Paralells

It had been five years. Five years. He could hardly even believe it, when he stopped to remember. Yugi had spent the last five years of his life with his friends in Domino City. He was amazed at how much his friends grew and how close they all were. Even now, with Tristan and Bakura in college a few hours away, they were still best friends. Mai and Joey got themselves a small apartment nearby so Joey could help Yugi run the shop his grandfather left to him. Yugi himself was taking night courses at the community college.
Tea and Yami had become extreamly close over the past few years. Yugi wasn't suprised. Tea had helped him complete the spell giving him physical form, and he had helped motivate her to apply to an Arts Accademy in New York State. When she was accepted, the entire gang was overjoyed. Yugi, Bakura, Tristan, Joey, Mai and Yami took Tea to the airport that day, and none of them had ever seen her happier.
"I'll email you guys when I get there, I promise."
"Don't worry bout us, Tea, you just have fun!" Joey gave tea a big bear hug.
"Yeah, you better send us all sorts of pictures. I wanna see what the Big Apple really looks like!"
"You got it, Tristan!"
After the hugs were dispensed and the good-byes were said, Yami pulled Tea aside.
"I'm always here if you need me."
"I know, Yami. I can't thank you enough for all you've done for me."
"Don't worry about it. Just don't forget about us."
"You know I won't. I'll see you at Christmas, ok?"
Yami smiled and nodded, blinking back tears. Tea kissed him on the cheek and smiled before boarding her plane.
Yugi walked up to Yami as the plane taxied down the runway.
"She'll be back, Yami. Don't worry."
"I know Yugi. I just wish I had told her..."
"I know."
Bakura and Tristan caught the bus back to their campus. Mai and Joey gave Yugi a ride home. Yami decided to walk, much to Joey's dismay.
"Dude, he's crazy! That's a two hour walk, man!"
"Yeah, Yugi. We're driving you home anyways." Mai added.
"I know, guys, but he has a lot to think about."
"Yeah, like what?"
"Like Tea."
"Oh..."
"What? Mai, I don't get it... What about Tea?"
Yugi smiled. "Joey, Remember Lindsay Bravo?"
"What from high school?"
"Yeah, and remember what you used to say about her?"
"Yeah that she was the one that got away? But what does that have to do with...oh."
Mai started teasing Joey about "that Lindsay Chick", and didn't stop the whole ride home. Yugi just smiled and thought about the one he let get away...

Six months had passed since Tea left. Joey and Mai got engaged. Bakura got an excellent job with a prestigious law firm in Domino. Tristan finished college. Yami got a job and found, and met a woman named Donna. It took some coaching on the part of his friends, but Yami finally gained the courage to ask her out. Yugi continued to look after the Game shop, and finish his night courses. Actually, there were students coming from overseas to take part in his business class and learn more about Japan in general.

"Ladies and Gentalmen, as you all know, we are lucky enough to have some students here with us from North America. They are taking part in various Business Education programs, and are here to learn about Japan. I hope you will welcome them with me tonight."
Yugi wasn't paying much attention. In fact, he was looking over some of the accounts from the game shop, as he often did during slow classes. Then something caught his eye. He looked up, his eyes wide. His pencil dropped to the floor. He never thought he would see that beautiful shade of red again in his life, but there she was.
"...And from Ryerson Polytechnic in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, we have Miss Darcy Labrosse..."

:) See, I'm not that cruel. I always give my red-heads a happy ending...
So it ends. I hope you all enjoyed! A small, PWP grouping of one-shot fics are half-finished on my screen here, and Behind Closed Doors seemed to get a laugh, I might do more of that. Until then, cheers!
