Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Changing Makes a Difference ❯ Meeting and the Bet ( Chapter 1 )

First, I'd like to say yes I did get permission to use this idea after it was pointed out to me yesterday that it was like `Changing of a Slut' by Darkness.

Second, before anybody gets confused I'm going to clear it up, but if you're still confused (which is going to be kinda hard) you can still ask me questions about it or anything else you need to have cleared up. Instead of a school where you go for the day and then go back home it's going to be in a school where you stay there and only go home for summer and Christmas break if the student chooses to go. Now that that is cleaned up enjoy the ficcy!

Joey glanced outside and smiled as he saw Yugi Motou standing outside on the bridge just like he told him to the day before. He thought back to how he had ended up asking the young sophomore loner if he'd like to meet one of his friends he was sure he'd get along with, Ryou Bakura, another quiet boy.

~Flashback~

Joey looked down one of the halls as he walked by, he smiled and ran over to one of his friends.

"Hey Malik what's up?"

"Huh? Oh, hey Joey. Nothing much, but at least you didn't ask what's down." At Joey's confused look the sandy-blonde teen laughed. "Let's say I'm not as innocent as I used to be yesterday."

Joey nodded and smiled at him. "Marik finally got the guts to make a move?"

"Finally. It was one of the best nights of my life though, but it's going to be a bitch to walk around all day now."

"Wouldn't know how that feels but I'm sorry you have to go through it. I'm happy as long as you and Marik don't start acting like Yami and fucking with everybody you see or going on as much as him either. Check this out." He said handing the papers to his friend.

Malik whistled as he looked at it before choking. "That's Tea's number!?" Joey nodded, the sick churning feeling in his stomach again like it had when he saw Tea's number of tally marks on the list Yami had given him minutes earlier. "Why do you have his list anyway?"

"Don't tell anybody, not even Marik, but I just made a bet with him. I bet he had to stay with one person for two weeks with no sex."

"Think he'll make it?"

"I don't know I hope he does though. This might just be what'll help him get over this weird craving and turn back into the Yami we like."

"I don't know, Joey, you know how he thinks now. He might just go along with the bet and when it's over get whoever you picked in bed."

"That's exactly what I'm trying to not think about. It's bad enough how many people he's got and how many times on this list. Anyways, I have to go find someone before class starts. Do you know where Yugi is?"

"Yugi Motou, the sophomore?" Joey nodded. "Yeah, he's in the library. I just came from there."

"You? In the library?" Joey joked.

"Zip it, Wheeler." The junior scowled. "I had to return that crappy book my English teacher made my class read."

Joey nodded. "That's usually how those books are. What book was it again?"

"The Witch's Blob(1). The most annoying and confusing book I'll probably ever read in my life. I just hope I don't have her for my senior year or I'll go crazy."

Joey nodded and waved goodbye to his friend before hurrying off to the library. He creaked opened the door to the library and looked around.

It was mostly just used for studying when students didn't feel like working in their dorms for some reason or checking in and out books for English classes. Only the smart people usually checked out books for their own enjoyment.

The blonde junior spotted the sophomore he was looking for in a corner by himself, like usual, engrossed in a book he'd been reading since the beginning of the year. Joey looked him up and down for a minute before nodding to himself and walking over to him.

He took a seat next to the teen quietly and waited for the younger to notice rather than making his presence known.

Yugi looked up as a shadow cast over his book and nearly falls off his chair if Joey hadn't grabbed his arm and held him up.

"Th-thank you, Joey." The young sophomore stuttered out. He glanced at a clock and then back at Joey. "I better go, I don't want to be late for class." Yugi packed his book into his over-stuffed book bag and started to head for the door.

"Yugi wait!" Joey called after him and earned himself a glare from the nearby librarian. He ignored her and smirked as he saw that the teen had froze by the door and was obviously waiting to get picked on or yelled at for something again.

Joey felt sorry for Yugi and tried acting his nicest towards him even if they weren't friends. He wanted to but Yugi didn't seem all that interested since he also shadowed himself from others. He walked over to Yugi and pushed him out of the library gently so he wouldn't get in trouble by the librarian again, not in the mood for another detention that week and so soon in the morning.

"Hey, Yugi, are you always alone like that?"

Yugi hesitantly nodded his head, looking at the ground and kept stealing glances at another clock hanging on the wall nearby.

Joey gave him an apologetic smile even if the younger wasn't looking. He kneeled down and hugged the boy, gently so he wouldn't scare him. "I'm sorry for scaring you like that in there. I didn't mean for you to think I was going to hurt you."

Yugi was startled about the hug but accepted the apology all the same. "It's okay. I-I was just expecting the librarian to tell me I had to leave for class or something like that." He whispered, stepping back from Joey and starting to head down the hall for his first class again and was again stopped by Joey, only this time it was his hand around the other's thin arm.

The sophomore looked back around at Joey slowly, seeing him thinking about something before he smiled. Wondering what the older was thinking about he decided to wait a little longer.

"Yug, how would you like somebody to hang around for a while? He won't take advantage of ya or nothin like that and will treat you real nice."

Yugi smiled excitedly at the blonde. "I would love nothing more!" The usually quiet and shy teen shouted happily. But then remembering how he was tricked in the past many times before with something like that he added quietly, "What's the catch?"

Joey shook his head, not insulted by the question since he knew the other teen had been lied to about the same thing numerous times. "There isn't one, I promise ya. Just meet them at the bridge tomorrow right after lunch. Stay there until somebody shows up just in case they're late or something holds em up."

Yugi smiled at the older student, hugging him gratefully. "Thank you, Joey. This means a lot and I trust you." He said quietly before finally being able to leave for his class.

Joey smirked after him before heading out to his next class where he could tell Yami where to meet the person he's supposed to be with for the next three weeks.

~End of Flashback~

Him and Yugi weren't friends, more like acquaintances who talked whenever Joey was board and was around him. Yugi was quiet and shy, but still a very nice person and he liked to play games or read whenever he was alone and not doing homework.

Their argument from the previous day had started in the morning at the breakfast table. He and Yami used to be best friends for the last few years of their school life. They'd gone to school together before they entered the seventh grade and had been going to school together since. Then, after the first year at the new school, Domino High, during the summer, Joey had gone on a vacation for the whole summer and hadn't seen Yami until school started again, but when he did he couldn't believe it.

Yami had changed completely over the summer. He was once really nice to everybody and had lots of different friends, Joey Wheeler being his closest. When he came back to the school for the sophomore year though Yami had had a complete turnaround change to him. He now swore more than he used to and even when it wasn't necessary and he wore leather in all of his outfits somehow from a tight buckle shirt or jacket, pants or shoes.

The biggest change of all though was Yami went from not thinking or wanting anything to do with sex until he settled down with somebody, boy or girl, and knew they were going to be together for a long time if not for the rest of their lives to a sex machine that couldn't get enough going from one person to another.

It had been going on for two years and now they were in their third and junior year in high school.

Joey sighed as he thought back to the argument and then the bet that he'd had with him that he'd only told Malik about.

~Flashback~

"No way! You wouldn't last a day!" Joey Wheeler yelled at his once best friend.

"How the hell would you know?" Yami Hitokage shouted back at the blonde.

"Because you're always sleeping with somebody every night and that look in your eye every single night before going to bed proves you can't get enough of it!"

"Fine! I'll prove it!"

"I bet you can't stay with somebody for three weeks with somebody without having sex with them!"

Yami didn't hesitate when he answered. Just smirked and said, "You're on, Wheeler."

"I pick the person. Give me a list of who you haven't had sex with."

Growling, Yami opened his almost never-used-for-school backpack and ripped a few sheets from his notebook. The papers at a list of name and on the same line it had tally marks for how many times he'd been with a person.

Joey was disgusted with how many tally marks he saw on the names and almost hurled as he was looking through the list and saw how many times he'd slept with Tea Gardner. He nodded at Yami and headed out after telling him they'd settled the details after he had somebody.

As Joey is walking out of the cafeteria Yami's thinking all the while how easy it will be to win this bet. And, knowing Joey is going to pick somebody he hasn't slept with, at the end of the bed after he wins he's going to have a new fuck buddy to play with as well. `This is going to be fun. I can sense it.' Yami smirked, grabbing his empty, except for the now blank notebook, bag and heading to his first class to get ready and sleep for the hour.

After a boring hour of history and the drawling voice of Mr. Rakishi Joey stepped out of the classroom and flat on his face, glaring at Yami's laughing face. He picked himself off the floor and kicked Yami's stuck out foot away.

"You're an ass." He muttered quietly so the teacher wouldn't hear.

"No, but I could do something with yours." Yami licked his lips as he looked the blonde up and down suggestively.

"Don't even think it, Yami. We're on a bet."

"Not yet. You haven't found anybody yet."

Joey growled at Yami before looking away. "I have too. Meet them at the bridge tomorrow after you're last class before lunch. They'll be there."

Yami rolled his eyes as the two began walking towards their next class together.

"You better follow my rules, Yami." Joey threatened.

"Yeah, yeah." Yami pushed the threat away. "So what happens with the loser?"

Joey thinks for a minute before smiling at his friend. "If you lose you can have no sex for the rest of the year no matter what."

"And if I win?"

Joey sighed in defeat for a minute before continuing on. "If you win than I won't bother you about what you do anymore and…" He thought for a minute, knowing Yami would want more with his stakes going high. "And I'll be you're slave for a month." Noticing Yami's evil smirk he quickly added, "But I won't have sex with you."

"Grr, give it up Joey! Seto won't do it with you, he's too proud and has that snobby rich personality!"

"Don't insult my boyfriend! Think it or say it out loud whenever you want, I don't care, but not when I'm around to hear it!"

"Fine fine, keep your pants on." Yami laughed.

"Don't worry about that, I will," Joey mumbled quietly. "So is it good enough for you?"

"Yeah, it'll do."

The two shook hands for their bet before entering the gym for the PE class with Mr. Ase and Mrs. Jimu.

~End of Flashback~

Joey shook his head before heading on to the cafeteria for lunch before heading up to his room to finish his weekend homework.

~~

Yugi shivered once more in the chilly air and huddled into his mess of sweatshirts and jackets to seek more warmth for his thin form. He'd been waiting on the bridge for five minutes for the mystery person Joey promised him the day before, but he also came early since he didn't eat lunch.

He was looking out into nothing a few minutes before the end of his lunch when two warm arms encircled him and helped immensely with blocking out the cold.

Very grateful, Yugi turned to thank the person but ended up gasping when he saw Yami. Knowing his reputation quite well from the talk around him in his classes and the stories from people in his classes about their night with him he backed away quickly but ended up tripping over a loose board and tripped over the low railing.

He clenched his eyes shut tight as he waited for the freezing water to swallow him under but opened them confusedly when Yami had his arms wrapped around his wrists and was pulling him back up. The older wrapped his arms around him once more to calm the shivering boy who was partly shaking from the cold and partly from the slight fear of slipping of the bridge.

"Th-thank you, Ya-Yami." Yugi whispered, stuttering from the cold and teeth chattering lightly. He cuddled more into Yami's warmth and let himself be held there for a while to calm himself down.

Yami smiled down at the younger, interested in how innocent the boy seemed even in his own arms. He lifted the boy in his arms effortlessly and carried him back to the school.

Yugi looked up when he felt himself moving and looked at Yami questioningly.

Noticing his confusion he settled the boy more comfortably in his arms as he continued to walk up the small slope towards the door. "Don't worry, little one. We're going to go back to the school and get warmer." Feeling the boy tense he chuckled lightly. "Not like that, small Yugi. I promise I won't do something like that to you." He was surprised when he felt Yugi lay his head on his chest and wasn't tensing anymore, amazed that Yugi trusted him that fast.

~

The two spent the rest of the day together, getting warm and talking lightly to get to know each other better. They ate a light dinner together before separating on the third floor stairs for their own dorm rooms for the night.

Before leaving Yami turned back to Yugi and called back to him. Once having the boy's attention he smiled at him, still amazed that the boy trusted him not to try anything already and started wondering what Joey had told him to convince him to do this. Shrugging that question off for a minute he looked back up at Yugi and asked, "Would you like to have lunch with me tomorrow?"

Yugi hesitated before answering, but remembered what Joey had said to him the day before about not having to worry about anything bad happening to him, and nodded. "I'd like that. Thank you, Yami." He waved lightly at the older student before turning and running up the rest of the stairs.

Yami smirked. `This is going to be a breeze. Joey has no idea what he's gotten himself into.' He thought as he walked for his own dorm one floor below.

There it is the first chappy! I hope it's good enough but then you can never really tell unless somebody actually comes up and said it sucks bad. *tears* I hope that doesn't happen. Don't know when to expect the next chappy but I'll try and get it out soon if that's what everybody wants.

I wanted to add one more thing too about the school. The classes, teachers' offices and dorms are all on the first floor except for gym, which is outside and in a gym a little walk away. Then the student dorms are on the second and third floors. Down the slope there's a bridge with a medium sized river coming from the mountains a few miles away heading out to a lake not far from it. The bridge basically just leads to the front gate entrance.

And also I'd like to thank Darkness again for letting me use this idea.

(1) - Okay don't ask where it came from but it's not a real book. I like to read books and I didn't want to make anybody mad incase I named a book somebody likes so I just made it up. I know it's kind of stupid but then again Malik did say it was crappy so it works.
