"Yami?"
Yami jumped, being brought back to the present with a jolt. "Um...?" he said vaguely, then added, "Yes, Anzu?"
She laughed a little, and he noticed how pretty she looked just then - or at least, he told himself that he was noticing it. Actually, he was a bit preoccupied with how much the bill was going to be; this Italian place was fairly expensive... Not that he was selfish; he just wasn't sure if he had enough... He frowned. That wasn't the sort of thing he was supposed to be worrying about right now, he told himself firmly.
"It's just that you seemed... distant," she said. "Something on your mind?"
"No, it's nothing," he assured her. "Just thinking about... how lovely you look tonight."
She laughed a little again and went back to her food, blushing. `Damn,' Yami thought wearily. `I hate it when I have to lie to her...'
And he seemed to be doing that a lot lately - practically the whole month they'd been dating, actually. He just couldn't seem to concentrate on _her_. Why, he didn't know. She was sweet, loyal, funny, had a perfect figure... He just couldn't understand what was wrong with him.
The dinner dragged. He was surprised when the waiter brought their bill though; he had been that deep in thought. He discovered that he had enough to pay it, and even leave a decent tip, and after that they drove towards Anzu's house. Yami felt worse and worse as they went, because he had made up his mind to do something that he really didn't want to do. He had been thinking about it for days, and while he knew he needed to, he was also pretty sure that he'd hate himself for it afterwards...
About two blocks from Anzu's house, he pulled over. She looked at him curiously.
"Anzu, I need... to talk to you about something," Yami said, steeling himself.
"Huh?" she asked. The innocent, inquiring look she gave him broke his heart a little more.
"Well, it's just, I..." He sighed. "I am _so_ sorry; I really am. It's nothing you've done, believe me. But I... I just... Want to break up."
She was silent for a minute. Yami was just beginning to wonder exactly how badly she was going to kill him, when she finally said something. "Fine," she said simply. She looked calm, except for the tears that Yami could just see in the streetlamp light. "I thought you might want to sooner or later. You've been so... apart... but I guess I hoped..." Suddenly she opened the door, giving up on being calm. "I'll walk the rest of the way home," she said stiffly.
"Wait!" Yami said hopelessly. "Don't do this. It doesn't have to be like this."
"I'll see you in school," she said coolly, and slammed the door in his face.
Yami sighed again, watching her go. He should have known this was going to happen. He had had a couple other relationships in this life, and none of them had lasted longer than two months. This one had set a new record though; they'd all lasted over five weeks until now. Once again he found himself wishing he could remember more of his past life; he wondered if he had had such bad luck back then too... Not likely; this was terrible...
But this had been the worst break-up yet, he thought heavily as he finally started toward the game shop. The other times he had lost a girlfriend. This time he had lost a friend. He hoped all this wouldn't damage her friendship with Yugi...
Thinking about his hikari cheered him up a little. Every time he got a new girlfriend Yugi would be completely supportive, telling him that it really seemed like this one might be `the one,' and he was also always supportive when Yami lost a girlfriend. He really was sweet; Yami often wondered why he'd never managed to get a girlfriend himself, even though he was fifteen now. Of course, he still had that child-like quietly, and he was still short... Nobody but his close friends probably realized how old he actually was.
When Yami got home the kitchen light was on, and he hoped it wasn't Yugi's slightly eccentric Grandpa... But thankfully it wasn't; it was Yugi himself.
"What are you doing still up?" Yami said teasingly. "Isn't it past your bedtime?"
Yugi pouted adorably, though you could tell he was trying not to laugh, and just looking at him made Yami feel a little better. "Yami, it's only ten!" he whined, then grinned. "So, how'd the date go?"
Yami winced. Good feeling, gone. "Not well," he confessed, leaning against the counter in a frustrated manner. "We broke up."
Yugi leaned against the counter in a similar fashion, which would have been comical if the mood had been lighter. "How come?" he asked quietly, though he was pretty sure he knew why. His yami never broke up with his girlfriend because they got in a fight or something like that. They just... broke up.
Yami shrugged dejectedly. "It just... wasn't working out," he said, confirming Yugi's suspicions. "I just don't feel anything more than friendship towards Anzu, you know? I hope we can still be friends, but I don't know."
Yugi smiled encouragingly. "Maybe she just wasn't your type," he suggested. "I'm sure you'll find the right person sooner or later."
Yami shook his head. "I don't know anymore," he admitted. "What is my type? I have no idea."
Yugi shrugged. "I don't know either, but I'm sure it'll work out," he said confidently, and hugged his other self.
Yami smiled a little when he pulled away. "Why have you never gotten a girlfriend?" he asked. "Girls have asked you out before, but you always turn them down. You're nice enough that it'd probably `work out' on the first time for you."
Yugi smiled too, but Yami notice it looked rather sad. "I don't know," he shrugged. "I guess none of them were the right type for _me_."
"Cheer up," Yami said soothingly. "If there's any chance of me finding the right girl, then you surely have one too. A much larger chance than mine, at this rate."
Yugi still looked sad, and he turned around and started to the stairs up to his room. "Yeah, maybe," he said quietly.
Yami frowned slightly and reached out to Yugi's mind, curious as to what was bothering him. To his extreme surprise, he was being blocked. He reached out and touched his hikari's shoulder, and Yugi shivered slightly. "What's wrong?" Yami asked softly.
"It's nothing," Yugi said, but it came out sounding artificial.
"Then open your mind to me," Yami replied.
"No," Yugi said hurriedly. "I mean... Not right now..."
"There _is_ something wrong," Yami said gently. "Please tell me. I won't be mad, I promise."
"Yes you will!" Yugi said, yanking his shoulder away with more force than intended, and Yami was shocked to hear tears in his voice. "You'll think I-I'm disgusting!"
Yami stared at him for a moment, then hugged him, letting him sob into his chest. He waited a few minutes until Yugi's breathing slowed, then said, "I could never think you were disgusting; you should know that. Never. Please talk to me; I won't be able to sleep if I know something's hurting you."
Yugi looked up at him, his face still stained with tears. "You really want me to tell you?" he whispered.
Yami nodded. Yugi hesitated just a moment, then without warning he pulled his darker half into a bruising kiss. When the shorter boy's tongue brushed Yami's lower lip the dark spirit let him in, but other than that he didn't respond.
When Yugi pulled away they were both gasping for breath. Yami was stunned. Yugi sighed. "Goodnight," he said bitterly. He turned again and went upstairs.
Yami dazedly sat down, rather hard, on one of the stools at the counter. That was, without a doubt, the most... confusing... thing he had ever done. A large part of his mind was taken up with amazement that his hikari was gay, and more importantly that he liked _him_. He wouldn't have any problem with his hikari's sexual preferences if it wasn't _him_ that he happened to like. But then again...
But then again, a small but growing part on his mind was revelling in how _right_ that had felt. That was the really confusing part. It was as if he had never been kissed before; because a kiss had certainly never felt like _that_... It had been amazing; perfect. He realized that he wanted to be kissed like that again, that he wanted to hold his hikari and never let him go. He had never felt like that towards a girl before. The idea was frightening, and for a moment he was tempted to forget it and pretend he had never felt the way he was feeling right now, but how could he? It was just too wonderful to forget.
`Well, might as well give it a try,' he thought suddenly, smirking a little. He was up for a change, right?
A few moments later, he was knocking on Yugi's door. He winced when he heard sobbing, and no response either. Quietly, he opened the door.
The light was off, but Yami could see by the light of the moon shining in through the window. Yugi was sitting up against the headboard with his knees pulled up against his chest and his head on his knees, but when Yami came in he looked up. "I told you you'd be disgusted," he said sadly. "I suppose you're going to tell me how `bad' and `wrong' it is now?"
Yami winced at the harsh sarcasm. `Last chance,' he thought, feeling one final twinge of fear and doubt. Then he crossed the room and kneeled on the bed to kiss Yugi deeply, not giving it a second thought.
This time it was Yugi who didn't react - at first. When Yami's tongue slipped in his mouth he seemed to get over his daze, and they engaged in a playful battle for dominance. When they finally pulled apart neither could speak for a moment; they were both even more out of breath than the first time.
"What - why - how...?" Yugi gasped. Yami lay a finger over his mouth.
"Shhh," he said quietly. "I think I may have found that `right person' you were prophesizing about in the kitchen..."
Yugi stared at him, and despite his best efforts he started crying again. "Th-thank you," he managed to whispered.
Yami tenderly kissed his face until all traces of tears were gone. "Shhh," he repeated. "I'm the one who should be thanking you, for showing me someone I could love."
Suddenly, Yugi's mood seemed to change completely. Yami caught just a glimpse of a mischievous grin before he was suddenly flipped on to his back and Yugi was kissing him passionately.
"So," he asked when they broke apart, "what I'd like to know was, were those real tears, or were you just trying to catch me off guard?"
"Hmm... Real, but that was a nice advantage when I got over it," Yugi said thoughtfully.
Yami smirked. "And thus the _third_ personality of Yugi Mouto is revealed," he said theatrically.
Yugi giggled. "Only around you," he assured him, and they went back to kissing. Yami was in the middle of taking off Yugi's shirt when he stopped abruptly.
"What?" Yugi asked, noticing that the spirit was looking apprehensively at the door.
"What about your grandpa?" Yami asked nervously.
Yugi giggled again. "Oh, don't worry about him; he'd sleep through anything," he said confidently.
"Well, alright then," Yami said, nodded, and flipped Yugi over and removed his shirt before the smaller boy could react.
He trailed kisses down his lighter half's neck and across his bare chest, before taking one of his nipples in his mouth and gently sucking on it. Yugi moaned, tangling his hands in the Yami's hair and pushing him closer. After a minute or so the spirit moved to give the other nipple equal attention.
Yugi was so focused on what his other half's mouth was doing that he didn't even notice his hands at first. Then he gasped as cool air touched his length. Yami glanced up, asking for permission, and Yugi blushed a little and nodded.
Yami was amazed at how right this felt. It was as if that one first kiss had opened up a whole new world; suddenly he wanted... needed... his little light. He gently licked the pre-cum off his other's nub, fascinated by how just that little touch could make the younger boy shudder and groan.
A moment later Yugi stifled a scream of pleasure as the moist heat completely enveloped him. It only got better as Yami set up a steady rhythm. He writhed beneath him, consumed with the building, pleasant pain inside him, thrusting up in an attempt for some kind of release. Then Yami drug his teeth across his length, throwing him over the edge.
They lay next to each other for a few moments, panting. Yami discovered, to his discomfort, that his pants seemed too tight now... He licked his lips. "Oeshi (1)," he commented.
Yugi blushed. "Hentai," he replied, then rolled over so he was partially on top of Yami. "You know, you seem really over-dressed..." he added.
"Now who's a hentai?" Yami asked, smirking, and quickly got out of his clothes. After he got back in to the bed he kissed Yugi deeply, but pulled away when he felt him frowning.
"What's the matter?" he asked softly.
"Well, it's... supposed to hurt, isn't it?" he asked, shifting uncomfortably.
Yami nodded thoughtfully. "Yes, it is," he agreed, then rolled off of Yugi. "If you're on the receiving end."
Yugi blushed a little again. "You don't mean you want me to... I mean, I couldn't..."
"Osakimizozo (2)," Yami interrupted, looking him in the eye.
Yugi blushed even more, and hurriedly turned to rummage around in the night stand to hide his embarrassment. "Arigato," he muttered.
"Doi dashi mashita (3)," Yami replied, smirking a bit. Surely his hikari had thought about this before; it was kind of funny how uncomfortable it was making him...
"Cologne?" Yugi suggested, abruptly changing the subject.
Yami raised an eyebrow. "I guess it'll work," he agreed, suppressing a snicker.
Yugi turned again and coated his index finger with the sweet-smelling liquid. He hesitantly placed it inside his yami's opening, then kissed him (with some difficulty since he was so much shorter...) to distract him from any discomfort. At first there was none, but then... Yami winced as he added a second finger. He got used to it quickly, but the third finger caused him to gasp sharply into the kiss; it was incredibly wonderful, but also... rather painful...
Yugi waited until he was sure it wasn't hurting his dark half, then he removed his fingers and began to cover his member with the cologne. Yami let a slight moan of impatience escape his lips, but a moment later Yugi stifled it with yet another kiss, and gently inserted himself into the spirit's entrance. Yami whimpered a little, then suddenly gasped and arched his back. Yugi had hit a spot that made the darkness behind his eyes burst into color.
Yami eagerly accompanied his hikari's movements, thrown even closer to heaven when the younger boy began to massage his length in time as well. In hardly any time at all he came all over his own stomach, Yugi coming inside him just moments later.
Yugi collapsed on his chest, panting again, and Yami contentedly breathed in his sweet sent. "Aishiteru, mou hitori no boku (4)," Yugi murmured sleepily.
Yami smiled. "Aishiteru... sume no chibi tenshi... (5)" he replied sarcastically, his smile turning into a smirk.
Yugi giggled a little. "I suppose I'm gonna pay for it next time, huh?" he commented, and Yami nodded solemnly.
"YUGI!" a voice out in the hall shouted. Both spirit and boy jumped about a foot in the air, then Yugi giggled again.
"Hai, Grandpa?" he called, taking great care to make his voice sound like he'd just woken up.
"Are you alright in there?" the older man demanded.
"Hai, Grandpa," Yugi repeated.
There was a pause. "Well, okay then," Mr. Mouto said, and they heard the floor creak as he walked away.
"I thought you said he could sleep through anything?" Yami said suspiciously.
Yugi grinned. "Well, I guess I didn't think you'd be screaming quite so much," he replied.
"I did not scream!" Yami replied indignantly.
"Riiiight..." Yugi said skeptically, the ducked under the covers to avoid an air-born pillow.
