Doubles of Darkness, Chapter 5

"Malik...Will you be all right? You're hurt so badly..." Ryou said softly while he kneeled next to Malik's bed, still in his arms.

"I've told you not to worry, I'm fine." Malik said just as quietly. Then the door opened and they shielded their eyes from the light.

"Ah...so here you are." The newcomer grinned evilly, green eyes sparkling.

"Otogi!" Ryou said happily, he went to hug him but Malik held him back.

"Where are the others, Otogi?" Malik asked. Otogi grinned wider.

"They'll be joining you shortly. Until then I have some business to take care of." Then he walked over to the sleeping Yugi and undid his chain, lifting him gracefully out of the bed. "I'll be seeing you later." He waved and left with Yugi, the other two too shocked to do anything.

"What's wrong with him...?" Ryou asked. Malik shrugged, not knowing.

"I wouldn't trust him though, something about him isn't right. He may be working for them." Malik said.

"No...How could they?! How could they do this to us..." Ryou said before he started crying again.

"I'm sorry, I don't know. Please, stop crying I hate to see you cry." Malik said gently. Ryou tried, but to no avail and carefully buried his head into Malik's chest. Malik rested his head on top of Ryou's and rubbed his back soothingly to calm him down. They fell asleep like that.

"I brought this one as ordered." Otogi said and he placed Yugi into a chair much like that of a dentist attached to a large machine and pushed a button that secured his ankles and wrists.[1] The boy slept through it all, but awakened as a shield came down on top of him.

"What's going on?" He cried, voice muffled. He struggled but it was no use as his hands and feet were bound.

"We're getting ready...Soon, your friends will no longer be able to help you!" Marik pointed to a screen and Yugi looked. It showed Tristan and Seto fighting...but suddenly the two disappeared, much to the shock of them all.

"What's going on? Bakura!" Marik called. Bakura's voice filtered into the room via a speaker.

"...I think you should find Yami." Bakura said.

"Damn him." Marik said, and then he stormed off. Otogi was grinning, finding the situation amusing, then turned back to Yugi.

"Sleep, Yugi." He said, then sleeping gas filled the space inside the shield and Yugi fell unconscious.

Marik angrily stormed the hallways, looking for Yami.

"Yami!" He yelled, the sound of his voice echoing through the hallways. He was more than angry to say the least; he never liked it when people ruined his plans.

"Marik?" Yami asked, showing up from around a corner. Marik angrily grabbed Yami and held him against a wall.

"Where are they?" Marik asked through clenched teeth.

"Where's who?" Yami asked, looking puzzled. Marik growled and shoved him hard.

"You know who." He said.

"Oh, them. I don't know where they went; I was just looking for them." Yami said, hoping his lie would fool Marik. Marik paused to think, and then let him go.

"You better find them then, if my plan is ruined I'll have your pretty little head." Marik smirked, cupped the side of Yami's face and held it there for a few seconds, before turning and leaving.

Yami slumped against the wall, sighing with relief. That was a little to close for his comfort. He quickly began looking for the others to warn them that they didn't have much time. He had given them the general directions to where Malik and Ryou were being held, but they needed to hurry and there wasn't time for getting lost.

"Joey, do you know where we're going?" Seto asked, following next to Tristan; Joey had taken the role as leader since Yami had told him where the others were held.

"Yeah, yeah. Don't worry." Joey said, waving his hand at the question. He continued to lead them, the other two remaining silent. Eventually, they came to a darkened hallway with an electronic sliding door at the end and nothing else.

"Dammit!" Joey said angrily, the door was locked and they needed a code to enter it. "I hate this place." Joey said. The other two remained silent, allowing Joey to vent his frustration and also hoping he wouldn't turn it on them. He kicked the door in anger and sat on the floor. "This is hopeless." The other two could only stay quiet; not wanting to voice their agreement, because then it really would be hopeless.

Inside the room, Malik and Ryou continued to sleep, unaware of the noises going on outside. Ryou himself refused to wake, not wanting to miss out on sleeping next to his lover. Malik felt the same as he simply moved closer to Ryou when a particularly loud bang echoed into the room.

While Yugi was sleeping, Otogi began the process of removing his light from his very soul. Since Yugi's soul was almost one hundred percent pure, the container in which his light was stored in, was nearly full. Yugi was losing his soul.

[1] Okay, you know those pod like things that they were in for Seto's virtual game? Well, it's kinda what those things look like.

A/N - Icky I know, but it's nearly done I think...poor Yugi^^ ...don't ask why that's a good thing, I just like being ebil, yes ebil. Anyways, please r/r!
