Chapter 3: Remember My Memories
With another sigh, he sat up and placed the rose back in the vase. Reluctantly, he got out of bed and headed for the bathroom to take his morning shower. During the summertime, he’d often take relaxing baths instead, but when he showered her could think about Atemu with less chance of dr–
“Atemu?”
Atemu looked up quickly. “Yes?”
“Your answer, Atemu,” his teacher said sternly.
“...Could you repeat the question?”
There was soft laughter from the class, and the teacher did not look pleased.
“From the homework, Atemu, but by the looks of it you’ve been writing down everyone else’s answers so I’m assuming you don’t have it.”
“No, I do,” Atemu pulled it out, “Right here. I read number twelve, right?”
“Yes, but if your homework is there, then what have you been doing all this time?”
Atemu froze. He couldn’t answer truthfully, but he couldn’t avoid the question.
“I’ve been...” Atemu looked at his paper, “...Taking...notes! In case there’s a test, I’ll have organized notes.”
“Well do that on your own time, you should be correcting your homework.”
“Yes, ma’am.”

Atemu sighed heavily as he walked to lunch.
“That was a close one, pharaoh,” Yuugi commented, joining Atemu on his way. Atemu know Yuugi was talking about his confrontation with the teacher in second period. “You don’t usually get that distracted in class. Is it because Seto ignored us this morning?”
“I had at least expected a smug comment,” Atemu admitted, “But, no. I was writing.”
“Again?” Yuugi laughed. “Sorry, it’s just–”
“Man, that math test was ha~ard,” Jounouchi interrupted. Math had been their fourth period class – as usual, he had gotten out late.
“I found it easy enough,” Anzu teased. As usual, she and Honda had waited for Jounouchi. Normally Atemu and Yuugi would, too, but Atemu was distracted today and Yuugi had wanted to talk to him.
“That’s because you cheated off of me,” Anzu growled. Honda laughed innocently.
“Honda, that’s terrible!” Yuugi laughed.
“I’d expect more out of you, Anzu,” Atemu grinned.
“I didn’t let him,” Anzu whined, “At least not after I realized he was doing it.”
“Which wasn’t until near the end of the test.” Honda grinned again.
“Poor Anzu,” Yuugi smiled, “too wrapped up in her work to notice anything else.”
“Oh, stop it,” Anzu grinned, too, “Especially you, Honda. It wouldn’t be hard at all for me to go back and tell the teacher what you did.”
“Come on guys,” Jounouchi cut in, “We’re gonna be late for lunch!”

‘Why am I doing this?’ Kaiba thought to himself as he waited outside the school foor Atemy to walk by. ‘It would be one thing if I had mocked him this morning, but this is rediculous... Why can’t I–’
His thoughts were interrupted when the door next to him opened. Being Seto Kaiba, he continued casually leaning against the brick wall. As Atemu walked by, Seto decided against mocking him, but still found himself calling, “Atemu...”
Atemu blushed. The mere sound of his name on Seto’s lips was exciting, and his leather pants weren’t hiding that well. He tried to ignore it and walk on, but Seto tried again in a sterner tone, “Atemu!”
This time Atemu had to hold his breath so as not to moan. That easily, his imagination was running wild, but he fought to ignore it.
“Y...yes Kaiba?”
“Come here,” Seto ordered, “Away from them.”
Yuugi nudged Anzu and quickly she clasped a hand over Jounouchi’s mouth. Honda rarely spoke out unless Jounouchi did, so he got the hint not to start anything. Yuugi whispered, “Let it be, I’ll explain.”
Although he didn’t like it, Jounouchi nodded. Atemu walked over to Seto, while the others continued on until they were out of earshort.
“What do you want?” Atemu asked as sternly as he could. “Are you too good to attempt to humiliate me in front of my friends anymore? Would you prefer–”
“Shut up,” Seto narrowed his eyes and Atemu was rendered speechless. “I know I’ve done nothing to prove myself sincere in anything involving your group, but I’ve been feeling different lately.”
“You’re much unlike your normal self as we speak,” Atemu noted, not without a hint of curiosity in his voice. ”How exactly have you felt, and what do my friends and I have to do with it?”
“Different,” Seto repeated. “It’s all I can say.”
“Calmer,” Atemu said. “Maybe even nicer, or at least tamer.”
“As for your friends,” Seto continued. “They don’t play a part, so far, just you.”
“Kaiba...” Atemu was slightly surprised.
“I’ve been having visions. I always had them before, during any duels that you, and/or myself, took part in, but they’re more frequent now. As well, they’re sometimes in first-person view, as if I am a part of that time or place, and they feel real, like I’m partaking in the event at that moment.”
Atemu began to speak, then stopped. While he was made uneasy by Seto’s out-of-character open-ness, he was enjoying the way the teenager sounded almost as if he was seeking Atemu’s help. Seeing that Atemu wasn’t yet going to reply, Seto added, “These visions also make me feel like I’ve discovered something I lost long ago. They... they feel like...”
“Like memories,” Atemu smiled. “They’re memories of your time as my priest.”
“Right, memor– wait, what?!” Seto glared. “How dare you demean me like that! I’m trying to be nice here and you–”
“Shh,” Atemu rested a finger on Seto’s lips. He could tell by the icy blue stare that this action did not make the teenager any happier, but still it silenced him.
