He Always Thought

Joey focused on the people standing along the sidewalks, entering and exiting the buildings. He appeared as if he was searching for someone in particular, but wasn't sure who.
It gave Bakura opportune moments to take sneak peeks at Joey's body. The teen was very attractive and Bakura didn't understand how he didn't see this earlier in his life. Maybe, if he had gotten Joey first, instead of the CEO, Joey would be screwing Ryou up the ass instead of driving to that damned concert. Of course, Bakura had come to believe in fate, which caused him to accept his hikari's death.
Joey peered over at the half-dazed x-bandit and cleared his throat. "Hey, Bakura? What's up? You've been acting strange since we left the mansion."
The man slowly looked up at Joey, a weak smile pressing against his lips. "It's nothing, Joey."
"It has to be something," Joey pushed. "You look as if the sky has stopped raining blood or something."
Bakura smirked at the comment. He gazed at his blonde friend for an instant and faintly blushed. "I was just thinking about Ryou."
Joey's expression fell to the white haired boy's name. "I see. Were you thinking of happy things…or the bad?"
The x-bandit stared at Joey and reached out a hand to caress his soft cheek.
Joey winced slightly, but started to enjoy the warmth radiating from Bakura's hand. He leaned into the hand and touched his arm gently.
"I…was thinking that if you loved Ryou, maybe he wouldn't have died," Bakura spoke solemnly as he scooted close to the blonde teen. "However, I realized right after his death that it was fate that brought him and you to this. It probably wouldn't have mattered if you were his lover. You would still end up severely injured and Ryou six feet underground." He took a deep breath before he continued. "Seto is very lucky to have you."
Joey squeezed the man's arm before he leaned forward and lightly brushed his lips against the other's. "I…I'm sorry he died, Bakura."
The man smiled warmly as he lifted his other hand to join its partner on Joey's face. He planted butterfly kisses all over the boy's forehead, eyelids, cheeks, lips, and chin. He could feel the heat rising from Joey's blush and chuckled. "After Seto screwed you senseless so many times in the past, you still act like a virgin." He was silent for a moment and then gave the blonde another kiss against his lips, making it last longer than before. "I better stop before I want to get carried away," Bakura whispered and broke away from the flustered teen.
The limo stopped shortly and a few minutes afterwards, Joey's door opened, allowing him to get out.
Bakura folded his arms over his chest and crossed his left leg over his right. "I'll be back to pick you up at 4:00 p.m. You got that?" Bakura asked strongly.
Joey blinked as he peered at his watch, which was going on 2:00 p.m. He nodded curtly. "Yeah, I've got it." He snorted as the door was closed, blocking the view between him and Bakura.
The limousine pulled away, merging with the traffic quickly.
The teen turned toward the building that seemed like a false nightmare for nineteen years. Of course, it didn't faze him as it would most people. He snorted as he approached the front doors, suddenly greeted by his doctor, Anui.
"Hey, Joey. I see you're ready to see Mr. Moto. Follow me," Anui commanded gladly. He led Joey through two hallways and an elevator to the third floor, and then another hallway that led to Yugi's office at the end. He patted Joey on the shoulder for reassurance and left.
A cold, disturbing inkling pounded away at Joey's gut and heart. Something told him that on the other side of that door was a man he wouldn't recognize as a person or a long forgotten friend. He took a deep breath and opened the door, that cold notion becoming heavier. The air was full of unfamiliar security. He hesitantly walked toward the office window where a young, male secretary worked. "Um…excuse me. I'm supposed to meet Yugi Moto…here." Joey felt somewhat embarrassed, having to tell a complete stranger that.
The young man smiled and cocked his head. "What is your name and I'll tell him you're here."
Joey nodded. "I'm…Joey Wheeler."
"Oh!" The man gasped. "Well, you can go right on in. He's expecting you."
Joey nodded again, trying to swallow the lump in his throat. The atmosphere altered again as he approached Yugi's office. What did he fear; that the man had changed so much that he wouldn't recognize him or something? The protuberance finally found its way down Joey's throat as he found the office door and reached for the handle then squeezed it. Without hesitation, the door flung open, swinging Joey forward onto the floor. He let out an agonized groan as he looked up over his shoulder at the culprit. "Yugi?"
The man smirked as he peered down at the blonde. "I was just checking if you made it or not." He leaned out the doorway and hollered into the secretary's office. "Randal. Please don't let anyone disturb us."
"Yes, sir!" The young man replied enthusiastically.
"Wow! You've…changed…a lot…" Joey stuttered.
Yugi's hair had a deeper violet tent to it and his eyes narrowed like Atemu's. He stood at a descent height of 5'10, the same as Joey. He wore almost the same clothes from when he was a teen, except his shirt was a crimson red with a fishnet, long sleeved shirt underneath, and he wore navy blue jeans with black leather boots to finish his attire off. The only thing Joey didn't see was the Millennium puzzle around Yugi's neck.
The teen stood up and straightened his clothes out. "Long time no see, heh."
Yugi's eyes closed partly, as if fixated on the something. "Yes, a very long time."
Joey particularly didn't like the look the man gave him. It was too predatory for his taste. He took a few steps back until the back of his legs gave way to a solid oak, cushioned chair.
Yugi chuckled. "What's the matter? You act like you've seen a ghost."
Joey blinked. "No…not really."
"Oh. Then you won't be frightened if I did this?" Yugi gracefully stepped forward and leaned down, capturing Joey's lips in a lingering kiss.
Joey would have been more than happy to let out a gasp, if the man's mouth wasn't claiming his. When they finally broke apart, Joey attentively covered his lips with his fingers.
Yugi smiled warmly at the teen. "Didn't mean to surprise you, Joey. I treat all my `young' male patients like that. They generally like it." He walked to the side of his desk, stroking the side of it with the tips of his fingers.
"'Young' male patients? Are you a gay pedophile, Yugi?" Joey asked, not sure if it sounded like a joke question or not.
Yugi peered up at the ceiling as he turned toward Joey, a look of contemplation. "Hmmm. I don't know. Usually, my patients are between the ages of fifteen and eighteen." He laughed. "I guess partly, yes."
"What would Raphael say about that?"
"He already knows. He's seen it before, but has never said anything about it."
"What? Why?"
"Maybe, because, he knows I'll always love him. Raphael is my first love and always will be."
Joey gawked. "So, you were never in love with Atemu?"
Yugi shook his head. "We were just close friends. I could never really see myself loving him like that. I also knew it wouldn't work out in the end." He stared at Joey and smirked. "Raphael also told me that you came by the game shop with your son. How are you taking to that by the way? I mean, knowing you have children?"
"Erm…well. I'm actually having fun." Joey grinned.
"Yes. I'll agree with you. However, when they're infants, they're quite a hassle," Yugi spoke softly, as if remembering when he had to take care of Sugoroku when Raphael was busy in the game shop.
Joey pondered for a moment. "Yugi? I never did ask Raphael about this, but, who gave birth to your son?"
Yugi stared at Joey thoughtfully for a moment. "Isn't it obvious?"
Joey nodded. "I kind of figured. I just wanted to make sure." A faint blush crossed his cheeks. "Since…you've been through this…I was wondering about something."
"What's that?" Yugi asked as he rested his chin on the top of his folded hands, showing interest.
The teen's face became darker. "Seto gave birth to four children...and I don't know if he's tired of it or not, but…instead of insemination…I wanted to be there…to help him have my children."
Yugi was silent for a moment, his expression shifting to serious. "You realize how old Seto is, right?"
Joey nodded reluctantly. "He's only thirty-nine. Is that too old for a man?"
"Unfortunately, it is in his case. He's the only man known alive to give birth to four children." Yugi smirked. "He's actually broken the record."
"Then…what's the problem?" Joey asked apprehensively.
"From what he told me a couple years ago, his doctor said, `at his age, it would be harsher on his body, and could possibly kill him. Men near the age of forty aren't normally meant for the stress of carrying infants in their bodies, including four separately, and it's gradually worn Seto's body down.' I'm just going word for word, Joey. You might want to ask Seto yourself. He knows more about it than I do," Yugi explained.
Joey's whole body started to tremble, in fear that he may lose Seto sooner than he thought. "D-does that mean…Seto's lifespan has been shorten to less than a couple of years?"
Yugi noted the tears settling on the rims of Joey's eyes. He sat back in his chair, his breath hitching into his throat. "No! Seto is far from death, Joey. It probably means that, if he were carrying another child it `would' shorten his years…incredibly. He would die before the baby was born."
Joey whimpered. "I…I just wanted to be there for him this time. If I could, I would have his children. However, I can't. I wasn't chosen to be a…mother."
The man stood from his desk and approached Joey cautiously. "Don't talk like that, Joey. It's not like you to get so depressed all the time." Yugi reassured, "I'm sure Seto was happy to have your children, even if you weren't there by his side."
"I wanted to be there though, Yugi!" Joey's tears won the war and gradually, one by one, started gliding down his cheeks. "I…just wanted to be the best lover and father."
"No one is perfect Joey." Yugi hugged his friend tightly and stroked his back soothingly. "Joey, stay here while I get you a glass of water, okay?"
Joey nodded and waited. A couple minutes later, Yugi's cellular phone on the desk, rang. He stared at it for a couple of seconds before deciding to answer it. "Hello? Yugi Moto's office?"
"Joey, is that you?" A frantic voice asked.
"Yeah, it is," Joey, replied. "Raph?"
There was no reply for a moment and then he heard a loud shouts.
Joey pulled his ear away from the phone, realizing it was other people in the background. He put his ear back to the receiver. "Raphael? Hey! What's going on?"
Finally, there was a reply. "Joey, get Yugi now!"
The teen nodded. "Okay!" He dropped the phone and ran out into the hall, just in time to see Yugi returning. "Yugi! Your husband is on the phone. He needs to talk to you…NOW!"
Yugi gasped as he ran the rest of the way down the hall and handed the cup to Joey. He picked up the phone and spoke into it. "Raph? What's the matter? What? No way! No, I'll be down there as soon as possible." He hung up his cell phone and stared at Joey. "There's been an accident at Domino High School. Two dragons started dueling, and apparently one of them took the worse part of it and used the school as its landing pad," Yugi explained frantically. "You're coming with me!" He grabbed his coat from off his chair and pushed Joey out the door. "Come on! We need to get going." They raced urgently to the elevator and came across Anui. "Anui! Tell Bakura that Joey is with me. There's been an accident at my son's school. I need to make sure my son is alright."
Anui nodded. "Yes, sir! I'll tell him. I hope you're son will be alright."
"I do too," Yugi said and pulled Joey into the elevator with him.
Not a second sooner, there was a ding, indicating the elevator had stopped, allowing them to get off. Both boys raced out of the hospital to Yugi's car and hurriedly pulled out into the highway, causing other vehicles to stop and collide into each other.
Joey looked out the back window and winced. "Ew! Remind me to never get in your way when your son is in danger," Joey pointed out.
Yugi gave a small smile, glad that Joey was there to help him relax a bit. He gazed at the car's radio clock, which read 3:05 p.m. Apparently, his son had just gotten out of school when it took place. "Damn it!" He growled.
Joey also noticed and frowned. He was glad that his sons had home schooling, but it was the thought that Sugoroku was Yugi's only child and he may lose him. Joey prayed mentally that they would make it in time.

Sisco: Don't get mad at me because Yugi said he would never love Atemu that way. Trust me! That's my favorite couple, but it's not up there with Seto x Joey! XD I also love Raphael x Atemu x Yugi!
Yugi: Yeah…but…Atemu is supposed to be here in this story.
Sisco: >.> No, he isn't. Maybe in uninformed author stories, but I got nosey and decided to read ahead on the episodes.
Yugi: T.T no fair!
Sisco: I'm sorry. Er…most of you really didn't need to know that. So, just ignore the Author notes. <.< >.>
