Her match had become even. For the first time in her life, Midnight could feel nothing but cold hatred towards her once, used to be best friend. She flew up ontop of the building to find Demona there, just standing with an evil smirk upon her face. Midnight stood on the edge of the building and gave a peturbed look.

"How dare you bring innocent bystanders into this!" Midnight snapped. "Your fight is with me alone! No one else!"

"Is that so?" Demona scoffed in reply. "Well, then...perhaps then we should settle this the old fashioned way then, hm? Show me how much you've improved....Unless you're too chicken to even try and fight me."

"I don't want to fight you! It's meaningless to try because the whole thing will become a stalemate!"

"Do you honestly think it's going to be EVEN between the two of us??" Demona asked. "Believe you me, my powers have become greater since our last real encounter. I should be thanking dear Dawn for all of that power she had given me....all because of that sorrow in her life....All that pain....She suffered. And now, you're next. She gave me a new form of power....Power such as this...Thunderbolt ASSAULT!!" Thunderbolts were coming everywhere, each getting bigger and stronger by the time they had attempted to strike at Midnight. She dodged left and right, flipping off of the building and moving around in the air.

"Whoa! Look at that!" Jounouchi said. "How is Midnight going to stand up with something as powerful as that?"

"I don't know, Jounouchi.....I just pray that she'll make it through, and the rest of us...." Yami said in a low tone.

"YAMI!!!!" Midnight called out as she continued to dodge. He then looked up at her. "Go find Kaiba!! I feel he's still alive!! He's here! You have to hurry!! I'll take care of Demona! Just go!!"

"You heard her! Let's find Kaiba! Demona has got to have him around somewhere!" Bakura said and the rest of the group fled off. Midnight continued dodging rapid lightning bolts, coming at her faster and faster. Demona finally let them stop to give Midnight some sort of a breather.

"Had enough yet, dear Midnight?" She asked. Midnight panted in exhaustion, but she tried to remain her composure and strength.

"Is...Is that all you have?" She asked. "That was nothing but a game for me."

"Is that why you're looking a little worn from the situation?" Demona asked. "Then I guess it's best that you cool down a bit...Water Falcon!" A large bolt of water came rushing at Midnight. It hit her like a truck would, and she went flying backwards into and through a wall. She was in so much pain....

"Damn you, Demona....." Midnight said, slowly getting up. "Now you've made me mad.....!" She jumped back up to her feet, and then caming charging at Demona at rapid speed. Demona was caught off guard by this and took the large hit in the face by kicking her. She twisted and fell on her face onto the ground. Midnight then picked her up by her clothes and punched her hard a couple times in the face. Demona then pushed her away and went back on some distance. She touched the corner of her mouth and was surprised to feel blood on it.

"You've drawn first blood....Very impressive......but I still expect more than that from you to defeat me!" She smiled.

"Where is that sonofabitch anyways???" Jounouchi asked, as he ran through the city, looking around. "He's never around when you need him most!"

"Just keep looking, Jounouchi...! We'll find him eventually!" Anzu said from behind him.

"Yeah, but that eventually might be too late! We gotta find him on an ASAP." Hiroto added. Just then there was a rather large explosion from behind them that made them even fall off their feet and end up falling forwards. Yami turned around to see an explosion from where they left Midnight with Demona.

"I sure hope that wasn't an explosion from Demona......" Jounouchi said, staring in awe.

"Nobody could have survived something like that, at THAT close of distance...!" Yami said. "We have to go back and help her.....!"

"I suggest you not go and try help that poor fool...." Yami got up to see that Kaiba was off to the side in the shadows, watching them.

"Midnight's going to die if we don't do something, Kaiba....! She's in trouble! Don't you even care?!" Jounouchi asked.

".......No.....I don't....." He said, and everyone looked at him in surprise.

Midnight was laying on the ground, hardly able to move from the explosion that Demona had created. Demona stood over her and looked at her with a exression of disgust. She got down on her knee and pulled Midnight up by her hair. Midnight let out a little shout in pain.

"You disappoint me, Midnight." Demona began. "You were supposed to be stronger than me....But then again, you never did anything but cheat. That's how you defeated me in battle for the position for the head guard for Pharoah.....You're a disgrace to all of the former guards and His Majesty...To think that I could love someone like you.....You fooled me.....You led me astray from all the achievements I had been working for all that time. I felt that you were the only one for me...and you made me feel like I was special! Like I was the only one....! And then you betray me for that DAMN PRIEST!!" She then threw Midnight into the wall by her hair...She hit her back and slowly slid down the wall, unable to take anymore.

"Demona.......I......I never betrayed anyone....not a day in my life....The only one here who has betrayed...is you." Midnight said weakly. Demona's eyes widened, filled with the surprise in her answer. "You became my enemy at an instant for some assumption you made about me. Yes, I fell in love with the Priest, Kaiba.....And if there's ever a time where you could forgive me for YOUR misunderstanding....then forgive. I only saw you as a friend...nothing more. You and I had been friends since we were kids.....I just can't see that you were jealous over that. You held a grudge towards me and never even asked about what the real story was, and you IMMEDIATELY assumed. Your heart would have been better off knowing the truth instead of making up its own lie."

"No.......no...............NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I DON'T BELIEVE YOU!!!" Demona said and she created a hell pathway of fire towards Midnight and she dodged out of the way.

"Kaiba, are you siding with Demona??" Jounouchi asked.

"Indeed." Kaiba replied. "I have finally learned the real truth about Midnight and now I realize that she is the one that must be stopped. She is the one that let Dawn go...I can never let her be forgiven for that."

"What?" Yami asked.

"God dammit, Kaiba!" Jounouchi said. "Are you THAT stupid and thickheaded?? Demona has just played you right into her hands and now you've become her puppet! Geez! What kind of moron would believe her...?! At THIS POINT IN TIME WHERE SHE IS BLOWING UP THE WHOLE FRICKING CITY?? ARE YOU BLIND, YOU STUPID DUMBASS?????"

"Be silent....It won't be long now before Demona disposes of Midnight and all will be well again. You all have to trust me.."

"Like we were able to trust you before??" Anzu asked. "Midnight is NOT the enemy! She is one of us! Demona tricked you! Can't you see that??"

"You thought you knew everything because you think you had all the power back in the day?" Demona asked, when her head was down. "Well, times have changed....the tables have turned...It's my power that is overcoming yours...."

"Not in this Millennium!" Midnight said as she blew a large ball of fire at her. She quickly dodged the attack and threw the same kind of attack right back at her. It had pushed her back, but she was luckily able to eliminate it by creating a barrier around herself. The force became to great for Midnight, and when it had vanished, the extra amount of energy that had been left over, pushed her back a couple feet. She slid across the ground, her feet still holding firm.

"Huh...What do ya know...the bitch is still standing..." Demona smirked. Midnight, barely standing, took in a whole chunk of her own energy and threw it up in the air. "Firestorm SURPISE!!!" The massive attack had brough Demona off guard and she tried to dodge it as best as she could. However, as fast as she was, she could not make it threw the whole attack and was severly hurt in the process. Demona feel backwards onto her back, huffing and puffing. Midnight had wondered if she had beaten her. Did I stop her finally? She asked herself in her mind.

"Demona......Just give it up....there's no more use in fighting....I'm sick of this!" Midnight said. Demona slowly got up and scolded Midnight under her breath.

"You....you actually think this is over??" Demona asked. "Believe you me, it's FAR from over....the fun has just started, beloved."

"...And what do you mean by that?!" Midnight asked. Demona then gave a small chuckle. She then pulled out of thin air a glass that contained some kind of blue/white fog.

"Here I have in my hands the very soul of the person you hold dearest to, next to Kaiba...." Demona said as she held up a glass, contained of what looked like fog.

"How did you-?! Where did you get that from??" Midnight asked.

"Feh...You think I'd let Dawn go when she contains all that power?" Demona answered. "But now that she is drained of from her power, I have no more use for her....." She then extended her arm out over the edge that contained the glass bottle.

"What are you doing?! Stop that!" Midnight said.

"Here's you dilema I've created for you.....If I drop this bottle, and you go and try to save the poor girl's soul, I will get the chance to run off, and your chances to capture me have failed. But if you stop me, you save many innocent lives, but then lose Dawn....It's your call, sweety. Don't make the wrong move, or it'll be all over for you." Midnight was silent. She didn't know what else to do. She was completely silent with nothing to think of.

"Whoops, times up!" Demona said and then she dropped the glass to leave. Midnight ran over to the side of the building and jumped off, trying to catch it as fast as she could to get back to Demona.

"So long, beloved...we'll meet again." Demona said in a low tone, and with that, she had disappeared into smoke she created for her exit. It seemed that the glass was too far away for Midnight to reach. The two objects were getting closer into hitting the ground, and there was not enough time left. Midnight finally got a grasp of it at the very last second, turned herself around to have her back towards the ground and fell flat on. She let out a large groan in pain...feeling like she couldn't move anymore

"Dammit....I thought that'd be a little bit easier......" Midnight said weakly. She then looked at the glass to see that it was still in good shape. I better go find the others....She slowly rose to her feet and began to walk off in search of the rest of the group. As she walked away she noticed that the fire was diminishingt from the buildings, as though there wasn't a scratch on them. It was all an illusion....Midnight thought to herself. Demona created that illusion so she could freak us all out because of the torture that would be to everyone.

"You're completely wrong, Kaiba!" Jounouchi snapped back. "Midnight wouldn't do something like that!"

"How do you know that?? You know her as well as I do and that's not very well at all! How do you know that she's not plotting something against us??"

"She's nothing compared to the Vampy bitch back there!" Hiroto said, standing in.

"Don't insult her like that! You don't know anything!"

"Neither do you, ya fool!" Jounouchi said, getting more frusterated with the conversation.

"This is getting us nowhere...."Yami sighed.

"I assume that with all of your bickering, everyone is all right, yes?" Midnight said, holding the bottle in her hands.

"Are you okay? You look pretty beaten up from Demona..." Yami asked.

"I'm fine....how about the rest of you?"

"Eh...A couple of bruises here and there, but nothing major." Hiroto said.

"Hey, Midnight. What is that in your hands?"

"Well...I wasn't sure when Demona pulled it out at first, but somehow she got it...It's Dawn's soul. Luckily, when she dropped it I was able to get it in time." Midnight looked over at Kaiba to find that he had an angry look on his face. She was a bit confused, and wondered
why he looked so mad.

"Is....something that matter, beloved?" She asked.

"Yeah....YOU." Kaiba responded.

"??" Midnight was now completely confused, wondering what she had done. "I'm afraid I don't understand you, beloved. What do you mean?"

"You had that all along, didn't you? You just wanted to have Dawn out of the body so you didn't have to have someone else to share it with, am I right?" He asked as he walked towards her and she walked back.

"I think your horribly mistaken...! I never had this at all! Demona did! Don't you...believe me?? Since when did you ever take her side anyways?? If you don't recall, she tried to kill you....and the rest of us!"

"She told me the truth about you....how you betrayed her...and everything else."

"And you're ACTUALLY going to believe her after what she's done?!"

"She's doing it for a good cause!"

"And what kind of a cause is that??"

"To destroy you! To take away the evil so Dawn can live among us once again."

"But I have her right here! I want to put her back!" Midnight said.

"Kaiba are you as stupid as you are gullable?!" Jounouchi said. "Even Midnight said she wanted to put her back!"

"You can't fool me! I saw everything back in the day that happened between those two! Midnight betrayed poor Demona!" Kaiba snapped.

"POOR?!" Midnight asked. "Beloved, I think you have it mixed up....because she has it mixed up as well....She took things the wrong way and have been holding a grudge against the both of us for thousands of years....The reason she is holding a grudge against mostly me is because she thought that I had some kind of feelings for her that were more than a friend. Of course she was like a sister to me, but I could never be her lover. But I fell in love with you, beloved...after years and years of tolerating you even though I wasn't really allowed to be with someone of your status at the time...." Kaiba looked at her with a serious look, but was now seriously confused from both standpoints.

"So basically, Demona has been holding a grudge against you because she misunderstood a situation and took your feelings the wrong way??"

"Yes....for a more unfortunate way it is..." Midnight sighed. Kaiba then looked down. The group was in silence for a moment and then Yami walked over to Midnight and took the bottle out of her hands.

"Let's just get Dawn back into place where she belongs....all right?" Yami said. Midnight then looked up at him and nodded. He then opened the jar, and the gaseous form of the soul had immediately moved right towards Midnight's chest and struck into her hard. her whole body became a white light and before the group knew it, I had appeared once again....I felt really faint, and decided to fall my knees. Yami caught me before falling, and held me in his arms.

"Looks like she's back..." Hiroto said. I opened my eyes and looked around. I was surprised to be back in the real world...

"Dawn...?" Kaiba said to me. I looked over at him silently. "Are...are you all right?"

"........." I couldn't respond.

"Are you?" He asked again.

"........Why did you bring me back?" I managed to say in a low tone. I was beyond mad to find out that I had been back in this miserable compared to where I was originally. Everyone looked at me in surpise, unable to believe the words that had came out of my mouth.
