Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Concrete Yugi ❯ Chapter 1
Concrete Yugi
Disclaimer: You have to be a complete moron to mistaken me for Kazuki Takahashi or Martina McBride.
Me: Hi people, I made a sad songfic for you to enjoy. I don't know why I keep writing them. I guess I'm one of those people who like good cries. Anyway enjoy the fic.
It was a sad day in Domino City. A young boy was murdered a few days ago. The boy's grandfather, mother, and "brother" came to pay their respects and say good-bye to the most beloved member of their family.
There was also a young girl. She had red waist length hair, green eyes, and she wore a white T-shirt and blue jean capris quite out of place in a funeral. She stood right in front of the grave, but everyone ignored her as if she wasn't there.
"Attention everyone! Attention. My name is Laura Wells and like you I came here to pay my respects to a certain boy. I know this seems weird for a funeral but I'm going to sing a song. It's a tweaked version of Concrete Angel. I hope you like it."
Laura turned on the stereo next to her, cleared her throat and was ready to sing.
(Flashback)
14-Year-old Yugi Moto was having a hard life. His grandfather and mother had to visit an old friend out of town. While Yugi's "brother", Yami, decided to go with Abana, his girlfriend, to Tokyo for a short trip. Yugi didn't want to interrupt their time alone so he stayed home under the care of his uncle.
That is if by the word care you mean abused 24/7.
Everyday Yugi's uncle used all types of objects to inflect harm to poor Yugi. It was so bad, by the time Yugi finished bandaging a bruise and/or cut the size of a tennis ball he'd get 5 more twice the size. Yugi had no friends besides Yami and Abana. Even though he could call his family and tell them what was going on, his uncle would punish him even worse and kill everyone Yugi was ever close to.
No one knew what was going on except a girl, who was waiting for the right moment.
"He walks to school with the lunch he packed nobody knows what he's holding back."
Yugi left his house quickly. As he walked to school he took out an extra sandwich he made from the brown paper bag he was carrying and took a bite out of it. It felt good to eat something that didn't have cigarette ashes and/or the smell of liquor on it. Yugi looked at all his fellow classmates wishing someone who would come and help him.
"Wearing the same clothes he wore yesterday. He hides the bruises with the blue jacket."
Yugi noticed that three students were looking at him and he overheard their conversation.
"Take a look at that Yugi kid. Is it just me or is he wearing the same jacket? I mean I know it's the uniform but it looks like it hasn't been washed for awhile."
"And did you see that bruise on his wrist!?"
"He's got a bruise on his wrist? I must've missed it, his jacket sleeves are in the way."
Yugi closed his eyes and ran to the school.
"The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask. It's hard to see the pain behind the mask."
As Yugi's teacher, Ms. Shiro, was passing out tests she noticed Yugi's latest bruise on his wrist.
"Mr. Moto?"
"Is there a problem Ms. Shiro?"
"Nothing. Mr. Moto. I just wanted to say good luck on the test."
"Bearing the burden of a secret storm. Sometimes he wishes he was never born."
Yugi sat on a concrete bench eating his lunch until he heard someone.
"Hey what's up?"
Yugi looked and saw Laura.
"Name's Laura Wells. Yours?"
"Yugi Moto. Why are you here?"
"I saw you alone here and thought you'd like some company."
Yugi had to admit she was pretty cute with her long red hair in a down ponytail. But something was odd about her and it wasn't the fact that she wore the boy's uniform.
"Through the wind and the rain. He stands as hard as a stone. In a world in which he can't rise above. But his dreams give him wings and he flies to a place where he's loved! Concrete Angel."
"Yugi. I know your uncle abuses you. But I'm here to be your friend. I can make the pain hurt less." Said Laura as she placed her hand on Yugi's hand.
With that Laura smiled, something about Laura's smile was really comforting to Yugi. After she smiled, Laura and Yugi started a normal conversation. Soon the bell rang signaling that lunch was over. Laura looked Yugi almost sadly.
"Yugi I have to go now. But I'll see you later."
Then Laura kissed Yugi's cheek and ran off.
One little thought stirred in Yugi's head as he watched Laura leave.
`Is this what it feels like to be in love?'
Later that night, after gaining 10 more bruises courtesy of his uncle, Yugi went to his room to get some bandages but then he saw Laura, who was wearing some street clothes, tapping the window. Yugi rushed and opened part of the window and Laura slipped in like a stealthy thief.
"Laura! I'm really glad you're here!"
"Somebody cries in the middle of the night. The neighbors hear but they turn out the lights. A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate. When morning comes it will be too late."
Laura then grabbed Yugi's hands and her tone changed into a somewhat excited and at the same time serious tone.
"Yugi I can take you away from this! I know a place where you'll be treated fairly!"
"Laura I can't run away he'll find me."
"He'll never find you as long as I'm with you."
But soon there was pounding against the door and Yugi, knowing who it was, told Laura to leave. Laura listened to Yugi and she climbed back outside through the window and Yugi closed it. But right after he did, Yugi's uncle came bursting in.
"Who were you talking to?!"
"No one!"
"Don't lie you brat! When I catch your friend, I'll kill them just as I'm going to kill you!"
Then a torrent of fists, metal rulers, and various objects struck Yugi with each blow worse then the last and Laura saw it with her own eyes.
"Through the wind and the rain. He stands as hard as a stone. In a world in which he can't rise above. But his dreams give him wings and he flies to a place where he's love. Concrete Angel"
About two hours later the police and ambulance came. Laura saw Yugi's uncle, handcuffed and being taken to the police car. Also she saw the ambulance taking Yugi's body out of the house on a stretcher but Yugi's body was covered with a white sheet. Yugi was dead.
Laura also saw that Yugi's family came back when they heard the news. Yami's girlfriend was wiping Yami's tears and Mrs. Moto was crying into Solomon's shoulder. They weren't the only ones crying. Laura cried into her knees all night.
"This wasn't suppose to happen! I didn't want this to happen! Damn you fate! Damn you to deepest pits of Hell!"
(End flashback)
"A statue stands in a shaded place. An angel boy with an upturn face."
Tears started to form in Laura's eyes and soon swept away by the wind blowing her hair and bangs around. She looked at the statue of an angel woman. The lady looked like she was going to cry. Her hands were clasped together as if she was begging for the boy buried below her to live again even though she knew deep inside he was dead.
"A name is written on a polished rock. A broken heart that the world forgot."
Laura looked at what was written on the polished block of stone on which the statue stood on.

"Through the wind and the rain. He stands as hard as a stone. In a world in which he can't rise above. But his dreams give him wings. And he flies to a place where he's loved! Concrete Angel!"
As the song was finishing, Laura heard clapping and looked to see Yugi without a single scratch, as if he was never abused.
Laura smiled and ran through all the mourners like she was an illusion.
Yugi and Laura hugged each other, both happy to see each other again.
"Thank you Laura"
"You're welcome Yugi. Now let go met some of my fre…"
But before Laura could finish, Yugi kissed her on the lips. Laura didn't mind Yugi's boldness. She was with him and he with her in a better place.
Me: Aw man I feel so bad for killing poor Yugi. But he's in a better place with a nice girl. Anyway R/R and I'll see ya soon.
