Hell Hath No Fury
==============================
Shika's POV…
Five of my medication pills scattered onto the bench as I poured them out of their separate containers. I ran a glass of water and put them all in my mouth, quickly swallowing them with water, washing away the foul taste they left afterward. I looked across the kitchen to where Bakura was sitting at the table. He was looking at me peculiarly.
"What are you looking at?" I asked.
"You." He responded.
I cocked an eyebrow. "Okay…" I replied, even though I knew that that was not what he truly meant.
"Come here, Shika." Bakura said.
I went over to him. "What is it?"
He pulled me into his lap. "There is something you need to know about Malik's yami and myself." He replied.
"Oh… well okay then…"
"In ancient times, Marik and I were… well, together. The day we died… we thought it was the end. It all seems such a miracle that we were granted an afterlife, let alone be able to see each other again after five millennia."
I narrowed my gaze. "What are you trying to say?"
Bakura sighed. "Well, I guess I'm asking for your permission…"
"For what?"
"To see Marik… for a while. I will still be with you and Ryou too, but…"
"I see, so… you're asking me permission to cheat on me? Hmm… that's a new one." I replied.
"Lotus… you know that's not what I mean." Bakura said.
"So you're saying that Shika and I are not enough for you?" Ryou appeared suddenly from downstairs.
"Hikari… please just hear me out."
I got up from Bakura's lap. "It's alright, Ryou. I understand what Bakura's trying to say. After all, it won't be for a long while."
Ryou crossed his arms. "Just don't abandon us, yami. You are part of me, and you are a big part in Shika too."
Bakura got up from the table. "Ryou, please, I love you… both of you. It makes me feel so awful to do this to the two of you, but you must realize that the feelings I had for Marik have not yet turned neutral."
"It's alright Bakura… I understand." I said.
An eerie silence hung about between the three of us, but was quickly broken by a knock at the door. I went to open it with Ryou close behind. In front of me stood two police officers clad in blue uniforms. They both towered above me, probably about the same height as Kaiba.
"Is Mrs. Haadimaal present, miss?" One of them asked.
"No, she's at work…" I replied, a little stuck for words.
The other officer spoke up. "So you must be Shika Haadimaal? Is that right?"
I looked up at him. "Yeah, that's me."
"My name is Officer Clemens. Shika, your father Sevilin Haadimaal is going on trial for first degree murder, physical abuse, theft and drug smuggling into Japan." Clemens said, looking down at me.
I gasped. "Murder? What on earth happened?!"
The other officer spoke up. "I am Officer Worrill, now if you don't mind; may we come in and discuss the matter further inside?"
I nodded and opened the door for them. They both took a seat up at the table where Bakura was sitting. They looked at Ryou, then at Bakura and back again a few times before exchanging confused glances with each other. I sat down next to Bakura.
"Miss. Haadimaal, your father came to Japan a little over a week ago, am I correct?" Clemens asked.
I nodded. "Yes that's right."
"And you are aware that your father smuggled seven pounds of cocaine into Japan with him, on that same trip over, right?"
I nodded; Ryou slipped a hand into mine.
Worrill began to jot down some notes. "Where were you on the night of May the 12th? Precisely two days ago."
"Uh, in Domino Hospital's intensive care ward."
"And what were you in there for?" Clemens asked.
"I had a heart attack two days prior." I said. Ryou gripped my hand tighter. Worrill continued to keep scribbling down his notes.
"Okay… are you aware that on the day that he arrived in Japan, he was taken away by the police from these premises?" Clemens asked.
"Yes. My boyfriend made him leave while my brother Rai called the police." I replied.
Clemens nodded. "On the day that Sevilin was to be deported back to Turkey, he did not go to the airport, as instructed. Instead, he went to a nearby motel and rented a room for three nights. On the night of May the 12th, a Japanese prostitute was found in his hotel room, battered to death. Everything else was gone - he had fled."
"Oh my God… my father is a murderer…" I whispered to myself.
Worrill stopped writing. "Sevilin Haadimaal is going on trial tomorrow at the Domino High Court at ten o'clock in the morning. We ask you and Afet Yeliz Haadimaal to come to the trial as witnesses and information providers to the High Court. You will also be classed as suspects, like many others."
I nodded slowly and swallowed. "Alright… I will tell her. Thanks… I guess."
Clemens and Worrill rose up and shuffled their paperwork, packing it neatly away into their file folders. They were about to leave, when one last question came into my head.
"Do you know… who the victim was, that my father killed?" I asked.
Clemens turned around as Worrill continued walking down to the police car. "She was a twenty-four year old hooker named Mai Kujaku."
=O=O=O=O=O=O=O=O=O=O=O=O=O=O= (Neeahahaha I am SO cruel >:-D)
I couldn't believe it. My father killed a girl who I had once gotten to know. A girl with such class, so much style and grace - not to mention beauty. I wondered who else had heard the news. I could hardly imagine what Anzu's reaction would be. How could I tell her? That my own FATHER assassinated her ex-girlfriend? What would all my friends think of me now? Now that my father is a cold-blooded killer? My Mom had fainted as soon as I had told her. I was surprised that I hadn't fainted either. Or had another heart attack. Ryou told me that it wasn't funny when I said that to him.
Word spread quickly. I had a lot of visits from students at school asking me if it was all true. Jou had been one of them - in tears, eyes red, choking on his own sobs. Even though he was with Kaiba again, it must have been hard on him to hear that the girl he once liked so much was murdered - by my flesh and blood. I don't think he could ever look at me the same again.
Dr. Roes (now asked to be called by his first name - Paul) decided stayed over tonight with my mother to keep her calm. Tomorrow he would drive us to the High Court and drop us off. I was beginning to like Dr. Roes or "Paul" as he asked to be called. He was a lot better role model than my father had been, plus he made my mother happy. He made her laugh. Sevilin never made my mother laugh. I felt safe with him around, too. If anything went wrong with me or my heart then he would know exactly what to do.
"Shika…" Ryou whispered as we were in my bed that night.
"What?"
"…I was just thinking… what happens when I have to go back to England?"
I rolled over, my back facing Ryou. "I don't want to think about that right now, Ryou."
"I… I'm sorry. I love you Shika."
"I love you too."
In my head I felt it was strange not to hear Bakura speak up from inside his chamber. I think Ryou was thinking the same thing. Bakura was usually so talkative, but he had been silent ever since Clemens and Worrill had left this morning.

My father was brought in by two security guards in shackles and a pair of orange overalls - Domino's prison uniform. My mother, Ryou and I sat down the back row of the court room. Everyone was in quiet chatter amongst themselves before the judge entered the room.
"Honey, you do realize that what people might say about your father could be quite disturbing?" My mother whispered to me. I just nodded.
"All rise for the judge of this case." The court clerk announced. We all stood up as the judge walked up and took her seat. She was dressed in a black cloak, and had sandy blonde hair and bright blue eyes. Pink lipstick stained her lips and a tanned complexion covered her face. She looked about her late thirties.
"Court is in session, High Court Judge Genevieve Steinwick proceeding. The crown versus defendant Sevilin Haadimaal on charges of first degree murder, physical abuse, theft, and the smuggling of illegal substances into the Domino City International Airport of Japan."
Judge Steinwick made herself comfortable and banged her hammer down twice. "The court is in session." She declared. Everyone sat down. "Mr. Sevilin Haadimaal, how do you plead?"
My father stood up, with all eyes on him. "Not guilty, ma'am."
You filthy lying bastard. I thought.
The judge's eyes set down the back to me, and then to my mother. "Is Afet Haadimaal present in this court?"
My mother stood up. "Yes." She called.
"I call you, Mrs. Haadimaal, to the witness stand, please."
"Mom…" I bleated.
"It's alright, baby," she whispered, taking my hand. "There only going to ask me a few questions." My mother's high-heel shoes clapped the ground as she walked up and took her seat next to the judge in the witness stand.
The court clerk went to face her. "Place your right hand on the Bible. Do you swear by our mighty God, that what you say is the truth and nothing but the truth?"
"I do and help me God." My mother replied.
The legal representative, on my father's defense, stood up. "Afet Haadimaal, where were you on the night of May the twelfth at eleven PM or later?"
"I was in my home asleep in bed, sir."
"Alright," the lawyer paced out in front of her. "I believe your daughter, Shika Haadimaal, was in hospital that night, correct?"
"Yes sir."
"Did you or Mr. Haadimaal have anything to do with your daughter's attack on May the 9th?"
A man in a grey suit, objecting to my father's side, stood up. "Objection your honour!"
"Please state your reason." Judge Steinwick demanded.
"Miss Shika Haadimaal's heart attack is irrelevant to this case, your honour."
"Objection overruled." Steinwick banged her hammer. "That will be all, Mrs. Haadimaal."
My mother nodded and got up from the witness stand, quickly making her way down the aisle and back to her seat next to me. The judge then called my father to the witness stand. Sevilin got up and swore on the Bible that he would tell the truth and nothing but the truth, and help him God.
"Mr. Haadimaal, I would like you to explain what happened on the night of May the twelfth in your own words." Judge Steinwick said.
My father cleared his throat. "Alright, well it was late, and I was driving along highway 176 to find a place to stay."
"What time was this at?" The solicitor on the offending side asked.
"Approximately a quarter to eleven at night, sir."
"And the vehicle which you were driving was stolen, correct?"
"Yes sir."
"And why did you not board your flight back to Ankara as you were supposed to?"
He shrugged. "The police took me to the airport and made me board, but I escaped out the fire exit off the plane before take-off." Practically every police officer and security guard in the room narrowed their eyes at him.
"So tell us what happened once you left the airport."
"I found an abandoned car, it was a little rough but it started for me anyway."
"And this was the, stolen car?"
"Yes, sir."
"Alright, so how far did you drive this stolen car before you came across Miss. Kujaku on highway 176?"
"Approximately five or six miles." My father answered.
"And what happened after that?"
"I pulled over and we started talking. She said she needed a place to stay for the night, and I mentioned I was going to a motel nearby. She offered me free sex if she could stay with me for one night until she found another place, so I took her with me."
I snarled at him. How disgusting. The thought of my father with such a beautiful young girl like Mai made me shudder.
"Tell us what happened once you got to the motel." One of the solicitors asked.
"I checked in and rented a room for a couple of nights. After Mai and I had sex, she started asking for money."
"And what was her reason for this, Mr. Haadimaal?"
"I don't know. I told her that we made a deal that I would pay for her to stay with me one night if she gave me what I wanted for nothing. Once we had finished, she started asking for cash."
"And what happened next?"
My father started to rant on about what he did to Mai and I could tell he was lying. Anyone could. He was usually a good liar, but when it came down to it, he was a weakling. A few objections were made by the solicitor, claiming that they had evidence that my father was indeed the one who murdered her. Lunchtime came around quickly, and Judge Steinwick called for a lunch break.
I rose up with Ryou and walked across the court room, past my father who was being held by two security officers at either side. He looked at me with his sinister green eyes and wrinkled tan skin. His black hair was greased back into a ponytail like usual. But I could never look at him the way I used to.
"Shika…" He whispered as I passed him.
I halted and looked him in the eye. "How could you?" I whispered, swallowing the lump in my throat.
"Shika… baby please…"
"You murdered her. You killed Mai Kujaku - she was my friend, Dad. God shall have no mercy on you. Not this time."
Without another word, I rushed out the doors to the court room and joined my mother. Paul had come along to comfort her at the lunchtime break, and was standing with her outside on the porch. She lit up a cigarette to stop herself shaking.
"So what do you think the verdict will be?" Ryou asked gently.
"Guilty. They've got evidence it was him. He's really done it this time."
"True… I hope it's for the best."
"It will be. Once he's locked up for the rest of his life he can't hurt anyone anymore."
