There was a saying. If you loved someone, you set them free. Pegasus loved his angel very much. Despite all he told himself, he knew that Seto wasn't free. Yes, he was free to wonder the castle. The boy was free to do whatever he chose. But he was still a prisoner. Pegasus wanted to set Seto free completely. He was just afraid to let the young man go.

He loved Seto so much it hurt. Now, after consummating that love, his love had grown even stronger. Yesterday had meant the world to Pegasus. He had been able to fulfill his wildest fantasy. Now, it was only fair to return the favor. He knew his angel well enough by now to know what Seto would want. More than anything in the world, Seto cared for his little brother.

He had weaseled the information from the boy while they lay in bed that night. The questioning started simply. He had asked Seto to tell him about his past. The boy wasn't very willing at first. But bit by bit, peace by peace, he revealed what his life had been like. He didn't want to speak about what Gozaburo had done to him, and Pegasus didn't blame him. Because the truth was, Pegasus already knew everything about that. “I don't want any secrets between us, Seto.” He had said. “I already know what that bastard did to you.”

The boy looked like he was about to bolt, but Pegasus had held him still. “You--you know. How much?” He wondered how Pegasus knew. And if he knew that the new arrangement had not been a one time deal. And that he'd become his adopted father's personal sex toy.

“I know all of it, and I don't love you any less for it. But what I don't get is why? Why did you put up with it for so long? Why did you let him do that to you? Why didn't you run away, or get help, or...”

Seto put a slender finger to his lips to shut him up. “I stayed because I had to. I did it for Mokuba. So he could have a family, no matter how dysfunctional. I couldn't do anything because they'd send us back to the orphanage. Then they'd separate us.”

“I see. You really must love him a lot.”

“I do. He's all I have. I'd give anything to keep my brother safe and happy.”

“Seto, he's not all you have. Not anymore. You have me.”

“I know, Maximillion. I know. And I'm grateful. But he's my little brother.” The conversation is what brought him to his conclusion. Pegasus was going to give Seto his brother. Then he was going to watch the boy walk away from him.

He found his love programming his VCR. The teen didn't even look up. “I'm almost finished here, Maximillion.”

“Seto. I think there's someone here to see you.” He noticed how tried he sounded. He knew why. The thought of his angel leaving him forever left him emotionally drained.

Seto stood, trademark coat flowing around his legs. “You sound tired. Are you all right?” The teen sounded genuinely worried.

Instead of speaking, the businessman stepped aside. A young boy shoved past him to leap at Seto. The teen caught the child in mind jump. “Mo--Mokuba?” He asked.

“Seto! You're all right! Did that man hurt you?” Mokuba demanded, fussing over his big brother.

“No.” Seto looked at Pegasus with affection. “He hasn't hurt me once.” He clutched the boy tighter and mouthed, “Thank you.” over his brother's head.

“Why didn't you come back for me, brother? I waited and waited. You said you'd always be there for me!”

Seto tried to say something but Pegasus beat him to the punch. “He was under house arrest. Once he came back too, all he's done is try to get to you. It's very annoying.”

“I knew it!” The younger Kaiba latched onto his brother, possessively. “Now that we're together again, you're going to be sorry, Pegasus.”

“Should I be worried? I find that your brother is more far trouble than he's worth. If you would both kindly leave, I'd appreciate it.”

Seto hadn't moved the entire time. His voice had become hard and cold. “Mokuba, go on home.”

“Seto.” Pegasus hissed. “What are you doing? You're free. Just get out of here already. Get out now. “ Then stronger. “Seto, I want you to leave.”

Seto blinked. He hadn't expected this. His walls slammed back into place. “Go on, Mokuba. I've got some unfinished business here. First I got to take care of Pegasus. Then I'm going to go after the morons who wanted me dead.”

Pegasus felt himself shiver. Seto was colder than he had even been. His angel was back to wearing his mask. His Seto was that walled shadow once more. “Then I'm going to be busy fixing up whatever they've done to my company while I've been away.”

“I understand, Seto. Just don't stay away too long, okay.”

“I won't” He promised. He watched his little brother run away from the castle, disappearing in the foliage. Then he turned back around. His face was impassive, but his hands were shaking.

Pegasus slowly backed into his palace. He couldn't face Seto when the teen was like this. “Unfinished business?” The boy was going to kill him. He just knew it. “It that why you're staying?” He asked, surprised by the courage in his voice.

The teen's voice was ice cold and sharp as a razor's edge. He walked towards Pegasus. “You want my reasons. How dare you! And after what happened between us.” He could feel tears threatening, but he wasn't going to cry. He wouldn't give Pegasus the satisfaction. “I thought what we shared was special. But I was right from the beginning. You just wanted to use me. You took what you wanted. I hope you're happy.”

“Seto.” Pegasus tried to interrupt the teen tirade. “It's not like that at all.”

“You expect for me to believe you? You've taken what you wanted from me. Now you're trying to throw me away. You're just like him, Pegasus!”

“Seto Kaiba!” He rapped out. “If you only do one thing I ask you to do, do it now. Listen to me! You have to believe me. It`s not what you think!” The teen froze in his spot.

“Why should I?” The teen demanded hotly.

He tried to put all the love he felt into his single eyed gaze. He reached out to try and hold the boy. “Because I know you're worth saving. I`ve seen it. It`s not too late to start over.” The angry teen pushed him away roughly.

“Yes it is. It's far too late for us. Maybe once. Once we might have had something, but it's too late for you. And it's far too late for me.” Now he really felt like crying. Seto was damaged goods, and he knew it. Yet, Pegasus wanted to try and save him. “I can't be healed. There's nothing in me worth saving.” He let a tear fall.

“Seto,” The businessman begged. He felt his own tears coming. He let them slide down his cheeks. “Please stop this.”

His angel turned, staring at the door. “I don't want you regretting anything, because I know I won't. But in the end, you were just came into my life too late. Too late to ever save me. So I guess this is goodbye, Maximillion.”

Pegasus sprinted, getting a hold of the boy from behind. Gently, he turned the teen around. Slowly, he reached up to wipe a tear from off Seto's cheek. “I guess it's too late to say I love you. But I do Seto. I love you so much it hurts. I have from the moment I saw you so many years ago. Before I even knew who you were.”

Seto managed a watery smile. “It's never too late to say that.” He brushed the long white hair away to lock both eyes. “Because, I think I might too.” Then he paused, thinking about something. “No. That's not right. I know I love you, Maximillion.”

Pegasus titled the young man's head slightly. “You think too much.” Then they kissed, slowly. It developed into a hot hungry kiss. Full of passion and love. Pegasus scooped the teen into his arms and started away.

“Not on the desk this time.” He muttered huskily.

“If you insist, my angel.”
