Tired as he was, Maximillion Pegasus couldn't get to sleep. He lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling. He knew the reason why he couldn't drift off. Every time his eyes started to shut, he saw Seto. His Seto being stripped of his innocence and denied his humanity. He saw any hope for a normal life being slowly destroyed under the hands of that man.
No. That wasn't a man. No real man would have done things like that to his angel. That monster had damaged Seto almost beyond repair. Pegasus wondered if there was anything left in Seto worth saving. His Seto might not be able to be healed. Not that he wasn't going to try. Pegasus loved the boy. And after witnessing the Hell that was Seto's life, the businessman couldn't help but love the teen even more.
Slowly, he drifted off to strangely pleasant dreams. Dreams of him and his angel. Visions of a future where Seto's ice had melted. In the dream there were no walls, no secrets. They loved each other. And they shared that love in the most intimate way possible.
Pegasus didn't want the dream to end. He fought to remain asleep, struggling against the loud sounds of an alarm. He wanted to watch this dream to its satisfying conclusion. But the noise would have none of that.
He sat up in bed. There was no clock in his room, so that couldn't be it. And really, the alarm was too loud, too annoying, to be that of a clock. It meant only one thing. Seto was awake. He had attacked the door.
Not even bothering to change out of his pajamas, the man sprinted to the room that held his love. He had forgotten to warn the boy last night. Warn him not to try and escape. The only way out was a single door. He had the only key, and only he knew the proper code. Without both, anyone who touched the door was in for a nasty shock.
True enough, when he opened the door, Seto was sitting on the floor. His long coat was pooled under him, smoking. His perfect chestnut hair was frazzled. It wasn't ruined, but it looked as if the boy had put a finger into a light fixture. Yet, even half fried, Seto still looked absolutely perfect in Pegasus's eyes.
The boy looked up from the floor. He still had his arms wrapped around his knees. There was something foreign in Seto's eyes. They seemed to flash for a moment. Pegasus wished he knew what was going on behind that icy gaze, but he had learned his lesson. He wasn't going to be making any more unscheduled trips into Seto's head.
He knew by the look that the teen was well aware of his presence. “What? No good morning? I thought you'd be more polite than this, Kaiba-boy.” He baited, playfully. Seto didn't take the bait. His angel just sat and stared.
“Nothing? Not one hello for me?” Pegasus stepped toward the teen. Still nothing. He knelt beside the boy and softly touched his arm. “I'd even settle for an I'm going to kill you.”
Seto just stared forward. He didn't even bother to pull his arm away. He refused to speak. He wouldn't give Pegasus the satisfaction. As long was he was a prisoner here, Seto was going to be a difficult as possible. Not to mention, he was still in shock. He had dreamed about things he preferred remain deeply buried. Then Pegasus had woke him, just to plunge him back into those awful nightmares of the past.
Pegasus waved a hand in front of Seto's face. Nothing. Not even a flinch. It was as if Seto had gone completely catatonic on him. He shook his head. “I suppose you won't try and attack the door again. You might be reckless Kaiba-boy, but I don't think you're suicidal.” The man stood and walked over to the bed, grabbing a blanket.
“If you insist on sitting on the floor, then that's your problem.” He draped the blanket around the boy in one smooth motion. “But I won't let you catch your death.”
Again that flicker of emotion. This confused Seto. He really didn't know what to make of this. Why was Pegasus being so nice to him? He was a prisoner here. If positions had been switched, the teen knew he wouldn't have been so kind to the businessman. He knew there had to be a reason. Maximillion Pegasus wanted something from him. Seto wasn't going to give the man anything. Still, he pulled the blanket draped around him tighter.
Pegasus sat on his heels. He smiled at the boy gently. “So you can move.” He poked Seto playfully on the forehead, seeing if he could get a reaction. He did. The boy turned his face away. The white haired man stood again. He didn't want to push the boy. He was grateful that Seto hadn't tried to beat him down and make a run for it yet. He wasn't about to test how far he could go before the teen pushed him away. Not yet at least. He wanted to get on speaking terms first.
“I'll be black soon with something to eat. Don't go anywhere, Kaiba-boy.” He started towards the door. A cold voice stopped him.
“Don't bother.” Seto's detached gaze followed him.
“What was that, Kaiba-boy? I didn't quite hear that.”
“I said don't bother. I'm not hungry.”
Pegasus leaned against the doorframe. He loved Seto's voice. He made a mental note to get the boy to talk more often. “You sure about that, Kaiba-boy? I assure you, it's very good.”
Seto glared. “I could care less. I really don't care it is a five star meal. I don't want it.”
“Then tell me. What do you want? What do you want more than anything else, Kaiba-boy?” Pegasus really wanted to know. He wanted to make whatever his angel wished for a reality. After all he'd been through, Seto deserved for all his dreams to come true.
The glair hardened, if that was at all possible. “For you to die and go to Hell.“
Pegasus laughed, clapping his hands together. “Delightful! Has anyone ever told you, you're cute when you're pissed off, Kaiba-boy?”
Seto stood, the blanket falling to the floor. “No. But, I`m sure I`m damned adorable right now, Pegasus!” He started toward the taller man with a growl. Pegasus darted through the door and slammed it just in time. He locked it, but didn't set the electric shock. After all, his intention wasn't to hurt Seto; it was to heal him. Heal him and love him.
He touched the door, feeling the cold metal under his fingertips. “And you're even cuter when you aren't.”
