Chapter Two

Seto walked into the physics lab, and he wasn't surprised as he usually was to find Yami sitting there alone, his eyes red and puffy and his skin as pale as a sheet.

“Good morning,” he said then, to Yami's annoyance, sat on the stool right beside the former Pharaoh's.

“What's so good about the damn morning?” Yami said with a voice colder than Siberia's snows. He took out a notebook and started reading over his neat notes.

“What's good about the `damn morning' as you call it is the fact that there is a morning in the first place. You're still alive aren't you?” Seto said cheerfully.

“Is that supposed to be a good thing? Sorry if I don't see your point.” Yami said dully, still flipping through his physics notes.

“Well, why don't you think so?” Seto asked, trying to break Yami's defenses.

“Kaiba, piss off.” Yami said, realizing the brunet's hidden attempts, leaving his stool to move to another one furthest away from Seto.

Seto frowned and annoyingly, he followed sitting on the one beside Yami's once more.

Yami huffed, “What the hell do you want, Kaiba?” he said in a low voice.

“I want you to tell me why you think being alive is not so good.” Seto replied simply.

“And I told you to piss off as an answer. I think you are considering a one-way ticket to the shadow realm.” Yami said, and then ignored the brunet once again studying the diagram in the notebook. Seto was going to start speaking once more but they heard Yugi and his friends entering the lab. Seto looked up in time to meet Yugi's violet gaze. The boy silently asked him to have a word with him in private. The brunet nodded and put his briefcase on the stool beside Yami to make sure that nobody takes the place and followed Yugi outside.

“He's in a foul mood isn't he?” Yugi asked miserably. Seto noticed his puffy eyes and tired look.

“That would be an understatement. Why do you look as though you've got no sleep yesterday?”

“No, I did get sleep but doing so on the bathroom floor isn't that comfy, you know.” Yugi laughed, ruffling his hair, making it impossibly spikier. Seto frowned, and started to say something, “Don't ask.” He said quickly cutting him off.

“Okay, I won't. About what you told me yesterday, I needed a few things done before we could carry on the plan.” Seto said, smirking evilly. Yugi eyed him warily.

“What plan?” he asked, slightly fearing the answer to his question.

“You don't need to know that. You won't let me carry on with it.” Seto said, shaking his head. “What you need to know is that I need you to take in Mokuba for two weeks, and I'll take Yami with me in the Mansion. We both won't be coming to school for these two weeks.” Seto said quickly before the bell rang.

Yugi frowned, “Why?” he asked, bewilderment screaming in his eyes.

“Yugi, I want you to trust me. If you do so, I'm sure Yami will be back to his old self like nothing ever happened to him. Tell me what you think in lunch hour.” And with that he stepped inside the lab, leaving Yugi to think about what he'd just asked.

“Potassium Manganate, plus oxalic acid, plus hydrogen sulphate, gives potassium sulphate plus Manganese sulphate plus hydrogen oxide plus carbon dioxide. Balance the equation.”

The elderly chemistry teacher dictated the equation in one breath, making most people in the class groan. Yami and Seto were sitting together again because Seto was intent on sticking to Yami all the while.

They both took it down, then Seto leaned in to speak to Yami, “Aren't you going to tell me why you don't think living is a good thing?” he asked, annoying Yami to no end.

Yami ignored him, looking at the piece of paper in front of him, pouting slightly. Seto frowned, “Fine, aren't you going to tell me how you got the blood on your arm yesterday?” he asked again.

“Kaiba, I'll say it again, for the final time, piss off.” Yami said the phrase that he kept repeating all day long, scribbling down the answer to the equation and avoiding the blue eyes.

“Wow, you finished? At least tell me this, how did you solve that at the end of the day? How can you stay so focused?” Seto asked, being annoying to a point that he himself didn't know he could master. “I'm the only person on earth who can achieve that.”

“You've got an `I' problem. When did you become so irritating, why don't you go design some new game to try and take over the world of industry with it?” Yami asked, making a face and scowling heavily.

Seto smirked, trying to say something else, but the teacher spoke, “Who got the answer?” he asked, looking around the class.

Yami raised his hand. He was the only one, and everyone in the room looked at him disbelievingly.

“Yes, Yami, my boy. What've you got, since you're the only one who seems to be paying attention in class?”

“Two molecules of Potassium Manganate, plus five molecules of oxalic acid, plus three molecules of hydrogen sulphate, give potassium sulphate plus two molecules of Manganese sulphate plus eight molecules of hydrogen oxide plus ten molecules of carbon dioxide.” Yami said confidently, in one breath, reading out his answer. (A/N: that was the most difficult equation that ever came across me, lol, solving it was so damn difficult!)

“I'm amazed, I really am.” The teacher said, after comparing the answer with the one he has in his notes, then clapped his hands together, “The ratio of the equation is hundred percent correct, forty atoms of oxygen equals to forty atoms of oxygen. The hydrogen and carbon atoms are all the same, well done, well done. ”

Almost everyone in the class agreed with him, their faces made into an expression of `What the hell were these two talking about?'

At that very moment, the bell rang, “Well, since no one answered except Yami, all will balance the equations on page 125 in your text book.” The teacher said.

Joey groaned, “All of them?” he grumbled picking his things up.

“All fifty!” the man said, glaring heatedly. “And if you don't finish them, I will not be expecting you in my class, but in front of the principal's office tomorrow.”

Yami rolled his eyes, gathered his things and left. He just wanted to put his things back into his locker and leave the school now that the chemistry class was the final one in the whole day.

Five minutes later, he slung his bag on his shoulder, and left through the exit alone. The sky was crowded with angry-looking clouds, a sign of a heavy rain coming by.

Yami had gone for a walk a few minutes before dinner. Yugi had been acting overly sweet with him the whole day and there was this apologetic look in his eyes, suffocating Yami to no end. So he decided to escape the regular pleas to eat at dinnertime by going out for this walk. Surprisingly, his Light did not even try to stop him.

Yami walked on, he's been out for an hour. His were hands in his black jacket's pockets, his crimson eyes fixed on the ground beneath his feet.

Suddenly, his thoughts were interrupted by a loud screech of tires, when a black Mercedes stopped beside him and Seto's cerulean eyes stared up at him, “Get into the car.” He said in a commanding voice, making Yami raise an eyebrow at how quick the annoying mask had dropped off from the brunet.

Yami snorted and carried on walking. The Mercedes followed him, “Yami, get inside the car or by Ra, I'll make you.” Seto demanded threateningly.

“Why should I?” Yami said, and kept walking, shaking his head in annoyance. The car stopped, and Seto got outside the car.

“Yami, I don't want to use violence with you.” he said in a threat, towering with his impressive height over Yami.

Yami looked up coldly at him, “It's considered kidnap if you do that.” He said, dodging the brunet and resuming his walking.

Seto followed, then without warning he wrapped his strong arms around Yami's slim waist, trapping his arms, then pulled him over to the car, the former Pharaoh struggling all the while, and by the time Seto had buckled Yami inside, he had scratches on his arm and one long bleeding welt on his cheek. He got inside the car and started driving before Yami could unbuckle his seat belt and get out of the car, “You gave me no choice.” He said calmly, bringing his hand up to wipe away the blood from the tiny scratch.

Yami scowled with hate at the CEO, and he punched him on his upper arm with great force that he cried out in pain, “Yami, what the hell is wrong with you?”

“You will stop this car, this very instant, you egotistical bastard.” Yami hissed at him in a venomous voice.

Seto narrowed his eyes at the former Pharaoh, “Yami, you don't want to insult me.” He said calmly, his blue eyes fixed on the approaching Mansion.

“Why is that exactly?” Yami sneered at him. “You are a bastard you know. It is not an insult to say that a bastard is a bastard. It was merely a description.”

Seto's eyes narrowed in anger, “Perhaps.” He said and totally ignored Yami's angry demands that he stops the car till he parked in front of the Mansion's front doors, “Get out of the car.” He commanded.

“No.”

“Yami, you saw for yourself that I can very easily force you into it.” Seto said, getting out of the car, then opening Yami's passenger's seat door. The former Pharaoh scowled at him, and made no move to get out of the vehicle.

Lightening flashed and a moment later they heard the unmistakable sound of thunder from somewhere above them, “Yami, I will not ask you once again, get out of the car and come with me.” Seto bristled.

“Piss off; I'm not moving an inch.” Yami said in annoying stubbornness. “And you will take me back home.”

“I will do no such thing.”

“Fuck you!”

“Fine, and don't say I didn't warn you.” Seto said, then he caught Yami's arm, exactly where he had caught it yesterday in the Bio lab, and tugged hard on it. Yami gasped and closed his eyes in pain. He was forced to leave his place and follow Seto into the house to avoid further pain. As it is, his arm had started bleeding once again.

“You stupid asshole. Leave me alone godammit.” He barked, trying to yank his hand out again but stopping and gasping again in pain when he failed, his eyes tearing up.

Seto led the way to the dinning room, when they got there; he closed the door and locked it to prevent any escape attempts from Yami's side.

“Why the hell did you bring me here, Kaiba?” Yami demanded starting to panic as he saw the brunet lock the door.

“You're staying here for two weeks,” was all he got.

“What the hell? Yugi will be worried sick. Let me leave this instant.” Yami demanded angrily once more.

“Yugi was already informed about your stay here. In fact he sort of couldn't stop it.” Seto said walking up to Yami, “Take a seat and have dinner.” he said, pointing at the chair and for the first time, Yami noticed that dinner was set out on the table.

“I don't want to eat, damn you Kaiba. I want to go home. Now.” Yami insisted folding his arms in front of his chest.

“Yami, sit down and eat.”

“No.”

“Eat!”

“Damn you, that's none of your business!”

“You can play anorexic with anyone except me. So stop being stubborn and eat something.”

This time, Yami narrowed his eyes viciously at Seto and walked towards the table. Then, without warning, he took one of the fine porcelain dishes in his hand and with all might threw it on the ceramic ground.

It crashed of course, with a thunderous sound, “Let me leave.” The former Pharaoh said in a calm voice as though he had not just spoilt the whole expensive dinner set that had been on the table at that moment, “Now!”

“Yami let me make a few things clear.” Seto said in a calm voice, never flinching at the loud noise caused by the plate's crash, “I don't like the way you've been acting for the past while, so I decided to take matters into my own hands.”

Yami snorted, “What the hell has the way I'm acting got to do with you? You don't even give a shit about me.”

“I do give a shit. For some reason, I don't want you to die.” Seto said, and for some reason, he felt a stab of pain in his heart at Yami's accuse.

“Yeah right.”

“Listen to me, and listen carefully, because I don't like repeating myself.” Seto hissed at him in anger, “You will be staying here for two weeks whether you like it or not. You will eat and you will stop what you're doing to your hands, mutilating them and misusing your body in that cruel and savage manner, do understand me?”

“How the hell do you know all this?” Yami asked astonishment visible on his pale features.

“I know it, and you don't need to know how.” Seto said, crossing his arms, “Now, why don't you nicely sit down and have dinner if you wish to get out of this room anytime soon?”

Yami narrowed his eyes, “Are you threatening me?”

“Yes, I guess I am.”

“Go to hell!”

“Is that so? Okay, enjoy your stay here because you're not getting out if you don't eat something.” Seto said, then turned on his heels and left the dinning room and a very angry Yami glaring daggers at him.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

For the next few hours, Seto sat in his study which was the right across the dinning room, and every few minutes he would cringe slightly when he hears the loud crash of something either against the wall or the floor. He had some sort of expected Yami to do so, so he took the most valuable things that could crash out of there, out of Yami's angry reach.

The CEO left his study at almost midnight, and strode over to the dinning room.

Yami was stubborn, really stubborn that is. He did not even attempt to touch the food. But he sure did prove a point that he didn't like his forced stay at the Mansion.

The room was a complete, absolute mess. Shattered glass was everywhere; the furniture was strewn all over the place as if it had been thrown across the room. The whole dinner table looked as though the tablecloth was pulled with all the plates, trays, spoons, forks and everything on it. He guessed that was the first crash he had heard. It was the loudest.

But what had scared him the most, was the fact that Yami laid unconscious, right in the middle of the room, blood smearing every inch on his arms.

Seto scowled, then went to get the first aid kit from the bathroom, and coming back to sit beside Yami on the ground. Very gently, he pulled him nearer to his lap, and started dressing the cuts. He was freaked out by the way Yami's arms looked; everywhere, everywhere there were scars, small, large, every single size that could be imagined. It was a grotesque, criss-cross pattern that sent a chill down the brunet's spine.

But one of them caught his attention in particular; his left arm, from the inside, there was a long scar that ran up from his wrist ending right where at the start of his upper arm. The CEO's frown deepened and he scooped the former Pharaoh up in his arms, and while leaving the room, his blue eyes searched for something on the floor, and when he didn't find it, he decided to come searching for it later.

And after setting Yami down on the bed, covering him, leaving and locking the bedroom door, Seto went back to the dinning room, and found what he had been searching for lying on the ground; the small, ancient blade Yami used. It was stained with blood and made the brunet's skin crawl. He picked it up and pocketed it and left so he could go to sleep.

Yami woke up next morning, to feel himself lying on a soft warm thing. He peeked his eyes open and started examining his surroundings. Immediately, his head started swimming and he felt nauseous. He closed them again and tried again, hoping for the disturbing feeling to be gone, but it didn't work.

And so he kept his eyes closed, wondering how far he had gone last night to feel this way. He then remembered that he was trapped within the Kaiba Mansion and his rival did not want to release him no matter what.

He lay there for a while, seething in anger, before hearing a click from the door before it was pushed open. Yami opened his eyes and fought back his nausea. He glared as best as he could at Seto. But it didn't work much as his crimson eyes were glazed over and unfocused.

“I would've said good morning if it wasn't two hours past noon.” Seto said smartly as he strode up to the bed to sit beside Yami who, to his pity, moved away as far as he could, so now he was laying on the very edge of the bed, “Yami, I'm not going to hurt you.” he said in almost a whisper.

Yami looked disbelievingly at him, before looking like his old self back; he sneered, “Didn't you say I wouldn't get out of the room except when I eat? I knew you couldn't keep your word.”

Seto frowned, “I moved you because you were going to bleed to death. I couldn't just leave you. Wait here for a moment please, although I doubt you can even move in this state.”

Yami scowled and turned his eyes elsewhere as the brunet left the room. Moments later he returned, carrying a large glass of what looked to Yami like orange juice. He wanted to protest and reject it but he knew that he had to drink it up so he could at least start seeing properly.

And when he was finished with that, he put the glass on the nightstand and started looking around the room for something. Seto noticed this at once and he took out the small knife he had taken yesterday and put it in front of Yami's eyes.

The former Pharaoh started towards it but it was removed quickly from his sight and into Seto's pocket once again, “Give that back.” He hissed in anger at the CEO, who merely shook his head. Yami bristled in anger, “Kaiba, I'm warning you. Give that back.” he threatened once again.

And again, Seto shook his head in a calm manner that got on the ends of Yami's nerves. “Please, Kaiba, please. Can I have that back?” Seto quirked an eyebrow; Yami was begging him to have this thing within his reach again?

“No. You'll end up killing yourself.” He said, still shaking his head calmly.

Yami's eyes welled up at the thought of loosing his precious knife. He whimpered pathetically, “Kaiba, please.” And he held on to Seto's hand, pleading him.

“No, Yami. I will not give it to you unless I'm hundred percent sure you won't hurt yourself with it.”

“I hate you.” was all he got in reply.

“Fine by me.” And he got up from where he had been sitting and left, locking the door behind him.
