It was a quite night in the Kaiba house.

The ticking of all the expensive clocks in the longer halls of the main living quarters, and the funny fact that no one was there to enjoy them. It's a true pity the silence was wasted on only one pathetic being, not quite sure if the quiet was good or bad. For this old soul, the quiet meant the world had left him again, left his to the synthetic world him `father' told him he must rule.

Take a few seconds to think of little Seto, huddled in a corner, computer in his lap, and how eerie quiet a large house with no one home could be. No more little brother, and `daddy dearest' was the one that started this madding silence.

Yes, the elder Kaiba a mind drown, sitting with his bit of life at his fingertips, the deafening silence as the only sound.

Then, the way a spider can feel a fly land in its web, Seto straightens. A sound, something real, something tangible. He closes the laptop quietly and stands up. He walks in the silence, the almost silence, for there is something wrong, some little thing, so small it would be unnoticed by someone who wasn't experienced in the silence like death he was so used to. The kind of thing like when you're home asleep only you and another, and it's perfectly quiet nothing makes a sound, then a tv screen turns on, and you can hear the electricity running through it. That was this, and a person was the tv, a sound small but welcomed by Seto's inexperienced ears.

Any sound was welcome, but what Seto missed most were human voices, their many kinds like colors, soft hard, light dark. This one was warm deep soft and ruff t the same time.

Seto turned the corner, into the entrance way, and there stood the only human interaction he had in a long time.
