Chat-Room

--Chat One--

Anzu Mazaki stood outside of her friend's apartment, tapping her foot impatiently on the `welcome' mat in front of the door. Raising a hand, she knocked once more, growing more irritated as each second passed. She looked at her watch, and then at the door. Leaning forward, she placed her eye against the peephole, wondering if she could see in or not. Nope.

"Hikaru! What in the hell are you doing in there?!" she yelled, banging on the apartment's door. "Hikaru, you're making me wait out here in the cold on purpose! If you don't open this door in the next," she paused to look at her watch again, "three minutes, I swear I'll -"

The door swung open in the middle of her threat.

"You'll what?" the man in the entryway asked, crossing his arms over his chest in a very dignified manner. He quirked an eyebrow when she didn't respond right away.

Anzu huffed, pushing Hikaru aside and storming into the apartment. "You suck, you know that?! I was waiting so long in the bitter cold outside and you were in here, in your nice and toasty apartment, sleeping the day away!"

Hikaru raised his hands up, looking as innocent as he could muster. "That's what I do during the day, Anzu. I sleep. You of all people, being my `best friend', should know that."

"Enough of your excuses. Just because you're a vampire doesn't mean you can't open your front door to let me inside." Anzu removed her shoes and proceeded further into the house. "Anyways, I need to use your computer. Mine's busted."

"Can I get a please?" the silver-haired vampire asked, smirking slightly.

The brunette glared at him, rolling his eyes. "May I please use your computer, since mine is broken, dearest Hikaru?"

Hikaru snorted. "Now that I've reduced you to practically begging, of course you may." He walked down the hallway, opening the door to his small office. "You know how it works, so I don't have to baby-sit you or anything, right?"

Anzu nodded and shooed him out of the room. Turning the computer on, she waited as it loaded and logged her onto the internet. After a few minutes, the computer beeped, signaling that it was done. Smiling with satisfaction, she decided to get to work on her paper.

OOOOOOOO

About half an hour into her work, Anzu began to grow bored. She glanced at her Word document, seeing that she only had two pages of her research paper written out.

`I still have at least four more pages to write. But I'm just so darn bored!'

Saving the paper, she exited Microsoft Word and clicked on the internet access button. Within seconds she was connected to her AOL name and, after checking her email quickly - receiving two forwards from Jounouchi and a long letter from her other best friend, Yugi - she decided to go into a chat room to find someone to talk to.

She entered chat room 2496932 entitled `bored.' There were only about ten people in the chat box, including herself. Smiling, she wrote her first message. Before she could send it, however, an instant message box appeared on her screen.

Azure eyes stared at the IM, seeing it was from one of the people in the chat room.

PhantomY69: hey.

"Chat rooms are dangerous, Anzu. You never know what kind of weirdoes might be lurking in them, just waiting for innocent girl such as yourself to befriend them."

Anzu shook her head, brushing her mother's voice out her mind. Her mother was just paranoid. There was no harm in talking to someone over the internet, right? It was just being friendly.

DancingDreams2: Hi.

She waited, and then another message appeared from the stranger.

PhantomY69:n/a/s/l?

Anzu blinked, wondering what the four letters were supposed to mean. So she asked, and PhantomY69 responded with: name/age/sex/location, silly. Shrugging her shoulders, she typed back.

DancingDreams2: oh, sorry. Um... Anzu/17/female/Domino, Japan. What about you?

PhantomY69: no prob. Yami/19/male/Tokyo, Japan

DancingDreams2: wow we're pretty close to each other, aren't we?

PhantomY69: yeah, that's a pretty cool coincidence. Hey, got a pic? I have one here.

Anzu waited as the file was transferred to her. She wasn't expecting `Yami' to be good-looking at all. In fact, she thought he was probably some computer nerd. But when that picture finished downloading, she sure got a surprise. Yami was nothing as she imagined him to be.

He was tall, probably reaching around 5'8'' or 5'9''. His legs were long and thin, his stomach and chest seeming to be well-built under the black muscle T-shirt he had on. But the thing she found most attractive was his face. His face was sharp, with two angled crimson eyes that appeared to see through her soul, even in a photograph. His hair was most interesting, consisting of three separate colors. His bangs were blonde and they delicately framed his sun-kissed face. The rest of his hair was spiky and black, with only the very tips dyed red to match his eyes.

The brunette was speechless. Yami was utterly gorgeous!

PhantomY69: well...?

DancingDreams2: ...wow...

PhantomY69: is that a good `wow' or a bad `wow'?

Anzu blinked, wondering if he could be serious.

DancingDreams2: definitely a good `wow'. Are you a model or something? Because you so look like you could be one.

Anzu giggled at his next message, which was of a blushing smiling face. Yami's answer to her question was no. He only held a part-time job at the Tokyo branch of KaibaCorp. He was still attending school, though, and wanted to be a professional photographer.

DancingDreams2: That's awesome. I'm sure you'll make it as a photographer.

PhantomY69: I hope so. But promise me that one day, if we ever run into each other, you'll let me take your picture?

The blue-eyed girl blushed, and then responded that it would be okay with her. Yami was a nice enough guy, after all. She was about to add something more but Hikaru came in.

"How's the research paper coming?" he questioned, smiling.

Anzu gasped. `The research paper! I totally forgot about it!' Returning to the IM box, she quickly sent Yami a goodbye message. After he responded with a farewell of his own, she signed offline.

Hikaru stepped forward, his hands crossed over his chest. "What the hell have you been doing up here this whole time?" he asked, glaring at her.

The brunette flushed. She hated when Hikaru yelled at her. It made her feel like a little kid. Clicking on her Word document, she opened it up once again and started typing frantically. "It-it's coming along," she said.

"Two out of six pages? I hardly call that `coming along', Anzu," the vampire male replied, his charcoal colored eyes glittering in amusement.

Anzu bit her lip. "Well...I got sidetracked, that's all. I was talking to a friend of mine and just lost my focus. But don't worry, it won't happen again. I do want to get this freaking thing done, after all."

Hikaru nodded. "Sure. Well, if you need me for anything I'll be in my room asleep, all right?"

"All right."

Once he left, Anzu leaned forward on her elbow, resting her face in the palm of her hand. An image of her crimson-eyed internet friend came into her mind. `He sure was handsome,' she thought with a silly grin. `And really nice, too. I wonder if...I wonder if I'll ever get to meet him in person some day.'

OOOOOOOOO

Hikaru walked into his room after reminding Anzu of her report. But something was gnawing him at the back of his mind. Something was up.

He reached his room and left the door slightly open so if he quickly get to Anzu in case there was a problem, or just in case her heard something other than her typing her paper. He sat at the edge of his bed and stared at the wall ahead of him, his mind deep in thought.

'... Hmm...Anzu better be careful of Internet weirdoes... One of them could be another like me... But then again, the vampires didn't like to move from Hell and into sunlight, so, I shouldn't worry... But I can't get this feeling off me for some reason...'

He couldn't think of an answer as to why.

OOOOOOO

Atemu Mutou sat at his computer desk, eyes closed and a smug little smile on his tanned face. Bringing his feet up, he rested them on the top of the desk and brought his hands back behind his head. He looked relaxed, and almost asleep. But he was far from slumber, even though the sun shone brightly outside.

"Anzu Mazaki," he whispered, licking his lips.

Standing from his leather chair, he went over to the printer on the other side of the room. Sitting on the printer innocently was a picture of a pretty teenage girl. Her bright blue eyes glittered happily, and her silky brown hair fell gently down to her shoulders. She was very beautiful. And she would be his next target.

Atemu's smirk widened as he took his picture in his right hand. Grabbing a yellow tack from one of the desk drawers, he made his way over to a corkboard wall. Using the tack, he stuck the picture to the wall, right in the middle of a bunch of other pictures.

Pulling back, he placed his hands on his hips and stared intently at the wall of female pictures. Placing a hand on his chin, he gazed intently at the printout of Anzu. Pretty soon...he'd have her, just like he had all the other girls on the wall. Her soul would become his food, and with her blood he would achieve his goal of reaching ultimate power. He would rule humans and vampires...he would be great.

And it would all be thanks to the naïve human girl who never listened to her mother during the talk about `internet stalkers.'
