogi! Take him to the Black Magician." Yami ordered, and the pirate nodded.

"Aye, sir." He said, and wrenched Ryou's hands behind his back, tying them painfully tight, and then his ankles. He lifted Ryou up, and flung him over his shoulder, watching as the pirates left The Lady of Faith, and returned to the Black Magician. Seto lifted up Yugi, and passed him to Jono, who tossed him over the gap between ships, and into Tris' waiting arms. Malik was passed along in the same way. Otogi smirked, thinking how funny it would be if they had dropped them into the sea, and leapt across the gap himself, bearing his burden. All that was on the Lady of Faith now, were bodies, and the captain, and the pirate king, flanked by his two best men. Yami smirked at the captain.

"Any last words, or requests?" He asked.

"Yes. Please don't hurt my son." He begged. Yami's face didn't change.

"I'll do what I can, but I make no guarantees. Good evening." And Yami turned, and leapt to his own ship. Marik waved to Ryou's father, and followed, but Bakura raised his hand, and slugged the captain in the jaw.

"I make no such promises as to your son's safety." He hissed. "I'll take that boy as my personal slave..."

"Bastard."

"Yes. I am." Bakura said, smirking, and left the captain plagued with worry over his son. "Otogi. Put him down." Otogi blinked as Bakura sliced the ropes on Ryou's ankles, and set him on his feet. Bakura grabbed him and whirled him around, forcing him to watch as the ships began to drift apart.

"May I do the honors, Yami?" He asked, and Yami nodded. Bakura grinned, and took a pistol from his belt, aiming at the Lady of Faith. He pulled the trigger, and the gunpowder on the ship ignited, and Ryou screamed as his father disappeared into a huge explosion, as the ship was engulfed in flames.

"DADDYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!" He screamed, and stared in horror as the burning ship sunk beneath the waves. His knees buckled, but Bakura held him upright, forcing him to watch, until all evidence that the Lady of Faith existed, was gone, with the exception of the three young captives, unsure of their fate at the hands of the Pirate King.

"Yami."

"Marik?"

"What about the children?" The blonde asked, and Yami looked at Yugi and Malik, lying on the deck of the ship, and Ryou, leaning limply on the railing, staring at the place where The Lady of Faith had disappeared. Whimpers came from his throat, every now and then. Yami smirked. His fun for the night was not yet over.

"Let us test them." He said, and the crew chuckled, darkly. Malik and Yugi squeaked through their gags, and stared at the pirates. Ryou didn't respond, he continued staring at the sea. At least until Bakura threw him to the deck of the ship, grinning. The boys didn't have a moment to think as the pirates swarmed around them, and Ryou soon found himself bound to the mast, his hands above his head, and Bakura grinning at him, sadistically. Ryou simply scowled, and looked away. Bakura chuckled.

"This one's spunky." He said, and Yami smirked. He turned and looked at Malik at a loud yelp. Malik was being bound to an anchor, to be dragged behind the boat, but at the moment, he also had one pirate's hand between his teeth, and wouldn't let go. Yami laughed.

"If you think THAT one is spunky, take a look at THIS one, Bakura!" He called, and Bakura came over. He grinned.

"The kid's gonna take a chunk out of Kenji." Bakura chuckled. Marik grinned.

"The other one just rendered Tarou infertile." The Arab said. Sure enough, Yugi was fighting as much as he could, kicking and biting and scratching, as he was forced onto the plank. A man nearby was clutching his groin, his face distorted in pain. There was a scream, and Yami made a face when Malik spat a chunk of flesh out of his mouth, and the pirate screamed nonstop. Yami rolled his eyes.

"Kenji, you're useless." HE said, and with a shove, sent Kenji into the water, to wait for the sharks to smell his blood. Then, the crew all looked at him. He pointed to Malik, and he was dragged to the railing. Yami smirked, and looked Malik in the eye. "Ready to die?" He asked. Malik simply glared.

"Get close enough, and I'll take a piece of you with me!" He snarled, and spat out some of Kenji's blood. Yami chuckled, and moved over to where Yugi stood, petrified.

"How about you? Ready to die?" He asked. "Or would you like to beg for mercy?" Yugi gulped, trying to be brave.

"Bring it on." He growled. Yami nodded, and moved over to Ryou. He drew a dagger, and slowly cut Ryou's shirt off, baring his chest. He motioned to Jono, who brought him a torch. Yami held the blade of the dagger in the flames, and waited. After a moment, he took it out. The blade glowed red with the heat, and he slowly brought it to Ryou's chest, close enough that he whimpered at the heat he could feel. His sweat disappeared in steam under the intense heat. Yami smirked.

"How about you?" He asked, forcing Ryou to look at him. "Are you prepared to follow you father?" Ryou's eyes flashed, and to everyone's shock, spat in the Pharaoh's eye.

"Fuck you!" He snapped, and raised his knee, between Yami's legs. Yami yelped, and dropped the knife, then doubled over. But Ryou wasn't done. "Bastard!" He screamed, and kicked Yami in the nose, sending him flying onto his back with a bloody nose. Everyone stared, as Yami moaned, and slowly rolled back and forth. Marik knelt.

"Pharaoh! Yami!" Marik gasped, and helped Yami sit up. Bakura was seething. He glared at Ryou, and picked up the cooling knife. He stuck it back into the fire, until it was red again. Then, he approached Ryou.

"Little shit...." He snarled, and Ryou's eyes widened. "Die, fucker..." Ryou closed his eyes, and turned his head. Bakura laid the point of the hot blade against Ryou's abdomen, and the boy screamed at the pain. Yami looked up, and saw Bakura's muscles tensing to drive the blade home.

"STOP!" He shouted, and Bakura lowered the knife. Ryou sobbed, and gasped for breath. "He passed the test, Bakura. They all did. They showed bravery in the face of death. They live."

"But, but, he hurt you!" Bakura gasped. Yami chuckled, and wiped the blood from his face.

"He impressed me most of all. Though..... I could use some help getting to my bed." He winced at the throbbing pain in his groin, and chuckled at his own ridicule. Marik smiled, and put an arm around Yami, supporting him. "Free them all!" He commanded, and Yugi and Malik ran to Ryou, who fell to his knees, clutching the burn on his stomach.

"What do we do with them?" Tris asked. Yami blinked.

"You three." He said, and the three boys looked up. "Follow us. Bakura, c'mon." Bakura snarled, and watched the boys get to their feet, and follow Yami as he limped towards a door below the helm, with the help of Marik. He opened the door, and entered. Malik and Yugi followed, supporting Ryou between them. They looked around. It was large room, with fine Venetian decor, obviously the captain's cabin, but there was no bed. On the opposite end o the room, where the bed was supposed to be, there was a wall, with three doors in it. They were two feet off of the floor, and had small steps leading to them. The three doors were open, revealing three small rooms, about eight feet by eight feet each. And the rooms were beds. Literally. There was no floor at all. The whole room was a bed. The one in the middle was apparently Yami's, as it was here that Marik took him, and laid him down. Yami smirked.

"So...." He said, resting on the red satin. "What to do with the children..."

"We can lock them up. In one of our beds." Marik suggested. Bakura grunted. Yami smirked at him.

"They can stay in Bakura's." He said.

"WHAT?!" Bakura yelped. "Those, those, PUPS?!?" Marik and Yami snickered. "Where will I sleep?!" He demanded. Marik grinned.

"With Marik." Yami said. "I take it you won't complain." He said. Bakura glared, then, chuckled.

"Guess not. Okay, punks. C'mere." He said, and stood by his bed. Ryou slowly limped over, Malik and Yugi by his side. When they looked in, they paled, and Bakura chuckled. Marik rolled his eyes. He wasn't very fond of Bakura's taste in decor. He himself had made his bedroom look like his homeland of Egypt, with sand colored bed sheets, and the walls were tan, painted like the walls of an old temple. Candles hung from the walls, and an incense burner from the ceiling. Linen curtains covered the window that showed the sea behind the ship.

Bakura's, on the other hand, was black and was like a torture chamber, almost. Chains and leather straps and whips, and what not dangled from the ceiling and the wall was covered with weapons from the Far East. Bakura ducked in, and removed all weapons, not about to let the captives get their hands on them. Yami's room was done up in a European style, with red satin, and oak walls. Marik helped Yami out of his clothes, and Drew the blankets over his body.

"Thank you, my friend." Yami said. "See you in the morning." Marik nodded and looked at Bakura and their prisoners. He smirked, and he and Bakura tossed the three boys into Bakura's bedroom. The door closed, and locked. The only light came from the moon and stars, through the window. Ryou whimpered, and curled up in the corner. Malik pulled Ryou into his chest, as he began to cry.

"Ryou...." Yugi said, sitting by them. Ryou sniffled.

"Daddy......" Ryou moaned, clutching his chest, the pain in his heart unbearable. "Daddy....." Yugi sighed, and pulled he blankets back. Malik nodded, and lay Ryou down. He and Yugi got on either side of Ryou, holding him and comforting him.

"Malik?" Yugi asked.

"Yeah?"

"What now?"

"...... we wait, Yugi. We may get a chance to escape."

"If you get your chance," Ryou said suddenly. "I want you to promise me that you'll take it. Even if it is you, and only you. Don't worry about me."

"What?" Malik and Yugi gasped.

"We can't leave without you Ryou. I won't leave without you, or Yugi."

"Then you never will. I'm not leaving." Ryou said. "I can't. They killed my father. I will kill them. Or I will be killed. But I will no leave until it is done."

**********************

"--But I will not leave until it is done." Yami heard Ryou say. He chuckled to himself.

"Well well..." He said to himself.

"Then we will stay, Ryou." He heard Malik reply. "We won't leave you." Yami grinned.

"That's useful. They may become very useful to me." He rolled over, and closed his eyes, until he noises from Marik's bed. He banged on the wall. "Can you screw a little more quietly?!" HE moaned.

"Oh, sorry, Yami." Marik's voice said, and Bakura's followed.

"Yeah, we'll keep it down! MARIK! I meant keep the NOISE down, not THAT!!! Now let go!" Yami moaned. He wasn't sure what Bakura meant, but he had a good idea, as Marik giggled like an idiot.

"I did NOT want to hear that..." The Pharaoh mumbled, and rolled over, trying t get some sleep.
