Here is Gone - Chapter 2

Seto didn't get any sleep he had ended up having to go down to the police station to tell them what he had seen exactly. He hadn't been thrilled about having to do it, but he didn't have much of a choice if he wanted to help Jou. He'd been at the hospital with Jou from when they arrived at 1 a.m. until he left Jou at almost 9 a.m. Soon after he arrived home his phone rang and he headed down to the police station.

He ended up staying there for almost three hours and it was now going on 1 p.m. Seto was beyond tired and laid down to take a quick nap before heading to the hospital again. Soon and all to soon Seto's alarm clock went off and Seto was tempted to throw it across the room but something stopped him. He wasn't sure what made him spare the alarm clock but he did. With a sigh he crawled off his bed and made his way to him bathroom for a quick shower before he headed to the hospital.

At the hospital Jou's eyes were opening and the boy looked around the room in confusion. A nurse came in and was very pleased to see that he was awake. He looked at her confused for a moment before he found his voice."What da hell am I doin' here?" he asked her. She seemed surprised at his words.

"You mean you don't remember when you were brought in last night?" she asked looking at him worried.

"Nah, if I did, I don' tink I'd be askin' ya what I was doin' here." Jou snapped at her. He then paused for a minute. "I do remember somethin' dough. A pair a da softest blue eyes I ever seen." Jou said with a slightly dreamy expression on his face.

The nurse shook her head and went out of the room to find one of the doctors. One finally went in and asked Jou a few questions and once satisfied with the answers left the room and told the nurse to come and find him when Seto arrived to pick him up. The nurse agreed and went to get Jou something to eat.

While 'enjoying' his breakfast Jou was more than surprised when Seto walked into his hospital room. The two exchanged looks before the nurse pulled Seto out of the room. Once outside the room Seto looked down and glared at the tiny woman and then raised an eyebrow in question."The doctor wanted to speak with you before you took Mr. Jounouchi home with you." the nurse said seeming unfazed by Seto's glare.

Seto nodded and waited for the nurse to go and get the doctor who arrived shortly after the nurse had left. The doctor regarded Seto with a nod and then looked at Jou's chart again quickly. He then turned to Seto with a thoughtful expression."Well Mr. Kaiba it seems that Mr. Jounouchi is suffering from repressed memories." Seto looked at the doctor for a moment and waited for the man to explain. "It seems that he doesn't remember anything from last night. He doesn't even remember being rushed in here." the doctor said.

"But why? I mean it's obvious he had been raped before so why would this happen now?" Seto asked confused.

"That's what we're unsure of. You see something like repressed memories normally happen after the first time something traumatizing happens to a victim. Maybe something scared Katsuya into blocking out the memories of last night. All we can do now is keep an eye on him and hope he remembers what happened or else the police may not have the fighting testimony they need." the doctor said with a sigh.

Seto nodded and then turned and walked back into Jou's room followed by the doctor. Jou stared at them both as they wandered into the room and he gave Seto a suspicious look. After a quick smile from the doctor though Jou figured it was all right for Seto to be there."Well Mr. Jounouchi we'll be releasing you into the care for Mr. Kaiba here since your mother is unable to support another child at the moment." the doctor said. Jou's eyes went wide for a moment and then narrowed into a glare.

"Dare ain't no fuckin' way I'mma go wit moneybags dare!" Jou exclaimed still glaring and shocking both Seto and the doctor.

"I'd watch what you say Mr. Jounouchi, Mr. Kaiba is the one that saved your life." the doctor said calmly.

"Wha?! I was saved by him?! I don' believe dat!" Jou said his eyes going wide again.

"Well puppy as long as the right people know, I really don't care what you think about it." Seto said flatly.

Truth be told Seto did care what Jou thought about it and he wished more than anything that the blonde would remember that it was him he was saved by. At the moment though that seemed to be wishful thinking. He wasn't sure if Jou would ever remember or if Jou even wanted to remember. Something deep inside told Seto it would probably be best if Jou didn't remember what happened."Ya can't make me go wit him." Jou exclaimed to the doctor. The doctor opened his mouth to respond but Seto beat him to it.

"Oh but they can puppy, since your still a minor." Seto said giving Jou a look that simply said 'There's no way around this.'

Jou finally sighed and looked down at the blanket covering him. Seto smirked, took out his cell phone, pressed a button to inform the limo to pull up, and watched out the window to make sure the driver did so. The doctor then signed to release papers and Seto did as well."Come on pup, it's time to go." Seto said motioning to the door. Jou simply nodded, then followed Seto out of the room and then out of the hospital.

And I want to get free, talk to me I can feel you fallin'

The ride home was mostly silent until Jou finally broke it and he broke it in a most unusual way. He looked at Seto sadly."Talk to me please, it's to quiet." he said suddenly. Seto looked at him confused than with a sigh he started talking.

"Did they tell you what they found at the hospital?" Seto asked. Jou nodded.

"I remember the other rapes, but not the one that apparently happened last night. I also don't remember being saved by anyone. I just remember walking into my apartment and seeing my dad, and then waking up in the hospital." Jou said

Seto looked at Jou for a moment and something like sadness crossed the CEO's face. Jou saw it but only briefly.

"I'm trying to remember what happened last night, I really am, but nothing is coming back to me about it." Jou said weakly.

"Maybe your not suppose to remember puppy." Seto said looking from Jou to the window. "I wonder?" Seto suddenly asked.

"Wonder what?" Jou asked looking confused by the sudden thoughtful look that crossed Seto's face.

"Why didn't you tell anyone what was happening when it first happened?" Seto asked turning his attention from the window back to Jou.

":How da fuck was I suppose to explain dat to anyone? I didn' know what to do, I was fuckin' scared shit-less." Jou exclaimed loudly.

Seto looked at him surprised but said nothing else. Seto could practically feel the sadness that was threatening to swallow Jou. Seto then pulled out his pack of Marlboro's and offered one to Jou who gladly excepted. The cigarette seemed to bring some sort of small comfort to the blonde as Seto watched him inhale deeply. So the two spent the rest of the car ride smoking and in silence.

When they arrived at the Kaiba home Jou was on his third cigarette and Seto was making sure he didn't smell like one otherwise Mokuba would give him hell. The two walked in while Jou still taking heavy drags off the nicotine stick. Mokuba ran to the door to greet them and glared at the offending tool of addiction."Those will kill you." Mokuba said.

"Hey I'm gonna die from somethin' so it might as well be somethin' of my choosin'." Jou said. Mokuba surprised Seto by simply shrugging his shoulders and letting the matter drop.

Seto thought it unusual for his brother to just let something drop like that, but said nothing instead he turned to Jou and offered to show the blonde to his new room. Jou excepted the offer feeling tired again. Seto led him up the stairs and to a set of doors to the right of his own bedroom doors. Jou walked into the room and suddenly felt very very small. The room had to be than his whole apartment. He looked around the room sighed. The room had a large four poster bed with dark blue blankets, the curtains in the window matched in color. The carpet was a shade lighter than the blankets and the walls were a simple cream color. All in all the room was perfect. *Just like every thin' else in dis house. * Jou thought to himself. He was then suddenly aware of Seto clearing his throat. Jou turned slowly and looked at him."I'll let you rest now, I'm right next door if you need me for anything." Seto said before walking out and closing the doors behind him.

Jou sighed and made his way over to the bed and laid down on it gently; Sleep quickly claimed him and much to his disappointment nothing from the night before came back to him, not even a nightmare was caused by it.

When Jou woke he was greeted by a knock on the door. He didn't up to answer it instead he suddenly heard Mokuba talking from the other side."Big brother sent me to tell you he'll be up with your dinner soon." Mokuba said popping his head in the door.

"Er... tanks Mokuba." Jou said trying to figure out how the boy was always so cheerful. Mokuba nodded and disappeared as quickly as he had come.

Jou shifted in the bed and gave a hiss of pain as he did some, pain suddenly welling in his chest from his ribs. He tried to move again but he just ended up causing more pain. Suddenly he heard another voice.

"You know puppy pain normally means your doing something wrong." Seto said walking into the room carrying a tray.

Jou glared at Seto who simply smirked at him. Seto sat the tray on the table next to the bed and carefully helped Jou sit up, he then moved the tray so that Jou would be able to eat the meal he had brought. Jou was about to dig in when Seto stopped him."Hold it pup, you've got to take these first." Seto said holding out Jou's pills from the hospital.

I wanted to be, all you need Somehow here is gone

Jou suddenly stopped eating and looked at Seto with a thoughtful expression on his face. Seto returned the expression and waited for Jou to say something.

"Why are ya doin' all dis for me Kaiba?" he asked suddenly catching Seto by surprise slightly.

Jou was staring into Seto's eyes as he waited for an answer and Seto was about to let his feelings slip when his eyes quickly became like hard steel again and he answered with a biting remark.

"I hate animal abuse." he said flatly before standing and walking out of the room. Jou sighed and finished his food slowly before falling back to sleep and single tear falling down his cheek.

Seto returned to his own room and banged his head against his wall for sometime trying to figure out why he could just simply tell Jou how he felt about him. In all honesty Jou had been through hell and back and needed all the love and support he could get but something in Seto simply wouldn't give in. He gave another frustrated sigh, flung himself onto the bed, and feel into a fitful sleep. The next week went about the same but the following Monday Seto woke with a headache which he wasn't surprised about, but when he walked over to Jou's room and saw the blonde in his school uniform he was.

Jou met Seto's gaze while looking in the mirror and Seto shook his head. Jou frowned and turned to actually face Seto who was moving closer to him. Seto looked at Jou with a smirk and again shook his head."Ever the brave puppy." Seto said softly looking Jou in the eye.

Once again Jou was meeting his gaze head on and once again Seto felt like Jou was looking for something that only his eyes could tell the other. He suddenly head Jou sigh. Obviously the shorter teen again hadn't found what he was looking for. Seto continued to stare at Jou for a moment before he spoke again."And where did you think you were going to go in your condition pup?" he asked. Jou frowned at him.

"Wasn' it obvious I was gonna go ta school?" Jou asked frowning again.

"I don't think so puppy, at least not yet, and not until those ribs are completely healed." Seto said or rather proclaimed.

Jou sighed and after Seto glared at him for a few minutes he nodded his head in agreement. With a satisfied smirk Seto helped Jou out of his uniform and into a clean pair of pajamas and back into bed. Jou sighed. He felt completely helpless.

"Would a get somethin' for me on ya way home?" Jou asked suddenly. Seto nodded and looked at Jou. "Can ya get me a pack a Marlboro Milds, ya Reds are starting to hurt my throat." Jou said.

Seto nodded and before he left the room he made sure Jou was comfortable, drew the curtains closed, and headed out of the room. Jou watched him go and once the room was dark he sighed loudly into the darkness. *Come on Jou ya dumb-ass think, there has ta be somethin' ya remember from that night.* Jou thought trying to rack his brain. If only something would 'trigger' the memory like the doctor said. But Jou doubted anything in his mind would be triggered if he never left his damn room.

Having enough of trying to sleep Jou eased himself up and out of bed and made his way out of the bedroom. He walked down the hall slowly past Seto and Mokuba's bedrooms, past Seto's office to a room that Seto hadn't showed him when he's arrived from the hospital. Jou walked in and looked around slowly. The room had to be twice the size of the bedroom he was staying in and there were pictures scattered all over the floor. As he looked around more he also noticed that there was writing on the walls. He made his way over to one of the walls slowly and started to read some of the writing. Once he was closer to the wall Jou saw none other than a picture of himself and below it something was written'You hide inside yourself, I wondered what you're thinking'(1) Jou read to himself. He then looked closer at the picture and tried to figure out when it was taken.

In the picture he was sitting in what looked to be the park. It had to be because that's where his favorite tree was and that was the tree that was in the picture with him. He sighed again and moved to the next picture. This time it was a picture of Seto and he was simply glaring at the camera.'My silence is my self defense.'(2) was all that was written. Suddenly something about Seto made sense to Jou. He then decided that he'd been nosy enough for one day and headed out of the room and back down the hall. He was almost back to his room when he ran into none other than Seto.

"Where the hell were you puppy?" Seto snapped suddenly. Jou looked at him alarmed.

"I was just walkin' 'round tryin' to stretch my legs." Jou lied. Actually it wasn't a total lie, but it wasn't the total truth either.

Seto glared down at the shorter teen and looked as though he were trying to read Jou's thoughts. Finally Seto took a step back from Jou and sighed.

"You know I can tell when someone's lying to me pup." was all Seto said before handing Jou the cigarettes he had asked for and stalking down the hallway.

Jou suddenly not caring about the pain in his ribs and the rest of his body made a mad dash for his bedroom and had no intention of coming out the rest of the day or at least until Seto was gone. That time didn't come for a while. Seto stopped by the room finally at one point and muttered something about going to work. Jou simply nodded that he had heard and went back to trying to sleep. Though once Seto was gone Jou was out of bed and down to the kitchen. He suddenly felt like he could eat at least two horses. Mokuba came home from school sometime later and joined Jou for a snack."Mokuba, ya brother said somethin; intrestin' ta me earlier." Jou said between bites of sandwich.

"Oh really what did he say?" Mokuba asked in turn.

"He said he could tell when people were lyin' is dat true?" Jou asked looking at the spiky haird teen.

"Oh yeah, Seto's always been able to tell when someone was lying to him, it's just this weird sort of six sense thing he has I swear!" Mokuba said while finishing off his food.

Jou replied with a small 'Oh' and didn't say much of anything the rest of the day. Which surprised both the Kaiba brothers because Jou was normally feeling rather chatty at dinner but on this night he didn't say much of anything. He was preoccupied with other things on his mind. Like the room with all the pictures and the fact that Seto probably knew that he had lied to him earlier. Jou looked up suddenly and caught Seto's gaze. He stared for a minute again, not finding what he was looking for.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
