Chaos's Notes: *bounces around* I have a new favourite duel monster that Celty only comes second to! *pulls out a card* The Magician of Black Chaos!! *hugs her Chaos plushie* He is so COOL!! I finally got to see the other episodes after the Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon mini arc, even if a few of them were screwed up, but none the less Chaos is my new favourite!! And Bakura's back!! *cheers louder* Damn Honda should've known that throwing away the sennen ring wouldn't work. THEY ALWAYS COME BACK!! *starts dancing around the room with her Chaos plushie* That means that down here we're only two episodes away from the TV special and Battle City! If there's one thing I like about Australia it's that we get episodes earlier than Americans do! *settles down* Okay, back to the ficcie. *sees her muses sweat-drop* What?! *shrugs* Anyway, I'm feeling a little psychotic at the moment so expect some morbid stuff in this chapter. Don't worry, this fic will end up Jou/Yugi *laughs evilly [I DO laugh evilly! I laugh just like Bakura! Almost......]*
Otogi Muse: *sweat-drops* R&R please, don't be scared by her behavior. As for your question in your review, Shenya-san, Ryouji Otogi [me] appears in the Dungeon Dice mini arc that comes shortly after the Duelist Kingdom arc ends and before Battle City.

Jounouchi took Nephthys over to the couch that Mokuba was sitting on and sat her down. The black-haired Kaiba looked up, eating a bit of a cookie. "What's wrong with her?"
"Don't know," Jounouchi confessed, glancing at him. "She murmured something about a ritual before passing out."
"Jounouchi, Mokuba, you must listen to me carefully......" Mokuba looked up at the older boy, who only just nodded to him and transfixed his gaze on the fallen angel, knowing it was her voice in their minds. "The Dark Lords have completed the ancient ritual of passage. What that means is that they have passed down their powers to other ones. I know only their faces, not their names but I believe you two know them very well."
Jounouchi's eyes widened, shaking as faces flashed in his mind. "Ryou......Otogi......Yu-chan........."
"Yes. Yugi has taken Yami's place, Ryou has Bakura's and Otogi's taken over from Seth. This part of the prophecy has come to pass but you both must stop the rest from ever taking place or else the world will be completely covered in an eternal blanket of darkness. Talk to the high elders, they shall tell you the rest of the prophecy." Nephthys's eyes opened and she smiled slightly. "Destroy the darkness. I know you can. I have faith in you both." She closed her eyes once more and disappeared, leaving only one pure white feather in her place. Her voice rang once more through their minds. "Take the feather, Mokuba. It has all my powers invested in it and then some. It will help you become a light. You have a choice and I know you'll choose to help us."
Mokuba did as told, walking forward and picking up the feather before it disappeared in his hands. Silver wings flashed briefly on his back before disappearing once more. He turned back to the blonde. "What now?"
"I s'pose now we go 'n see tha high elders she wuz talkin' 'bout," Jounouchi murmured, looking at the place the fallen angel had once sat. 'Bye, Nephthys. I won't let ya down.'

Ryou moaned slightly in his sleep, shifting over and expecting to find a warm body next to him. He only found a warm spot, which was slowly fading. He opened his eyes, finding the space next to him empty on the black silk sheets. Vacant of all life except for one thing. A necklace lay there and he remembered seeing it hanging around Bakura's neck last night during the heat of passion. The Dark Lord had refused to take it off, saying it was the very source of his power. Ryou let a hand caress over the gold surface, blinking when he found a note underneath the pyramid in the centre of the circle of gold. He sat up and started to read it, almost hearing Bakura's musical voice.
'Ryou,
By the time you read this note you would have probably figured out I have gone. However I am still with you; my knowledge and abilities are inside you now, as is a part of me. I brought you back to my room inside the Dark Pyramid. Here the Lights can't touch you, cannot penetrate our invisible fortress. I was locked inside this room for three centuries until now, thanks to your friend Mutou Yugi. He freed us from the darkness the pharaoh's brother placed us in so long ago. And now that the ritual has been complete, you, little Yugi and one other will carry on in our places, destroying the Lights and placing the entire world in darkness. I know you will do it, my Ryou. Shadows learn more about people than Lights ever could just by tapping into their minds and souls. You are filled with so much pain which is why you do the things you do, am I right? Constantly abandoned by your parents for business trips, ignored by your so-called friends. Ryou, if it was in my power I would be with you now, but I can only be in spirit. You captured my heart and yet you set my soul free.
Forever yours and only yours
Bakura, second Dark Lord of the Shadow Realm'
Ryou collapsed weakly onto the bed as he finished reading the note, shaking slightly. He blinked back hidden tears, forcing them behind a mask of ice. Everyone had always left him alone, Bakura had been right. He had grown up alone, faced the world alone as fate dealt him its cruel harsh reality. In the end his heart had become bitter and cold, forcing him to cover it with a mask of happiness. And when he thought he'd finally found people who cared about him, they ignored him, left him out of the loop so many times he couldn't count. Yes, Bakura had been right. That was why he did the things he did, why every night he dressed like he did and went out to clubs, hoping to meet someone who would change his life and make him happy as he had been when he was four years old. No one ever showed up until Bakura. He was always left with one-night stands, promises of true happiness and yet they never really came true.
There was a knock on the chamber door and Ryou allowed his chocolate eyes to look up as a female Shadow entered, bowing. "I am sorry to have bothered you, Ryou-sama, but Yugi-sama requests your presence."
"Sama? What do you mean?"
She gestured around the room with both her arms. "Everything Bakura-sama once had is now yours, Ryou-sama, seeing as how you have taken his place. You are now second-in-command of our dark forces. I am your personal servant, Lillith [1]." Lillith bowed again. "I was instructed to help you dress and accompany you to the war room. Yugi-sama informed me it would possibly take you some time to get used to everything and ordered me to stay by your side as you come to grips with our world."
Ryou felt his eyes grow cold as the girl walked over to the cupboard and began removing items of clothing from it. He gripped the silk sheets as darkness overtook his mind and soul, trapping him within the realm of shadows forever, never again to be able to walk in the light.........

Ryouji shifted slightly among the sheets, rolling onto his side and falling off the bed, letting out a muffled yelp when he hit the ground. He opened his eyes and blinked, shaking his head slightly as he leaned upward on one palm. He ran the other hand through his raven hair and looked around as he got up, frowning slightly when he saw the room. Everything was black and not just from the loss of light. Ryouji closed his green eyes, trying to remember the night before as he sat down on the large bed.
******************** -- FLASHBACK - night before -- ********************
"Kaiba, what do you think you're doing?" he asked when the tall brunette ran his hot tongue along his slender neck, stopping when he felt the pulse throbbing from the anxiety the other boy was feeling. The other lifted his head, a glint of something in his ice-blue eyes as they disappeared and reappeared in a large bedroom, away from prying eyes of the night. Ryouji started to panic, his breathing becoming sharp as he was laid down on a bed that was half the size of the room. His lips were captured in a bruising kiss before his question was answered.
"Simply put, Ryouji Otogi, you're about to experience something you've never felt before," Kaiba growled, flashing his teeth in a feral grin. That was when he saw them; two large canines that were twice the size of any normal humans. Ryouji felt his eyes widen as he realized why his neck had been the first place of attack. Even he had known about vampires from all the horror movies he watched.
******************** -- END FLASHBACK - present time -- ********************
A hand flew up to his neck, trying to find the telltale puncture holes in his neck. He felt nothing but smooth skin. Ryouji frowned, bringing his hand down as he heard a knock on the door. It was pushed open and a girl stepped through, looking to be no more than twelve or fourteen years old. She bowed. "Forgive me for intruding, Ryouji-sama, but Yugi-sama requests your presence in the war room. He instructed me to help you dress and accompany you there. I am your personal servant, Mae [2]."
Ryouji felt his heart lift a little at the mention of his friend's name. 'Well, let's see if you can answer the questions I hold, Yugi-kun.'
********************
The two boys met in the corridors, Ryouji surprised when Yusuke-kun simply gave him the cold shoulder and walked on towards their destination, being lead by another girl who looked the same age as Mae. The two servants opened the large doors emblazoned with some symbol, leading them into an even larger room than the ones they had already seen.
"So......you two are the other Dark Lords now?" purred a familiar voice. The raven-haired boy looked across the room, finding Yugi leaning against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest and encased in the same leather concoction they were, only his had a blood red cape. He pushed himself away from the wall, sauntering forward with his cold amethyst eyes closed. "I suppose we should now get down to business, presuming you two already know why you're here." Ryou nodded while Ryouji shook his head, still confused with the whole matter. "I suppose I shall have to explain our position to you then, ne Ryouji?"
The green-eyed boy felt himself blanch, surprised at the coldness in the smaller one's voice when he spoke his name. It wasn't "Otogi-kun" this time, simply "Ryouji" and his parents had only ever called him that when he was in trouble. "Very well then." Yugi snapped his fingers, three leather recliners appearing at command. "Sit yourselves down. It's a rather long story of our war against the Lights but one I shall gladly tell you." Ryouji sat down, allowing his eyes to wander around the room and noticing the two slaves were leaving with another girl. One he recognized well.
Anzu Mazaki.........

"So Nephthys was right -- the prophecy is beginning to come forth," murmured the high elder. "You were the first sign of the prophecy at your birth, Jounouchi, then came the return of the Dark Pyramid from the sands of time in Egypt and now the Dark Lords completing the ritual of passage."
"What d' we do now, high elder? What does tha prophecy f'tell next?" Jounouchi asked. He let his eyes wander off to Mokuba, who was just standing there and absorbing everything. He was surprised at how fast the kid had recovered from that attack.
"I cannot tell you that, Chosen One. You must let fate run its course. I can only tell you that you must be careful and prepare to battle the Shadows, for you both face a long, horrible war with the darkness. Both inside and outside of your hearts and souls."
Jounouchi felt his impatience kicking in. "Look, Nephthys told us before she vanished that ya'ld tell us th' prophecy. How c'n ya 'spect us to complete it if we dunno what it is?"
"First, Chosen One, you must find the third other. To complete the prophecy, the Light must have three angels to match the Shadow's three lords. Intelligence already confirms the finding of him, you just have to bring him to us, we'll do the rest."
Mokuba looked at the ancient angel. "Another one? But why?"
"With Nephthys's absence, it creates a dilemma in the prophecy. However, one of our angels from two generations ago wished to settle down in Ningenkai [3]. He mated with a ningen and in turn created halflings. The halfling of your generation is Shaadi Maoba."
The blonde American looked taken aback. "Wha...... Upperclassman Shaadi Maoba?! From Class 10-B??"
The elder blinked. "You know of him then, Chosen One?"
"Hell yeah. Extremely popular with the ladies and A's in every subject. His name is practically first on every scoreboard when exam results are out." Jounouchi shook his head. "So how do you expect us to convince him?"
"He already knows we exist. He knows of the centuries-old danger the Dark Lords bring -- it's been passed down in his family every generation. All you have to do is pass his tests and that will convince him you are who you say you are."
The black-haired child looked at Jounouchi. "From what Jou said about him, it sounds like they'll be tough."
"They are tests of the mind. Shaadi holds the Sennen Ankh, an item that allows him to venture into the minds of others. He uses this to determine which are good and who have bad intentions. He will be very helpful to you for he can sense demons a hundred yards away."
Jounouchi shoved his hands in his pockets. "Alright, alright. I get tha point. C'mon, 'Kuba." The two vanished and the elder sighed.
'It's in your hands, Malik.' He looked at the golden-haired boy who had just entered the room, wearing a Change-of-Heart-like robe. Golden wings protruded from his back, which contrasted greatly with his hair. Violet eyes remained as impassive as ever and a golden staff-like object was in his hand, the orb from it holding a Ra eye.
The sennen rod.
"Nephthys has been wrong before, Horus-sama. Are you sure you want to place the fate of the world and all others in the hands of a boy who can't even uphold his own in a street fight without help from another? I've been watching him as she requested and he was reluctant even to get along with Seth before he revealed his true identity."
"It may be true, Malik, but Nephthys said before she left us she felt energy from him. He knew Seth wasn't who he said himself to be, which I count as Light instinct. We Lights have always been able to pinpoint Shadows." Horus nodded. Malik sighed and disappeared after the two, wondering to himself why he ever agreed to watch the blonde idiot in the first place.
******************** -- Domino High School -- ********************
Shaadi Maoba felt a tingle go up his spine before he looked out the window, blue eyes narrowing as he reached with a hand to fling some long black hair over his shoulder. It was darker than normal outside, thunder crackling overhead as if a storm was coming. Unlike others, he could see the red that outlined the black clouds. His eyes opened wide in shock when he felt a dark aura coming towards the classroom at a terrifying speed. He leapt out of his seat, startling the classroom out of the test they were having. The teacher narrowed her eyes.
"Maoba-san, I assume you have reason for......"
"There's no time, damnit! Evacuate this room now! Something is heading towards us!" The upperclassman never yelled, even at delinquents, and when he did it was a wise decision to listen. Shards of glass cut through his uniform just as the last person was out of the room. The black-haired teenager turned, dropping into a fighting stance.
The demon was horribly ugly, almost like a goblin. Eyes were everywhere across its body, even small ones on its ears. Its legs were covered in black pants with a white sash, feet almost like the dinosaur Deinonychus once hand. Its hands were three fingered, claws coming from each one. It let out a screech of anger, of battle.
The remaining ones watching from the hallway gasped when they saw silver angel wings appear on their upperclassman's back. Shaadi did a back flip just as the demon lashed out with its spiked tail, narrowly avoiding a direct blow to the side.
He knew he was in over his head.........
