Ishizu entered her apartment, being greeted only by the looming darkness. The moon was the only illumination and even it didn't enter the room. No lights were on, and Marik never left the house at night, since the last time he had he had come home drunk after being persuaded into a bar by a less that caring Joey.
After that she always counted on coming home to a Marik laying on the couch, hand on his stomach, the faint glow of the television on him, either asleep, or complaining for lack of good shows. He had changed much in such a short time since Battle City.
But he wasn't here. No one except the darkness, but for some reason, she felt her skin crawl upon entering the room. She couldn't see two inches in front of her face, which was odd since the moon should have provided some illumination. She didn't possess a particular fear of the night, but something was in the room, even without her Millennium Tauk she could sense it.
She wished the Odion hadn't gone back to Egypt, then she would have had a more suitable guardian at the home, but he had gone home to find his true parents or some such excuse similar. Ishizu was too busy running her museum to go back to Egypt. She began to grope the wall, searching for the light switch.
As she did, she gently called out, “Marik..?” Hoping for an answer, there was none. She found the light switch, and flicked it softly. As she did, light flooded to the room, the darkness hiding under couches and chairs, or anywhere else that the light couldn't reach. Darkness has a funny thing about running from the light.
The darkness dissipated and Ishizu found herself staring straight into a pair of golden eyes. She grabbed her mouth, and narrowly fought the urge to scream. Silver hair hung over his face like curtains on a window, and it cascaded down his back. He was dressed normally, but his eyes and hair were strange.
“Oops, did I scare you?” He asked. Ishizu didn't answer, but she managed to regain her composure. She looked on the couch and saw her bound and gagged brother splayed out on the floor unconscious. “What did you do to him!?” Ishizu demanded. “Him, oh I simply knocked him out. He was being a little loud.” He said. Ishizu scowled and got ready to defend herself from her would be assailant. She decided to buy some time by distracting him.
“Who are you?” She asked. “Me? My name is Zera. I've come here for you Ishizu, possessor of the Millennium Tauk!” The man said. “Then you've come too late! I handed the Millennium Tauk over a couple of days ago!” Ishizu said. “I'm aware, but you get ahead of yourself. I can easily take it back from that duelist runt, and his alter ego, the pharaoh!” Zera said.
“Why do you want me?” She asked. Zera smiled and said. “If you think I'm in this for the Millennium items, or the God Cards, like the moronic Bakura, or your even stupider brother you're sadly mistaken. I want you Ishizu for your prophetic powers with the Tauk. I know my victory is assured, but I want…insurance.” Zera said.
“Then get someone else to do it! I'm not interested in the Millennium forces anymore.” Ishizu spat out bitterly. “I can't do that, for you see if you choose to disobey me, then I kill your brother. Your choice.” Zera said, snapping his fingers. A blade appeared out of thin air, and hovered above Marik's neck, as if being held by some invisible man. “You wretch!” She spat out, venom lacing her voice.
“Heh, I swear your brother will live, and you will be well taken care of. So, it's the better of your two options.” Zera said. Ishizu's scowl dropped and she sighed. “As long as your don't lay a finger on my brother then very well.” Ishizu said. Then she walked over to the table and grabbed a piece of paper from the top of it, and a pen from the drawer. She began to write. “What are you writing?” Zera asked.
Ishizu's eyes welled up in tears, but she continued to write even as they spilled down her cheeks. “A goodbye note to my brother.” Ishizu said. Then she stopped and laid the letter by Marik's head. The sword faded and Ishizu untied her brother. She then walked toward Zera. “Let's go…” She said. Zera smiled, wrapped his arm around her, and they both faded away, her last words being, “Damn you Zera.”
