Chapter 2: Rex's Reaction
Rex hummed softly as he trudged up the path to the small place he shared with Weevil. He'd just left the Kaiba mansion, where he and Mokuba had decided to part on amicable terms... After much urging from the younger Kaiba, Rex was ready to tell Weevil how he felt for him. Internally the brunette scolded himself for not being there for his roommate for the past few months, but then a small smile played across his face. It wasn't as if he'd known what to do when the boy he loved had collapsed under the weight of his delusions, but Rex was determined to never let such a thing happen again. Taking a deep breat, Rex pushed lavender bangs from his face and stared at the front door and all the possibilities that lay beyond the wooden fixture.
Chiding himself for acting like a nervous schoolgirl, he shrugged his shoulders and stepped into the apartment as he'd done countless times before. Today would be different, though - he'd make sure of it. The first thing he noticed was the music - Weevil's favorite NightWish song, Dead Boy's Poem, was playing softly, the cd skipping and repeating a piece of the haunting melody over and over. "And you... I wish I didn't feel for you anymore," accompanied by a melancholy pian, "And you... I wish I didn't feel for you anymore..." Taking a few steps into the living room, the second thing that Rex noticed was the object of his affection lying on the couch, staring at the ceiling with a forlorn look upon his face. "What happened, Weevil? I'll never understand why you listen to such depressing music when you're already feeling down, but that's okay, I guess. We need to talk..." Rex said, sitting at the other end of the sofa and chewing on his bottom lip nervously. When there was no reply from the turquoise-haired teen, he sighed and continued. "I just want you to know - I'll be here for you no matter what, because I... Well, I... Damnit! This would be easier if you'd just look at me!" Rex stood and moved to the floor beside Weevil's still form, sitting and reaching out for one of his hands, but pulling back before he actually touched him. Sometimes Weevil could be strange about having his personal space invaded, especially when he was in a mood like this.
He sat there quietly, toying absently with an empty pill bottle from the coffee table in front of him, waiting for a reply from Weevil. Brown eyes clouded over with confusion as he noticed the label, mumbling, "Ambien? Didn't you just get this filled a few days ago?" A sickening feeling settled in his stomach as he turned, in slow-motion, to look at the frail boy with wide, panicked eyes. "N...No..." He didn't even realize he was chanting the word over and over like a protective mantra which could rewind the time that seemed to have frozen. "And you... I wish I didn't feel for you anymore..." The song burned itself into his heart as his world fell apart, staring into once-beautiful green eyes which would never blink again, which would never mask insecurity with arrogance again, which would never see his love returned. "No... No..." Rex tenderly brushed strands of hair from the pale face, taking Weevil in his arms and laying his head against his chest. There was no heartbeat, no breath left. He was embracing a corpse, a lifeless shell which once held the only person he'd ever truly loved. Shock wedged itself deep inside the grief-stricken teen, an uninvited companion to the last dredges of rationality that seeped from his mind. Rex pressed his lips gently to cold ones, whispering, "I never got to show you... I love you... How much better my life was because you were in it..." "Was... Were..." The words seemed to echo throughout the room, mocking his loss. Rex squeezed his eyes shut, clapping his hands over his ears in a futile attempt to block out the sounds. It did no good - the repetition was only in his head. "Was... Were..." The brunette sobbed silently in the clamor of his own voice's echoes.
Breaking down, he let the last remnants of his sanity slip away unnoticed, kissing the small boy's still body again with desperation. "This isn't real... You can't be gone..." In his delusional state, Rex saw Weevil smile up at him and heard Weevil speak. "Baka Dino, you really think I'd miss out on this?" Rex grinned weakly through his tears. "Why'd you wanna go and scare me like that?" he asked as he caught the other's lips once more, this time passionately. He opened the other's mouth with his tongue, tasting him and reveling in how his affections were returned, unaware that the mough he was ravishing rested stiff and unmoving against his. He broke away, gasping, and watched Weevil's eyes fill with the insecurity he'd grown so familiar with. That was okay, he'd prove to the wonderful creature that he'd never need to doubt himself again. He'd show him just how loved he was. "Was..." Rex's face fell in confusion, some vague realization gnawing at him, but he quickly pushed it aside. "Rex, would you... make love to me?" his mint-haired love asked, voice quivering slightly. Rex nodded, proceeding to kiss every inch of visible skin, smirking against the teen's creamy white neck as he slowly unbuttoned the trademark green shirt. The brunette hadn't ever known Weevil to be this submissive, but that was okay. Everything was okay.
He teased a dusky nipple with his tongue, enjoying the gasps and moans it elicited, although the room stayed as silent as before, save the cd still repeating the one phrase. Rex struggled with Weevil's dead weight in order to remove the rest of his clothing. He gazed at the naked body, telling the empty shell. "You're so beautiful... I'll be gentle" Kneeling between Weevil's legs, his eyebrows furrowed in concentration, the long-haired teen wondered briefly why the smaller boy wasn't hard yet. The gnawing feeling returned; he pushed it away again just as quickly, stripping himself in mere seconds, eager to feel his lover's body trembling beneath him. Not having done this before, he knew nothing about preparation and pressed himself into Weevil's stiff body with only a small bit of pre-cum as lubricant. He moaned at the painful tightness, resting against the former champion duelist as he hungrily explored his mouth again. Brunette hair framing both thier faces, Rex slowly began to thrust as Weevil's hips moved to meet his own, grunting into the kiss rather than breaking it.
He was finally one with his diminutive lover, and it was so much more than he'd hoped for... The faint blush across Weevil's face, the pitiful mewls as sweat dripped from thier joined bodies, the love in those beautiful green orbs as they stared at him blankly. The love... in those... blank, lifeless eyes. Rex wondered why tears mixed with sweat as he shot his release into the dead boy's body, crying out his name. Brown eyes filled with emptiness, growing dull, as they looked upon reality no longer.
