Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Friends Forever...Right? ❯ Pinky Promise ( Chapter 1 )
I sighed trying to turn my thoughts from him. I haven't seen him in over 8 and a half years. I'm 15 now, and his image still haunts me to this day. I'd known him sense I was four-he was five- and we'd been best friends ever sense. Too bad he was adopted when he was eight. I was seven. It was a month from my birthday a week after his….

"Seto!!!!" I yelled running over to him.
"What is it, Nicole?" He asked smiling while slowing down to a stop on his swing.
"Mr. Kaiba, the one who sponsors the orphanage, is coming for a visit!" I said my eyes sparkling as Mokuba, who was also swinging, slowed to a stop next to his brother.
"So?" He asked and started swinging again.
"Sooooooooooo, this is your chance to get out of here!"
"Nicole" He swung past me. "He won't adopt anyone." He swung back. "What makes you think he'll" he swung forward again. "Adopt me?"
"The fact that he never refuses a challenge."
"What do you mean?" Mokuba asked, being his curious self.
"Well, Mokie, you know how Seto's great at chess?" I asked using the nickname he allowed only Seto and I to call him by.
"Yeah."
"Mr. Kaiba's, good at chess, too. But he's not as good as Seto. Seto, your strategies are constantly strong and well focussed, where as Mr. Kaiba's strategy is often times off then mark, and he's cocky so he tends to lay back and let the match play itself out. If you can throw him off you'll win for sure." I said. I knew every bit of information on him. And some things, like his strategy, I had noticed on my own from constant surveillance of his matches. Even the experts, who had examined his matches from every angle and aspect had not seen this. And I was only seven!
"That's not a bad idea, Nicole." Seto said and again slowed to a stop. " Thanks." He said and hopped off the swing running off into the orphanage.

"I'm so happy for you, Seto!" I said running into a hug.
"I'm happy, too, Nicole." He said smiling so broadly I was sure his face would crack.
He pulled away out of my embrace. I held my pink out. "Friends forever?"
"Friends forever." He agreed linking his pinky with mine.
"Promise you'll write me?" I asked and moved to his side.
"Promise." He answered and walked into the waiting limo.
Only thing is he never got the chance to write me because the very next day I was adopted by an American family and moved to America.
