~*Three Years Later*~
Yami stood next to the metal gates of the cemetery. Sighing sadly, he walked inside, maneuvering through all the different tombstones. In one hand he carried a small bouquet of blue, red, and violet flowers.
It was dark that night. Dark and windy. The air blowing through the trees created an eerie mournful tune. The wind whipped against Yami's bangs, smacking them violently against his face.
The spirit stopped when he reached the correct gravestone. Tears filled his eyes as he fell to his knees and embraced the headstone as if it were a person. The salty liquid fell down his cheeks, landing on the soil underneath. He sobbed, pulling away and taking out the old flowers to replace them with the new healthy ones.
Once finished, he wiped his eyes dry and stared intently at the name on the black polished stone. His crimson orbs landed on the picture placed in the top right corner. He smiled softly and traced it with his hand, outlining the youthful features of the boy in it.
"Hi Aibou..." he stared, shifting slightly so he was seated cross-legged. There was no reply, but Yami continued anyways. "I-I brought you some new flowers since I know you've had those ones for a while. I'm sorry I haven't visited you as much as I hoped; are you lonely?"
He paused before continuing, "I've been really busy lately. Did I tell you I moved in with Seto? We adopted a son...and-and named him after you." Yami took a picture out of his pocket and placed it inside the little flower pale. "He's a mischievous boy, but a complete angel and I'm proud of him. He's five now."
"So how are you in heaven? Did you ever meet up with Ryou? I hope so; you two should be happy up there together."
He smiled and placed a hand on top of the tombstone, "let Ryou know that Bakura still does love him. He's calmed down a lot and has taken up being a nursery school teacher, just like Ryou wanted to be...and he loves the children." He stopped a moment, "I got a job at Kaiba Corp. as a secretary so I wouldn't have to live off Seto. Mokuba has become less wild as well. He misses you, Aibou; as do we all."
Taking another picture out, he placed it in the flower pale, "Jonouchi wanted me to give this to you. He and Mai got married right after they graduated. Mai says she's sorry about your death and that she wishes she was here for your funeral three years ago. She and Jou opened up there own Veterinarian office." He chuckled, "they have three puppies at home. They named their favorite after you."
Not really knowing what else to say, and not ready to leave his Hikari yet, he decided to just fill him in on other people and things. "Anzu moved to America, if you wanted to know. She was upset that I broke up with her for Seto. I haven't heard from here since she left but I did see an add for an American Ballet show featuring her....I don't know if you care or not, since I know you really didn't like Anzu that much."
He shuddered as the wind blew against him more fiercely, "I don't know what else to say, Aibou. Honda and Shizuka moved to Tokyo last winter. Shizuka is I college there. She's training to be a doctor."
"That's about it, Aibou...Aibou I hope you know how sorry I am. It's all my fault that you're here and I'm alive...but Ryou needs company and to wish you back to life would be selfish. I really hope you're happy there...and just know...I love you so much still and I hope you can forgive me for being the cause of your death. I know I can't forgive myself ever...."
He gasped as he felt an arm on his shoulder. He spun around to see Seto standing there, his blue eyes tearful yet a smile on his face, "He'll forgive you. He died because he loved us and he knew that as long as the bitterness between us lasted, it would be like a living hell. He died to give us a chance."
"I know, Seto but...I miss him."
The brunette nodded, helping Yami onto his feet. He wrapped his arm around the shorter's shoulder, "I know. I do too. Life is...different without him with us." He looked down into teary scarlet orbs, "why don't you go wait in the limo? We'll come back later this week?"
The spirit nodded and retreated out of the cemetery after kissing the tombstone and touching the picture of his deceased Hikari.
Seto looked at the gravestone, "Yugi...I'm sure Yami has filled you in on everything so there isn't much for me to say. I hope you are happy, and hope you find joy in knowing that Yami and I are as well. We mourn for you and will see you when the time comes. Bakura wants you to watch over Ryou for him, okay?"
He sighed, looking towards the exit gates and seeing Mokuba, Yami and his adopted son, Yugi. The little red haired boy was waving, yelling for him to hurry or they'll miss the Circus.
"I have to go Yugi but I promise we will visit you soon...I promise." He patted the top of the stone before stuffing his hands in his pockets and walking towards the exit where his new family was waiting for him.
