Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Falsely accused ❯ Left to rot ( Chapter 1 )
`I blame you. How could I not? You're the reason, the person...who knowingly let me take the fall for you. Sitting quietly in the audience of that courtroom. You smirked at me, as the judge pounded that gavel and gave me YOUR sentence. It's your fault. Why couldn't you have told the truth? Why didn't anyone believe me? I was a perfect student, I had a perfect record...the expert witness said it was a psychological and emotional cry for attention. I didn't WANT any attention. I just want to go home...I sit here now, with my only link to sanity...and all I can see is your amused smirk. Why? Why did you let me take the fall?'
Ryou sighed and put down his pen, closing his only possession, a small diary. It was not more than a few hours ago that he'd been sentenced to serve 8 months in incarceration for breaking and entering, resisting arrest and contempt of court. Of course HE didn't do a thing, it was Bakura who had done the breaking and entering, and had easily shifted the blame on Ryou. He'd set the poor trusting hikari up. Ryou hadn't expected a thing when Bakura rushed past into the house. Ryou did however resist arrest. Who wouldn't? He was innocent!
"Kura...why? Why did you let them do this?! I'm...I'm not prison material. I'm scared..." he said softly, hugging his knees to his chest in the small holding cell. They would be shipping him off to the REAL prison in a matter of minutes now...and Ryou knew the stories of real prison. He'd done a report on it earlier in the year. He knew the very instant he set foot in there; he wouldn't be coming out a virgin. The very thought of it scared him senseless. He was too pretty for his own good, and to top it off, he was gentle. He wouldn't last 3 minutes.
"Y-yami please I'm sorry for whatever I did...please save me. I cant...you cant..." he whispered sniffling. He was scaring himself further remembering exactly what went on in prisons. He...Ryou Bakura was not a convict! He was a simple British boy who'd moved to Japan, attended school while his father was on expeditions and got on the honor roll every year since he was 5. He was a gentle brain, not a convict!
"I'm not a bad person...I didn't do it!" He said loudly. "I didn't do it! I'm telling you I didn't!" He half sobbed. Though, no amount of pleading would save his skin. All the evidence pointed to him. Mostly due to the fact, that Bakura had the same fingerprints and physical description as Ryou. A tall, thin, white-haired, teenager. Yes. That was Ryou. Had to be. There weren't any OTHER white haired teens in that area of town. Well, not any that the general public knew about. Ryou shook his head sadly. He was so ashamed, and he didn't even DO anything. But it hurt most when they'd called his father to tell him that he had been found guilty of said charges, and that he'd be serving an 8-month sentence in prison for it.
All because of Bakura, who was probably out there this moment, having a drink with Marik and proudly telling the tale of the stupid light. Yes. Stupid. His permanent records, in school, in society...in EVERYTHING were now tarnished by an act he didn't even commit. He wouldn't easily find a job; no decent college would ever accept him. He'd gone from the top of society's expectations, to the scum of the Earth in 6 seconds flat.
He looked at the handcuffs they'd left him in. After all he'd only be there for little over an hour before he was shipped off to Domino City Penitentiary. Home for the creeps, freaks, druggies, killers, rapists and thieves. He could just FEEL the laughter of his yami over that cold cup of alcohol.
"C'mon Ryou, it's time to go..." Ryou looked at the officer mournfully. It stung him deeply because his father knew this man too. To top it off, imagine the looks from his friends. Everyone but Marik, Yami, and Bakura seemed shocked beyond words. Ryou hoped beyond hope that Yami would clear things up...but he also knew that Yami didn't like to trifle too much. He did, but he never liked it. Poor Yugi's eyes couldn't have been wider.
Ryou cried silently, clutching the small diary and pen, as he walked with the friend of his family, to the truck that would be taking him to prison. The end of his road of innocence...the end of anything good in his life. "Ryou...I'm disappointed, but I still care a great deal about you. Please be safe...I'm sorry we couldn't just keep you in juvenile...but you're just too old." The officer said softly, patting Ryou's angel soft hair. Ryou nodded silently and with said officer's help, climbed into the truck. "Take care Ryou..." were the last words uttered before the doors closed on Ryou's freedom, and the real sentence began...
