Freya's Snare:
Heaven's Door
Author's Notes: Okay this is another A/U Almighty One knows I should finish working on the stories I already have up before working on this any others. But *shrugs* I am working on several one shots. One will be for YYH a series that I haven't worked on in months. Anyways, I will try and get this story slightly historical accurate. But there will be some changes in dealing with certain characters.

I do NOT own any of the YUGIOH characters

The year is 865 and his majesty, King Ethelbert of the House of Wessex, sits on the throne of England. England has not seen peace since he came into power; for Danish Vikings, fierce pirates from Denmark had been terrorizing Europe's children since the late 700s. They enslaved the surviving villagers in many seaside towns and villages; killing those they believed posed a threat to them and their ways, along with many women and children. There were few people who did pose a threat to them and because of the surprise with which the villagers were attacked and the swiftness of with the Vikings retreated. Whatever they did not take with them after their raids they burned.

The Viking Jarl Rorik has sent his eldest son, the twenty year old Prince Yami on a raiding mission to the Southern coast of England. The prince took with him twenty ships with thirty men on a ship. Each Ship had a high ranking noblemen to lead that ship's raiding party; save for Yami's ship who kept with him at all times his best friend, Joey, a trusted nobleman and friend of his father's, Pegasus, lead another ship while some of the lesser nobles lead the other ships. They were bond for a small village hidden deep within an English forest on the by the North Sea.

The small town of Chesterfield was hidden deep within the forest a mile from the North Sea north of London. It had done well so far keeping hidden from the Viking invaders; but their luck, as with many others was about to run out. The Vikings were rowing themselves closer and closer to the southern shores of England; across the dark and calm sea.

The young knight opened his blue eyes as cold as a cold December morning with a fresh blanket of snow on the ground and stared up at the dark ceiling from beneath brown bangs. He narrowed his eyes and his lips twisted into a scowl, he was restless once again much like he was the night before a battle. But no war was going on and aside from the Viking invaders there were no other invaders stupid enough to attack Chesterfield. The village was surrounded by trees on all four sides and almost impossible to reach without getting lost. Besides even if they made it they would have to pass the fortress walls and even then they would have to deal with the knights to which the people of Chesterfield looked to for protection.

Yes, the young knight, Seto Kaiba, decided should the Vikings decide to come he and his men would succeed where others had failed.

Even with this self proclamation Seto still couldn't find it in him to fall asleep, sighing he detached himself from the serf girl's embrace and left the warmth of his bed to stare out over the dark forest in the direction of the North Sea attempting to see where the feeling of dread. A strong South wind was blowing in from the sea and he could smell something fowl mixed with the salt. It was almost like the elements were telling him that something was coming. Would the Vikings really be foolish enough to invade the village?

No, it had nothing to do with the Vikings he was too bored with always battling dragons and sleeping with tired serf girls; he wanted something to happen in this town to bring him some adventure. He didn't want to be stuck protecting the fools of the village from the occasional raiding dragons or thieves. He wanted to protect them from a real invasion and he was sure the Vikings would give him the battle he was looking for. He turned away from the window and climbed back into bed and finally fell into a restless sleep.

The Viking war ships moved along the calm ocean: swiftly and silent like a predator stalking its prey. They were slowly creeping up on their destination and they could taste the smell of victory was already in the air. Yami watched his men row the Drakkar cross the water the full moon lighting the way. The stars shone brightly down casting a gentle glow on the armor and shields of his men. He stared out into the distance and watched has the moon's light became stronger and focused on a spot on the deck of the boat before him.

The moon and star light morphed and took the shape of a woman from the uncivilized country of England. Her pitch black hair cascaded down her body in thick waves and her dark blue eyes pierced his soul igniting a fire within his veins; her pale skin shone beneath the starlight and her full lips parted attempting to breathe in the cool night air. His burgandy eyes took in her ripe, firm breasts, before journeying down to rest on her flat stomach, and then finally resting on her smooth hips and thighs; he took in her dark curls and licked his lips in desire. The apparition moved slowly swaying her hips and walked behind him bringing her arms up under his arms she leaned forward brushing her lips against his ear.

“Come find me my prince,” she whispered, before disappearing when the moon's light was covered by dark clouds.

Yami tilted his head back and released his battle cry; it was soon joined by Joey and the others; the berserkers, their blood inflamed began to beat their swords against their shields the winds carrying the battle cry across the river until it was nothing but a whisper to the main land allowing its inhabitants to sleep on in ignorant bliss. The gods had blessed this mission and he would be rewarded with a heathen beauty; a gift from the great goddess Freya.

In a small house with the barest essential's a young woman stirred awake and stared around the room trying to find the reason for her awakening so late at night. She glanced out the window and frowned it was midnight and she had to get up before dawn to get the sheep to the field before the sun appeared on the horizon. Her blue eyes blinked when the sudden candle by her bed was lit and she glanced up and flashed a reassuring smile at her cousin. His brown eyes stared at her trying to find out what was bothering her.

“Do not worry so cousin,” she said gently. “All is well.”

“Are you sure cousin?”

“Very, all is well there is nothing that would harm us outside of the house.”

He frowned and for several minutes and she worried that he would see through her and to the worry inside her. Who would know about the small town of Chesterfield save for those within the Lord's circle and even then few of them knew about it. So there was no need for her to worry about someone coming to harm them. After all if no one knew about a village how could they attack it and why would they even bother to attack it?

With this comforting thought in mind she laid her head back down on the straw mat and closed her eyes. Her cousin sighed and ran his pale hand through his wild mane of platinum blonde hair and extinguished the candle before returning to his own bed and following his cousin's example of going to sleep.

Neither of them realized that this would be the last night they would see each other alive, for a very long time.

Author's Notes: Lingalanodel, a friend of mine, pointed out that Yami's view of Arora is kinda like a whole Paris/Helen thing and she is kinda right. Okay a few things before ending not all characters will be in here so sorry if you don't see characters you like. Ah yes, and please review. Thanks to Lingalanodel for helping me create the summary
