A blonde woman's screams ran out through the hospital. She was in labor, delivering her first child. A silver haired man paced nearby, watching on helplessly at his wife's agony. After what seemed like an eternity, the screams stopped to be replaced with the cries of a new life entering the world. The woman, Cecelia, was relieved, but ghostly pale from loss of blood.

The baby was a girl; a girl covered in a bloody mess, but all the same a girl with brown eyes and blond hair. "Call her Catherine." And with that, Cecelia passed away.

Five passed, each one lonelier than the last. Her father had on a `vacation'. During that time she spent her time exploring the never-ending hallways, corridors, turrets, towers of her father's castle. She learned everything she needed to know for her age from a tutor appointed by her father. Her only sources of entertainment and enjoyment were reading and watching television. Her father had forbid her to use any computers or telephones. She wasn't permitted to write letters to anyone, not that there was anyone to write to. So Catherine had almost no contact with the outside world.

Then suddenly one day, her father came back. He sent her off to the Arcane Sanctuary after hearing that his daughter especially enjoyed magic shows. The school was an academy that taught students all the tricks in magic. But it was true. He just came home, didn't utter a word to Catherine, and shipped her off the Arcane Sanctuary in Australia.

Short chapter, but there's more. Review please!
