Chapter 12: Who's whose

Struggling with her feelings for Bakura and Atemu; Serena and Atemu as well as Bakura find out something

Atemu smiles as he closes the box and makes his way over to purchase it, "So you and Serena are going to get married?" Yugi asked, Atemu nods and smiles at his little brother, "If she says yes that is" he says. Yugi looks shocked at this figuring why she would say no, "Why do you think she would say no?" Yugi says, Jouno looks on at his friend, "Is it because you guys didn't wait?" he asks, Yugi then thinks back at that `Maybe she will say yes' he thinks to himself. Seto then joins the group, "So you are getting married? It's about time." Seto says and waves goodbye to his friends.

About a month later; Serena and the others are just finishing up at the market and are closing up as Shuree dangles her bracelet around, "Now all that is next is jewelry on your finger or should I say ring finger" says Shizuka as she admires the diamond bracelet. Serena smiles as she sees how happy her sister is and begins to think should she be happy; lying to two men who love her, sleeping with both of them and not knowing who should she really be with has taken its toll on her these past weeks. Ishizu who has been a little help to her, walks up to her and gives her a hug, "I know this is bad for you, but give yourself time to think. Besides I want to give you some time off because you have been looking pale and worn out for a while now." Ishizu says. As the girls clean up, Serena starts to lose her balance a little but manages and doesn't alarm the others, `What is wrong with me?'

Elsewhere Atemu is now making his way toward Serena's home, deciding that today was the day to ask her, unaware that Bakura is watching. He is about to attack when Yugi races up toward Atemu, "Big brother! Will you be asking her today?" he asks, Atemu nods his head as he sets down on a rock close to the house as Yugi smiles, "Well good luck." Yugi says before taking off.

Serena is now on her way home, when Shuree finally caught up to her, "Serena! You going home?" Shuree asks, she notices that Serena is sad and looking pale, "Are you alright?" she asks. Serena smiles at her sister, "I am ok, just tired and want to go home that's all" she says, as the two walk home together Shuree looks on at her sister `I wish this wasn't so tough for her." Shuree says to herself.

As they finally make it home, Shuree is first to notice that Bakura is by and waiting, so she decides to take off and get rid of him, "Hey is there something here, I just heard something, I am going to see what it is. You two have a nice talk ok." Shuree says signaling Serena that Atemu was there. Serena lightly smiles as Atemu hugs her tight, happy that they will be together but also notices she is looking pale, "Come on you look tired, I will take you inside" he says.

Bakura is now angry and starts to make his way toward the house when all of a sudden a figure pushes him down, "Back off thief, you leave them alone!! They are together and there is nothing you can do about it." Shuree says. Bakura smirks then trips her knocking her down, "You want a bet.

Back inside, Serena and Atemu are in the bedroom as Atemu sets her down on the bed, "Serena, I love you and I want to be with you forever. I can tell that work has been taking its toll on you and I want to relieve of that. With me being the pharaoh and you my queen I can give you everything and you not have to worry about being overworked." Atemu says as he approaches her. Serena looks at him confused before getting up, "Atemu? What do you mean?" she asks, but as Atemu kneels down in front of her, holding her hand, Serena heart starts to beat and she begins to tense up "What I mean is, I love you and will you marry me?" Atemu asks. Serena begins to cry as she looks at Atemu, happy and sad at the same time, but then she starts to feel herself become lightheaded and starts to whisper to him, "Yes…I will…marry…yo…" before she can finish she faints in his arms. Atemu desperately tries to wake her, "Serena!! Serena!!"

Outside, Bakura and Shuree face off when they hear the door open and it is Atemu holding Serena as he looks around, "Shuree!! Are you still here" he yells out. Shuree leaves Bakura there and races to her sister, "Atemu what is wrong?" she asks, Atemu looks at her frantic, "I asked her to marry me, she said yes but then passed out" he says. Shuree checks her and sees that her pulse is racing, "Come on! We need to get her to a doctor" she says as they leave.

"Serena? Will you marry me?" is all Serena hears over and over again as she says yes over and over again, "Serena? Serena?" says a voice. Her eyes slowly open as she see Atemu looking over her smiling and relieved, "Oh thank god you are ok." Atemu says as he sits her up. Elsewhere, Bakura has snuck into the clinic, dressed as a doctor searching for them `How could she say yes to that fool' he says to himself, but then he notices Shuree as she walks down a hall; figuring she is heading toward Serena, he follows.

Back in the room, Serena is now sitting up with Atemu next to her giving her water as Shuree rushes in, "Serena! Are you all right! I was so worried, you scared me," she says. Serena finishes up and begins to get up, "I am fine, I guess I haven't eaten or drinking much lately, but I will be fine," she says as Atemu helps her up. Outside the room, Bakura is listening until he hears someone approaching and hides, the doctor makes his way into the room, leaving the door open so Bakura can peel inside.

"So doctor, she is ok right?" Shuree asks, the doctor looks at his records and smiles at the group, "Of course, she will fine, she just needs to eat more for nutrition," he says. Serena smiles then looks shocked as notices the ring on her finger `I forgot I said yes' she says to herself, then she feels an arm around her waist as Atemu gives her a kiss on the cheek, "I will take care of her" he says. Bakura steams as he watches this about to go in a destroy everything in sight when the doctor speaks again, "Well that is good, because a family will take dedication and commitment" he says. Everyone (including Bakura) looks at him shocked, "Family??" Shuree says. The doctor smiles at them as he looks at Serena, "Yes you two should be happy, you are getting married and will be having a baby" he says.

Throughout the whole room, different expressions come across every individual's faces, some good…and some bad.
