~ Last Time ~
Yugi took his hand away from Jounouchi's forehead, smiling coldly before disappearing into the darkness. That was one less of the "Shining Friendship" group to take care of. And so pathetically easy too.
In the blonde's room, long, loud malicious laughter rang clear.........

Jounouchi's dark eyes glanced around the room as everything was explained again by the mirais and by Bakura and Ryou about what had happened last night. Inside his mind he was toying with dark ideas and his tongue poked out to lick suddenly dry lips. It hadn't taken long for the cold heart of darkness to settle in after Yugi-sama had left but there was still a little something missing. Just......something.........
Itai.
He scowled coldly at Tristan for whapping him on the head, surprising the brunet with what was held in his eyes. The look disappeared instantly as he remembered he still had to play the act of the goof and rubbed his head. "What'd ya do dat for?" he hissed, punching Tristan on the shoulder. Tristan frowned, rubbing his arm. "You weren't paying attention," the teen responded, the others too busy talking to notice the tension between them.
As Jounouchi turned away from him to pay attention to the mirais, Tristan knew something was wrong with his best friend. The look in the blonde's eyes was murderous and dark bloodlust rolled into one. Just what the hell had gotten into Jou lately? When the squirt went missing he seemed......cold hearted about it, like he didn't care what happened to the one he called his best friend.
"So what's th' plan then?" Jou's smooth voice interrupted his thoughts and Tristan glanced over again, sensing......something. Their brotherly bond ran too deep for anyone else to know and the brunet could sense things about him nobody else could.
Maizu spoke up, hands clutched in her lap and worry in her violet eyes. "If we do not stop him, your future will be converged in darkness just like ours. The darkness will continue to spread...... None of you, not even you, Yami, would have known but he is of immortal blood. He will continue long after any of us have become one with the earth and rule with a cold heart. Millennia from now, our descendants would have picked up the fight where we left off......but they would never succeed."
"There is something though," Jeto continued for the brunette girl, sensing her emotions on the subject matter. "The Mirror of Illusions."
"What's that?" Mokuba asked, clutching his elder brother's hand gently but tightly. The young Kaiba didn't like the way this all sounded -- Yugi had been someone he looked up to aside from his brother and when he had run away Mokuba was upset for a few days. Did they all not care about the teen? It appeared from the gathering that yes, they did or else it was just to save the future.
Jeto smiled slightly over at the raven-haired boy before answering. "The Mirror of Illusions is an item that shows you just what kind of illusionary world you're in or person you're trying to be. If darkness covers your soul it shows you an alternate person you could be and vice versa. I believe we can use that to our advantage but the only one who has ever found it has been the Duel Master."
Shikuba snapped her fingers, a thick book appearing in her hands that startled the rest of the group but the mirais. "I'll get to researching. What we do know is that it's somewhere here in Japan, possibly the Kyoto area. Since nearly all the cities have been torn down in our time it was kind of hard to find it before the Duel Master."
"I can provide us with the transport, of course," Seto offered, surprising everyone. "But Mokuba, I want you to stay here with Shikuba. I don't want you getting into any of this." Shizuka looked across at her brother from where she was sitting and was rewarded with a slight nod of approval in Kaiba's plan for the younger ones. If there was one thing they agreed on it was the safety of their younger siblings.
"Then it's settled," Marik decided, drawing everyone's attention to him. "Mokuba and Shizuka will stay here and help Shikuba research about the Mirror of Illusions while the rest of us head to Kyoto and try to find it."
Yami nodded, agreeing with Ishtar's hikari. "Everyone get ready, meet back in an half an hour or so outside the Kaiba mansion." There was worry in the former Pharaoh's eyes. 'If we can't help Yugi......I have a feeling something more will happen than just the mirai's future.' As everyone but the mirais were leaving, Anzu placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. Yami looked back at the brunette girl as she offered him a smile of support. "We'll get him back, Yami, just wait and see. You should know by now that love and friendship prevails over darkness."
"I suppose......but something just doesn't feel right." He motioned for her to follow him out to the backdoor so nobody would overhear. "Anzu, I never told anybody else but I'm trusting you to keep this a secret, understand?" When she nodded, he continued. "Before Bakura and Ryou arrived here last night, Yugi was here. He blamed me for everything that had happened to him and I suppose in a way he was right. I love him more than anything, Anzu, and I don't want anything else to happen to him. I don't want the darkness to purge his innocence any more than it already has."
Again, Anzu nodded, understanding completely. It seemed only natural that Yami would love Yugi the same way the other darks and lights did each other. Once she had felt something for the spirit before finding out it was merely a feeling of sisterly love rather than that of a lover and had found the latter kind in Mai. "You can trust me, Yami, you know that. I think if Yugi knew before though none of this would have happened. But don't worry, we'll get him back." With that, she left, leaving Yami to his thoughts.

Yugi laughed at what the blonde had told him, brushing golden bangs away from his dark eyes before raising a hand to his chin. "They're all fools," he purred, bloodstones seemingly smirking lustfully. "The mirror won't do a thing that will phase me, the darkness is all I have now. And all you have now, Katsuya." Jounouchi blinked, but didn't say a word. It was all true. The darkness had swallowed him whole as it had done the one before him. The bakas didn't care for either of them and the blonde would be damned if he didn't see to the spreading of the darkness. "Go with them, my little puppy. See to it that they do not find the Mirror of Illusions." There was a swift bow and a submissive murmur before Jounouchi disappeared into sparkles of black dust.
It was amazing how ignorant the fools and their counterparts were, they had never even noticed the red Hex on the blonde's forehead. But then again that mop of hair kept it concealed until Jounouchi used the powers that came with belonging to the darkness.
"Looks like the puppy was born to take orders," a dark voice spoke from behind as arms wrapped around the darkling. Yugi smiled coldly, relaxing into the Duel Master's embrace. Though it had been less than twenty four hours it was beginning to feel like home. But he had always belonged to the shadows.
"I feel like taking the children's stay-behind to my advantage," he purred, reaching up and pulling his future self in for a tainted kiss. It lasted for a full minute or two before they pulled away, saliva mixing. "After all, they are powerless and such an easy picking." His orbs flashed dangerously, as did the Hex.
"Do as you wish," the Duel Master murmured possessively, wrapping his arms tighter around the smaller one before Yugi disappeared like Jounouchi had done, wicked laughter echoing around the endless darkness. It was joined soon after by his own, changes occurring in his features. Purple orbs became crimson, yellow highlighting the spikes in his hair. Mirai no Yami laughed darkly, amusement glittering in his cold eyes. This was the way it should have been in the first place - his past self in this dimension was a weakling, such an incredible fool it was unimaginable to give him any other title. This was the way the future should be, himself ruling with an iron fist and his hikari at his side. But those bastards had gotten to Yuugi first and managed to convince him light was the answer though the darkness would always reign supreme.
And now he was fused with that damned Marik Ishtal.
"Such simpletons," Mirai no Yami purred darkly, a black orb being produced from the palm of one hand that showed him what was going on with his past self. "They have no clue of what is really going on. None of the fools from my timeline remember who was the one that fused with Marik, none of them remember just who they are fighting. And this reality's Yuugi will be under my control for eternity."
Laughter erupted from Mirai no Yami's lips, the cruel sound bouncing off the shadowed walls of darkness. Oh yes, this Yuugi would be his......no matter the cost.

Yuugi watched silently from the shadows, sadness in his normally bright amethysts as his friends battled the darkness. His own yami. Where had it all turned bad? It had begun with his grandfather's death - Yami hadn't wanted him getting in the way of their relationship. His grandfather had never approved anyway, claiming it was "basically masturbation", his exact words. Then more blood began to be spilled by Yami's hands and Yuugi noticed a dark change in the former Pharaoh.
Yami claimed he loved him......but was it really love when the one you wanted went so far as to kill all those that even looked at you the wrong way? So far as to kill all those that didn't approve or beat upon the small light?
Yami claimed to be protecting him but did it have to be in such a way that it ended so many lives of innocents?
Yuugi sank to his knees, clutching his head painfully. It was always like this when the darkness surrounded him, it was almost like it wanted to make a home in his heart and soul. He knew his yami wanted him a darkling but was it really all worth it? Was it worth watching endless lives die only to live forever as a dark ruler? Was it worth any of what Yami offered him? He was a prisoner in the darkness, a prisoner of shadows.
He felt two hands on his shoulders that he didn't seem to be familiar with and looked up, meeting sympathetic blue and brown orbs. "Yuuge, we're here to help you," Katsuya whispered as he helped Seto lifted the relatively smaller pre-adult onto the brunet's back. Yuugi shook his head, trying to find the voice to talk but it only came out as a hoarse whisper.
He wasn't ready to go back to the light just yet. He wanted the shadows, wanted the darkness.
Wanted his yami............
Yami blinked as they retreated, questioning in his cold eyes before snarling and turning swiftly to go back inside. Pathetic fools, they would never have won anyway, he was far too powerful for them anyway. And once his hikari would embrace the darkness they would be a force to reckon with. A dark chuckle left his lips as he reached their room. Alarm flooded his mind when finding the door open, as he was sure he had locked it. Running into the room, he felt pure black hatred boiling up and waiting to be used. The sign of a golden lotus marked where Yuugi normally sat on the silk-sheeted bed, sad orbs normally questioning his actions.
He didn't need any more proof.
"HOW DAMN FOOLISH ARE THEY?!" Yami's roar echoed through the building, startling and frightening each and every being inside. 'They should know better than to separate a yami from his hikari!'With a cold-hearted sigh he walked over and laid down on his hikari's side of the bed, faintly sniffing the pillow.
'You'll be mine once again, my little darkling. And when you are the world shall know more than bloodshed and darkness.........'
End of Chapter Three
Katsuya-chan's Notes: Didja like the twist towards the end? *sniggers madly* Yes, another plot twister flew by and I had to take advantage of it like I normally do. *breaks out into maniacal laughter as another cow flies past* Sorry this chapter was so short but I didn't know how to finish it off well so I just left it in the past. Don't worry, the action will pick up in the next chapter and QUESTION; should I make Jou convert Tristan over to darkness since he senses something about our favourite evil blonde?? Or should Jou kill Tristan? I prefer the latter but however many want either will be the answer. I actually had a nice dream about Tristan being killed off in this fic......can we say sex?
Yumah: *shakes his head* And they say yamis are supposed to by psychotic......
Katsuya-chan: *points off in a battle stance* Go forth, my beloved creation, and hug the reviewers! *notices his glare and glares back before she's bound, gagged and thrown into a dark cave with Bahamut ZERO* //I'm sorry, I don't want to die! I HATE THE DARK!!!!!//
Yumah: Mwahaha, that takes care of her. Looks like you guys are stuck with me until whenever she decides to escape *maniacal gleam in his eyes as the readers all scream in terror*
Katsuya-chan *thought-speak*: Yumah-chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnn, don't frighten them! They're valuable aspects of my career as a fanfiction authoress!!!
Yumah: *laughs evilly and grins* Review, you pathetic mortals or there will NEVER BE A NEXT CHAPTER! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!! *muffled screams can be heard from inside the cavern*
