Battle Stage 40: Re-Match! The Restoration of Kings - Part 3

 

In the central duelling chamber Atem sneered down at his gun bearing Hikari, “Yes, you must atone, do it, do it now!”

 

Yuugi closed his eyes, “Anzu… if you're watching from the afterlife, don't hate me…” He whispered bringing the gun to his forehead as the doors of the hall burst open. Yuugi ignored the commotion pulling the hammer back, he ignored the voices until one rung out he couldn't ignore, “Yuugi Mutou put that gun away!” It screamed.

 

Yuugi's eyes snapped open almost pulling the trigger out of shock, “An-Anzu?!”

 

“Of course it is, before you pull that trigger there's something you need to know…”

 

“Bu-bu-bu-but, I saw you die… you were in my arms.” Yuugi blushed, “I told you…”

 

“That you, love me, I haven't forgotten Yuugi-chan, I love you too, but I'm not dead, I never was, it was a trick, I never died and you never killed Keith.” Anzu stated.

 

“But, I…” Yuugi began but Kaiba cut in, “It was a Virtual Reality simulation, none of it was real, it was just the Pharaoh playing a sick game with our minds.”

 

Yuugi's eyes boiled with anger, “YAMI!!!”

 

Atem laughed, “What's wrong Hikari, feeling put out about my latest manipulations?”

 

“Latest?”

 

Atem sighed, “I've been manipulating you since you got here, times of anger and jealousy have been amplified through our mental link. I even manipulated you to get you here, making you impatient to leave, stopping discussion on going elsewhere. Of course my most elaborate plan didn't quite work thanks to Serenity, no matter…”

 

“You were behind Anzu and I…” Jyoonouchi started but stopped as Atem pulled the Millennium Rod from his belt.

 

“Did you really think you would betray your friend and make out with the girl he had a crush on so easily, no, I helped it along with this, I will admit it was difficult fighting passed both your natural tendencies, but I did and it almost worked.” He explained glaring down at Serenity who glared back with steely resistance.

 

“You've turned into a real jerk Yami.” Anzu commented walking towards Yuugi, Atem's eyes flared, “You got sloppy Yuugi, I'm in!”

 

“What, hey!” Yuugi yelled, involuntarily his hand locked around the gun grip, his arm bringing the barrel to his temple, “Die Yuugi!”

 

Sugoroku and Anzu both yelled his name but Atem was too quick, “Mirror Wall (Continuous/Trap) create a barrier between Yuugi and his friends!” Atem ordered his eyes glowing crimson.

 

Anzu was able to stop short of the barrier but Sugoroku's older body took more time to stop and hit the barrier full force. Screaming and shaking as if he'd gone into shock Sugoroku collapsed to his knees, his body still shaking. Atem smirked, “One touch drains half your strength, a second kills.” He turned back to Yuugi, “Now die!”

 

Yuugi stood staring a hole through Yami his hand shaking hard, “I said die!”

 

“Nnnno!” Yuugi yelled throwing the gun to the ground, “I won't pull the trigger for your amusement. You want to kill me, do it yourself.”

 

Atem growled, “Fine.” He pressed a button on his platform and it lowered to the ground, he stepped forward, “A duel, a shadow game, yes?”

 

“Have it your way.” Yuugi responded as Atem lowered the Mirror Wall for a moment allowing Jou to toss Yuugi his duel disk and deck.

 

Yuugi Mutou Life Points: 8000

Pharaoh Atem Life Points: 8000

 

::Yuugi::

 

“I draw;

 

1. I summon Magician's Valkyria (Dark/Spellcaster/Effect/4 ATK/1600 DEF/1800) in attack mode;

 

2. I play two cards face down, your move.”

 

::Atem::

 

Atem grinned viciously, “It seems even fate is against you Hikari, I draw;

 

1. I summon one card face down in defence mode;

 

2. I play three cards face down and end my turn.”

 

Katsuya and Seto helped Sugoroku back into a sitting position against a wall from where he was, kneeling on the floor his body shaking from contact with the Mirror Wall barrier. Resting against the wall his breathing was still rapid, his clammy, sweat drenched pale face was mopped by a worried looking Anzu, “Mr. Mutou, we need to get you out of here, you're…”

 

“No!” Sugoroku exclaimed as forcefully as his weakened body could muster, “If Yuugi is going to see this through so am I.”

 

“I doubt the Pharaoh would let us go regardless.” Kaiba noted, his expression was unreadable as he looked over the duel, “The Pharaoh's opening move gave us no indication of his deck strategy, it can't be the same as it was during the Cerimonial Battle…”

 

Sugoroku shook his head, “No… but Yuugi must be careful, his opening move may have seemed weak, but it was calculated like everything Yami has done up till now…”

 

::Yuugi::

 

“I draw;

 

1. I summon Queen's Knight (Earth/Warrior/4 ATK/1500 DEF/1300) in attack mode;

 

2. I play one card face down;

 

3. Queen's Knight attack!”

 

“Foolish Hikari, did I teach you nothing, I reveal Gravekeeper's Guard (Dark/Spellcaster/Effect/4 ATK/1000 DEF/1900) in defence mode. When this card is flip summoned I can destroy one card on your side of the field, so bye bye Magician's Valkyria.”

 

Queen Knight's attack failed.

 

Pharaoh Atem LP: 8000

Yuugi Mutou LP: 7600

 

As the life points began draining from the counter fatigue set in on Yuugi's body, his arms and legs became heavy. Atem smirked, “I see our Shadow Game has begun, your life is now connected to the counter. As it goes down so will your life force, when it hits zero your life force will be drained and you, or I will die. As they say if you want something done right, do it yourself.”

 

::Atem::

 

“I draw;

 

1. Monster Reborn (Spell) will revive Magician's Valkyria to the field;

 

2. Dark Designator (Spell) moves Dark Magician from your deck to your hand;

 

3. Now Exchange (Spell) we show each other our hands and each select one card from each others hands to exchange, I select Dark Magician.”

 

“Chaos Sorcerer.” Yuugi selected refusing to look Atem in the eyes.

 

4. “I sacrifice Magician's Valkyria and Gravekeeper's Guard to summon;

 

5. Dark Magician (Dark/Spellcaster/7 ATK/2500 DEF/2100) in attack mode;

 

6. Dark Magician attack!”

 

“I thought you'd learnt by now Abiou never to trust a face down card, reveal face down card Sakuretsu Armour (Trap) to destroy your attacking monster, to bad, good plan though.”

 

Atem growled, “Nice try Hikari… you'll know death soon enough, every setback is just delaying the inevitable.”

 

::Yuugi::

 

“We'll see, I draw;

 

1. I play Double Spell (Spell) by sending one Spell card from my hand I can activate Monster Reborn (Spell) from your graveyard as my Spell card to revive Dark Magician to my side of the field, thanks Yami;

 

2. Dark Magician attack!”

 

Dark Magician's attack inflicted 2500 points of direct damage to the opponent.

 

Yuugi Mutou LP: 7600

Pharaoh Atem LP: 5500

 

Atem staggered as the life force drained from his body, sweat began pouring down his face, his arms hung limply at his sides, “Clever move Hikari, playing your opponent's mistake to your advantage, you were never this ruthless before.”

 

Yuugi's eyes grew cold, “These past days have taught me brutal lessons about life, I'm not the same man I was in Domino.”

 

“Evidently Hikari, maybe things will be different this time.”

 

“Maybe…”

 

::Atem::

 

“I draw;

 

1. I summon a monster face-down in defence mode;

 

2. I play two cards face-down and end my turn.”

 

::Yuugi::

 

“More defence, I draw;

 

1. I summon Skilled Dark Magician (Dark/Spellcaster/Effect/4 ATK/1900 DEF/1700) in attack mode;

 

2. Skilled Dark Magician attack!”

 

“Your attack triggers Pyramid Turtle's (Earth/Zombie/Effect/4 ATK/1200 DEF/1400) special ability, when its destroyed in battle I can summon a Zombie monster from my deck with less than two thousand defence points;

 

1. Welcome Royal Keeper (Earth/Zombie/Effect/4 ATK/1600 DEF/1700) in defence mode.”

 

3. “Dark Magician attack!”

 

Skilled Dark Magician's attack destroyed Pyramid Turtle; Dark Magician's attack destroyed Royal Keeper.

 

::Atem::

 

“I draw;

 

1. Swords of Revealing Light (Spell) stops you from attacking for three turns;

 

2. I summon Dark Jeroid (Dark/Fiend/Effect/4 ATK/1200 DEF/1500) in defence mode;

 

3. Dark Jeroid's effect activates when its normal summoned reducing your Dark Magician's attack eight hundred points (ATK/1700);

 

4. I end my turn.”

 

“Jerk, he can't even face Yuugi man to man he has to hide in the shadows like a trap door spider.” Jyoonouchi growled clenching his fists, but Sugoroku shook his head, “No Katsuya, he's planning for something far more dangerous…”

 

“What… oh…”

 

::Yuugi:: (Swords of Revealing Light, Turn: 1)

 

“I draw;

 

1. I equip Dark Magician with Tomb of Magic's (Equip/Spell) to increase its attack seven hundred points (ATK/2400);

 

2. I end my turn.”

 

::Atem::

 

“I draw;

 

1. I summon one monster face down in defence mode;

 

2. I end my turn.”

 

::Yuugi:: (Swords of Revealing Light, Turn: 2)

 

“I draw;

 

1. I await your next move Yami.”

 

Yuugi Mutou LP: 7600

Pharaoh Atem LP: 5500

 

::Atem::

 

“You won't have to wait long Hikari, I draw;

 

1. I flip Gravekeeper's Spy (Dark/Spellcaster/Effect/4 ATK/1200 DEF/2000) in defence mode;

 

2. This activates its special ability allowing me to special summon another Gravekeeper's monster with less than fifteen hundred attack points, Gravekeeper's Cannonholder (Dark/Spellcaster/Effect/4 ATK/1400 DEF/1200) in attack mode;

 

3. But I'm not done Yuugi, I sacrifice my two Gravekeeper's and Dark Jeroid;

 

4. To summon a holy monster, Behold God Dragon of Osiris (Divine/Divine Beast/12 ATK/X000 DEF/X000) in attack mode;

 

5. Of course this card attack relies on the number of cards in my hand, which is four (ATK/4000 DEF/4000);

 

6. Osiris attack!”

 

The dragon god of death reared and launched its blast wave, wiping Skilled Dark Magician from the field.

Pharaoh Atem LP: 5500

 

Yuugi's body shook as his life force was drained away forcefully, his body began to ache as if he'd been working out and then stepped into the cold.

 

Atem smirked, “Well, well, it's Déjà vu isn't it, let's hope you have more courage than you did at the end of the Ceremonial Battle.”

 

Jyoonouchi blinked, “What are you talking about?”

 

Atem opened his mouth but Yuugi jumped in, “Yami NO!”

 

“YES Hikari, it's time everyone knows, no more lies, no more deception, you could have won it easily, but you chose not to, you threw the result of the Ceremonial Battle and because of that I still exist. The King of Games…”

 

“…Is a coward!”
