Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Double Identity ❯ Guy Friends Can Be A Pain ( Chapter 3 )
(Meira: You're the place my life begins, and you'll be where it ends, I'm flying without wings, and that's the joy it brings, I'm flying without… wings.
Okay, forget about that part. I'm listening to Flying Without Wings while I'm typing this. I love that song!
This is a crappy chapter. So crappy that it shames me… then again… I'm disappointed with a lot of chapters that I write. But… still… enjoy!
Disclaimer: I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh!, Beyblade, Kai Hiwatari, or anybody in this chapter. I don't own Saéka either, GLTB does. But I own this story. Strange, huh? Hehe…)
~~Saéka's POV~~
I looked at the slip of paper with the place where I was staying at on it. T.D.A.H. What did this stand for? Lousy acronyms… What good were they anyway? What hotel would have T.D.A.H?
"Looking for a place to stay?" a voice asked, sounding amused. I turned to see Duke standing behind me, smirking.
"Come to laugh at me?" I asked, putting my hands on my hips.
"No…" he laughed.
"And you still say that you're not laughing at me?" I said, pretending to fume. Duke seemed awfully cute now that I got to know him…
"Yeah, yeah, whatever," he said, brushing aside my comment. "But you are looking for a place to stay, right?"
"Maaybe," I teased.
"Need some help?"
"No… I just need you to tell me what T.D.A.H. means."
"You mean the Ten Dumbest Arabian Horses?" Duke teased. I grimaced.
"Uh… is there a hotel that goes by that?"
"That is a hotel."
"Forget about that place…" I said, putting on a look that told him that I was going to kill whoever gave me that slip of paper. But… that freak, Duke, started laughing. "What are you laughing about?" I fumed.
"I'm sorry," he said, choking with laughter. "But I didn't meant that… you should have seen the look on your face! I mean it was - Oww…" He grimaced when I stepped on his foot.
"That's what you get for being a freak…" I muttered. Next chance I got, I was going to kill Duke too.
"Sorry," he said, his eyes welling up with tears at the pain. Had I really stepped on his foot that hard? When I looked down… apparently I had.
"So… what does T.D.A.H. mean?" I asked, trying to ignore that guilty feeling.
"Top Duelists Association Hotel!" he muttered, now hopping on one foot, and clutching the other.
"You telling the truth?" I asked suspiciously.
"Yes," he moaned. "Now will you please call an ambulance?"
"I don't think you need one…" I said, though I couldn't help feeling that maybe he did…
"Please!!" he moaned.
"Okay! Just let me find my cell phone…" I said, reaching into my purse. Just when I reached it, Duke started laughing.
"You shoulda seen your face!" he laughed again. "I mean, did you really think you could hurt me that bad?" He was practically rolling on the ground from laughing so hard. He wasn't like that for long…
Considering the fact that I hit him with my suitcase. My biggest one too. That should serve him right.
Seeing him like this brought an odd sense of satisfaction… it's too bad he had to spoil my good mood today. Now I just had to find that hotel… without Duke's help this time.

In my opinion, this was harder than I thought. T.D.A.H. Where was this lousy hotel?
"Stupid freaks…" I muttered. "I mean, even Kai would be able to find this hotel faster if they gave the full name… and he has the lousiest map reading skills ever…"
"Well, excuuuse me if I can't read the word `Japan' on the map that you drew… mainly because you misspelled it," a sarcastic voice said behind me. I turned to see Kai standing behind me. I turned red. How long had he been listening to me curse about the T.D.A.H?
"F.Y.I., I did NOT misspell Japan. You just read it wrong," I retorted. But I was happy. Kai was here!
Kai was one of my better guy friends back in America. He's Russian and all, but he's still… cold hearted and evil.
"You so did misspell Japan! I know it's spelled J-a-p-p-a-n!"
"Loser! It's spelled J-a-p-a-n!"
"Oh…" Kai said, blushing after realizing his mistake.
Idiot. I looked up into his gray eyes. Well, not really… he's only 5'6", which is two inches taller than me.
I remember when Kai and I met, we were instant… enemies. Mutual enemies. I hated him and he hated me. But we gradually became friends… it took about five years though. So now we've been friends for four years. Pretty long…
"Well… What're you doing here?" I asked him.
"I'm an exchange student here."
"Didn't you just transfer to some school in Wisconsin?" I asked.
"Yeah… that school has an exchange program. And since I can sorta speak Japanese… I'm here."
"And…?"
"And what?"
"Remember?" I asked, holding up a heart shaped gold necklace, with the heart outlined in silver. Kai had made me a promise when he left…
~~Flashback~~
"I can't believe you're going to be so far away," I said wistfully, looking at Chicago from the Skydeck of the Sears Tower.
"Don't worry about it," Kai replied. "It's only Wisconsin."
"Yeah… but isn't that like, a whole other state?" I teased.
"…" Kai replied. "I'm going to be living in southern Wisconsin, and you live in northern Illinois. It isn't THAT far."
"Well…" I said, looking out at the city below us. "You're still moving… away from here."
"Saéka," he whispered. I turned toward him. Kai was an idiot of few words, succinct too, so he normally wouldn't draw out sentences this long.
"What?" I asked.
"I… I…" he stuttered. Okay, what was going on here?
"Just say it…" I said, exasperated.
"Here," he said, pressing a small box into my hand. What the…? Kai normally didn't do anything like this. I mean, he would give me stuff for my birthday, but it was stuff like Duel Monster Cards, video games, and stuff like that. Never once had he given me jewelry. Or was this some sort of a spring loaded trap?
Despite myself, I opened the box. Inside was a small, heart shaped gold necklace with the heart lined in silver.
"It's beautiful," I said, cautiously lifting it out.
Kai laughed. "Don't worry… no traps… this time."
"Thank you!" I said, taking a closer look at it. It was really beautiful… but why did he give me this? "Um… why did you give me this?"
"Good bye present," Kai replied. "But don't worry… you'll see me again." He looked out of the window. "Good bye, Saéka."
"Bye," I whispered. With that, Kai left.
~~End Flashback~~
"So… what do you say?" I demanded, tapping my foot.
"Okay," Kai smirked. "I hated you, and now… I still hate you."
"Damn it," I said. Kai still had that old problem. Insulting me for no reason at all… cold hearted, evil snob.
I death glared him. That was a bad idea. Especially since death glaring was his specialty. Maybe this wasn't a good idea.
Then Kai laughed. "Maybe I should help you find your hotel," he said.
"Possibly," I replied. Maybe I should get some help from Kai…
"Whatever," he said, brushing my reply aside. "Now, where are you staying at?"
"T.D.A.H.," I replied shortly.
"Top Duelist Association Hotel?" he asked. I nodded. "It's over there," he said, pointing at a tall building off in the distance. It's a good… 20 miles from here."
"How am I supposed to go that far?" I whined.
"Walk," Kai smirked.
"Why you little…" I yelled, swinging my purse at him. He ducked. Unluckily for him, as soon as he came up I hit him with my suitcase.
"Oww…" he mumbled, rubbing his head. "Some friend you are…"
"So…" I said. "Can you give me a ride there?"
"Don't have a car," he replied, still rubbing the spot where I hit him.
"So call a cab."
"Don't have any-" he began. But before he could finish, I put on my best if-you-don't-I-will-kill-you-then-bring-you-back-to-life-then-kill-you-agai n face.
"Fine…" he mumbled. "TAXI!" Miraculously, a taxi pulled up moments later. "T.D.A.H.," he said, sliding into the cab. I slid in after him… of course after throwing all my luggage on top of him. "Oww…" he mumbled again.
"Thank you so much, Kai," I said, sliding into the front seat.
"I'll make you pay…" he mumbled.
"What did you say?" I asked innocently.
"Nothing," he mumbled.
"Are you sure?" I asked suspiciously.
"I… uh… Wanted to know if you were going to start school soon," he fibbed. Yeesh. Kai was such a bad liar. Why did he even want to know?
"Yeah… as soon as I get registered," I replied. "They have uniforms here?" I said, glancing at his… erm… usual outfit.
"Yeah…" he sighed. "They suck though…"
"What do you mean?" I asked. Uniforms can't suck that badly…
"I mean… they're so… dull and ugly."
"They can't be that bad…"
"Yes they can."
"I'll have to see for myself then."
"Good. You can register tomorrow at Domino High."
"Why Domino High?"
"'Cause it's the only high school here that doesn't involve stuck up snobs."
"No preps at all?"
"No. But… it's different at a public high school."
"I see…"
"Hey, lady," the taxi driver said to me, pulling up by a huge hotel. "You gonna pay or what?"
"How much?" I asked.
"238 yen," he replied.
"Kai will get the bill," I said sweetly. "Won't you, Kai?"
"WHAT?" he yelled. "There is absolutely no way that I am-" He broke off when I death glared him.
"Uh… here," he mumbled, digging some money out of his pockets.
"Thanks," I said, smiling at him. "Thanks a lot."
"No prob," he said gruffly. Though I could swear that he added (under his breath,) "I'll make you pay for this… this and hitting me with your suitcase…"
"What was that?" I asked, putting on an innocent face.
"Uh… nothing," he replied. I merely laughed.
Maybe Domino wasn't going to be that bad.
(Meira: Another reason why guy friends can be a pain… they always seem to be plotting revenge or just acting stupid. Like during Home Ec. (Consumer Ed.) today, this freak was trying to put a `curse' on me because I started winning at Uno. What did he mean? Well, when I didn't have a card, he would curse me to keep on drawing cards… for like… forever. *mutters* Idiot… I'll get you back someday… *regains composure* Of course… there are the good parts too. Like the fact that you can always count on them to… well… not worry about `feelings.' *mutters* Hehe…
So… What do you guys think? GLTB says it's good… but I need some more feedback. Please Read and Review! [Is this story good?])
