Hidden Desires: Chapter One
Why do the stars shine for us? Is it to give the world light at nighttime? Or is it something else? When people look up at the sky, the stars they see represent different things to them. Most often it could be wishing for something that you didn't have or want to have. Wishes that grant each person's inner desires. Whether its an item, happiness, well-being for others, or among other things. What if the one thing you desire is something you didn't realize you had deep inside yourself. Something that could be desire. Or maybe even love. What brings about this feeling?
What kind of feeling do I think comes out when I look at the stars?
"Something I can't describe. Yugi told me his definition of what stars represent to him."
-flashback-
"Stars represent to me the desire, longing you have for something that is unspoken. The one thing that will make you whole. Or maybe something to make you appreciate the joys of life. That's what I think anyway. What about you Yami?"
At this point amethyst eyes turned to the said spirit next to him.
Yami offered him a smile. "That's an interesting definition aibou. I never thought about the stars like that before. Your words help fill the absence of my true memories with ones of this modern time."
"Yami, don't you want to find your memories? Ever since Battle City, you've wanted to unlock those hidden memories. You could ask Ishizu. She is the authority on Ancient Egypt."
"True, she is aibou, but Marik showed me the way to recover my memories. They are waiting for me in Egypt for when I decide to go there. Besides I have something else that I can't explain. I have you, the others, and our friendship, but I can't help feeling I'm missing something."
Yugi at that point was surprised by Yami's statement. That he might be missing something. "You mean you desire something else Yami?"
Ruby eyes flashed. "Don't worry about aibou, I'll deal with it."
-end flashback-
Yami shook his head. He turned to his right to see the slumbering figure of Yugi. His spectral form flickered in the moonlight. He wished he could understand what the odd feeling was. It was hard to describe it to Yugi. He just didn't know if Yugi could help him to figure it out. Maybe asking the stars would help guide him to the answer. My other journey besides finding my memories is to give this feeling a name. If what Yugi said is true then I wish to find out the meaning of this feeling. Yami looked once more at the sky before vanishing into the puzzle.

"That is an interesting definition you have Yugi. It provided Yami with a means to pursue the feeling he doesn't understand. I know what it is, but you will have to find out for yourself what it is."
One person stood in a room arranged like a ritual. The center housed a circle of twelve stars. Currently, a mirror floated inside the center. It was circular in shape, encased in a white, crystal-like frame. Candles filled the room with their light; each arranged in various patterns. The person nodded and the mirror vanished. He knew it was time. Time to do what he needed to do. The black cloak he wore swished as he walked over to a table to retrieve something. Once it was tucked away, the figure vanished.

'Sand blew everywhere. The winds scattering the grains every which way. Nothing was in sight. Suddenly a light flashed and the wind died down to reveal an opening. The opening seemed to get larger as if someone were walking toward it. Steps could be seen, the interior dark, and silent. Light suddenly appeared; piercing the darkness and engulfing the area. Walls inscripted with ancient writings, writings from the distant past. A particular symbol flashed and the northern wall opened to reveal a passage. Suddenly the passage becomes a blur and when it stopped, a new area is entered. The center piece of the room attracted attention by glowing for just a second. The center piece turns out to be an altar. Laying on the altar seemed to be a piece of debris. Years of dust covered it, a single blow of air blew it all away. Instead of being an actual piece of debris, it turns out to be a tablet of some kind. It reads…'
Everything fades and Ishizu Ishtar woke up. Her sudden jolt out of the dream surprised her. It seemed so real and yet…It felt like a vision, but I lost the ability to see the future when I lost to Kaiba at Battle City. The Necklace is in Yugi's possession now, one of the keys to finding the Pharaoh's memory. What does this mean? Is this…?

Yami thought dreams were supposed to be…more lively. He had to be mistaken. The world around him was white and no one was in sight. What the heck is this?!
"Our meeting place." a voice suddenly spoke up.
Ruby eyes narrowed as he noticed someone in a black cloak walk up to him. Yami looked up and down, studying the person now next to him. The black cloak completely covered the body, only the gloves and boots were visible. The gloves and boots were navy and then Yami noticed the brooch on the cloak. The symbol didn't look familiar to him. A silver clasp with the picture of a phoenix engraved in it held the hood and cloak together.
"Who are you?!" Yami demanded.
The figure laughed, his smile hidden beneath the cloak. "I am not your enemy, just someone to guide you."
"Guide me?"
"That's correct. You are seeking something Yami, I know you are. What you are seeking is something I cannot tell you where to find it, you must discover that on your own. However…"
Yami narrowed his eyes even farther after hearing his name. He then was puzzled by what the figure meant. He knows my name and yet he's talking in riddles. What does he want to guide me on? Right now I just want to know who this person is.
"However what? I don't need any guidance." Yami stated firmly.
Of course you do Yami. You are about to discover that you can have a body of your own. "Yami, one thing that will aid in finding out what your new feeling is, will be the ability to search for it yourself."
The words he heard perfectly, but still couldn't interpret whether the cloaked figure was telling the truth. My own body…?
"That is impossible. There is no way in this modern time can I obtain a body of my own. It would have to be done by magic. For now I am content in sharing this body with Yugi."
He smiled; had to give the spirit credit. Yami seemed stubborn and obviously not wanting one at the moment. Well, he had a reason to get him to want one. "I'm not kidding Yami, there is a way. First, you need the tablet depicting the ritual. Next, you need someone to perform it. Lastly, the location to perform the ritual is something you will have to discover on your own. I'm not going to tell you who or where to obtain these two keys, I'm sure you have an idea of where to start."
"An ancient ritual? True, you must have everything you need in order to perform one as you say, but I don't know if Yugi would allow me to become independent from him."
"Of course I'd expect you to say that. Tomorrow you can talk this over with Yugi. That way it would be easier on the both of you. Is there anything else you need to ask me before I leave?"
Yami became silent, thinking. He knew he wouldn't get any more info about the ritual and the two keys, so he thought of something similar to his very first question. "There is something I wish to ask."
"Proceed with it."
"Who exactly are you? Are you a supreme being or something? It would take magic to reach me through dreams."
A smirk appeared on his face even though Yami couldn't see it. Gets right to the point. "It's not time to reveal myself yet, certain things have to happen first. Until that time comes, you won't see my true identity. I have other things to do so have a good night Yami. I'll see you again."
Yami watched with interest as his guest vanished from sight. With the figure's departure left Yami to his own thoughts. Just when everything's settled down a new challenge appears. Looks like I'll have to solve this challenge to find out the truth.
