Ryou rocked himself back and forth on the couch, it was midnight and Yami, Bakura, and Marik hadn't come back yet, and Ryou was worried. His father was dangerous and would be willing to kill the man who didn't bring his son home…Ryou knew this because his father had actually done it before. He didn't remember the mans name it wasn't necessary he never saw him again after his father was through with him…he went to court and everything but said that he had kidnapped Ryou and he was merely a father protecting his son. Ryou eyes welled with tears when his father called him his son, that was the only time he could remember him calling him his son…every other time he was a slave, a worthless whore to others. Ryou sniffled slightly as Malik; Marik's roommate gave him a glass of water. Ryou smiled at him as he sat down next to him.

"Don't worry, they'll be back safe and sound…you should probably get some sleep." Malik suggested

"I'm okay, I want to be awake when they come home no matter how long it takes." Ryou said sighing

Malik smiled at him "I can see why they like you, and Yugi." Malik said absent-mindedly

"Nani?" Ryou asked curious

"Huh? Oh nothing, just what Yami and Bakura said earlier." Malik said waving his hand to dismiss the subject.

"Onegai, continue." Yugi said walking up to them and sitting next to Yugi

"Well, while me Yami, Bakura, and Marik were all talking they kept on mentioning you two, they want to protect you always." Malik said

"They've said that before." Yugi said leaning against Ryou

"They don't mean to but I think they see you as more than their son's…Just like when Marik adopted me, after a while we grew closer and closer until…we're together now as a couple." Malik said blushing slightly

"Marik is your dad?" Yugi said slightly surprised

"No, I never called him dad…he was more like a best friend than a father, but I can tell how much Yami and Bakura really like you two, even if they don't realize it themselves they are in love with you. I think they are just afraid of scaring you away…especially you Ryou, they are worried that you'll hate them." Malik paused "Would you?" He asked

"I…I don't know, they've done so much for me…and even if they did feel love for me I'm not sure I could return their feelings." Ryou said softly

"Why not?" Yugi asked "I already love them, maybe not in a physical sense yet but…if they truly cared I could easily love them back." Yugi said smiling

"That's easy for you because you've experienced love Yugi…I don't think I even know how to love and I don't want to hurt them." Ryou said hanging his head

"Yes you do! You showed me love all the time, remember?" Yugi said lifting his chin

"And I know you care about Yami and Bakura, and me…" Yugi was cut off when the door opened and three out of breath people ran inside and gasped for air.

"What are you three doing awake?" Bakura asked gasping

"We, we were waiting for you to come home…what did you do?" Ryou asked meekly

"Burned his house down…" Yami managed

"I swear he chased us for a mile before we finally lost him!" Marik yelled

Ryou smiled and giggled slightly as both Yami and Bakura's eyes went wide never hearing the young boy laugh before.

"He didn't follow you here did he?" Yugi asked

"No, we lost him long before we got home." Bakura said picking Ryou up and hugging him strongly "But don't worry we're not finished yet." Bakura said grinning slightly at Yami and Marik who smiled back.

"I'm glad…is that wrong? To be happy about someone else's pain?" Ryou asked looking at Bakura.

"Well, it's not exactly right but in this situation I suppose it's appropriate." Bakura said smiling

"Its just, my father said my pain made him happy…I don't want to be like him is all." Ryou said resting against Bakura's chest

"You could never be like him Ryou." Bakura said hugging him smiling when Yami picked up the half asleep Yugi.

"Bakura?" Ryou asked meekly "Can I stay with you tonight? I don't wanna be alone." Ryou said blushing slightly

"Sure." Bakura said smiling standing up with Ryou still in his arms "Will you be okay on the way home Yami?" Bakura asked

"Yes, I'll just tuck Yugi in and I'll be off." Yami said nodding knowing he had to be home soon.

"Can I sleep with Ryou and Bakura?" Yugi asked looking at Yami

"Its fine." Bakura said as they all four went into the bedroom as the two younger ones changed in the bathroom.

Bakura bit his lower lip, "I shouldn't like him as much as I do." Bakura said hanging his head

"I know…but we have to deal with that later, we are far from finished with Ryou and Yugi's father yet." Yami said standing

Bakura sighed, "I know. What do you have planned next anyway?" Bakura asked

"I'm not sure…part of me wants to kill them but the other part says let them rot in jail." Yami said a bit angrily

Bakura smiled "We need to be concerned about Ryou though, strictly speaking he still belongs to his father." Bakura said, "What if they report him kidnapped?"

"He won't" Ryou spoke up "He can't, what would he say? I lost my son because I sold him to a complete stranger?" Ryou said sitting upon the bed "You don't have to worry about him reporting anything, but Meia will come by to check up on me, so if you're planning anything drastic I suggest you do it quickly." Ryou said simply

"Don't worry about my dad." Yugi said "He can't do anything to me now or ever again, we need to work on getting Ryou back into the family." Yugi smiled hugging Ryou affectionately.

Ryou smiled at his friend and smiled up at Yami and Bakura "I trust you, both of you…you two are the only ones who have cared about me besides Yugi, if its all right I want to be with you the rest of my life. I want to be with the people who love me, because I love them." Ryou smiled softly as the four boys shared a moment of silence.

I'm sorry if it was kind of short all my story muses have abandoned me ~pout~ but anyway I hope you like chapter 20 and of course…
