~~~The kiss lasted for several minutes, their tongues caught in an intimate dance hidden in the confines of the boys' mouths. Only when their lungs pained for oxygen did they break away from each other, but only for a moment as Kaiba grabbed the back of Joey's head and forced him to him, and their tongues met again. Joey let out a soft moan, arousing Kaiba farther, and he pushed him backwards until Joey's back was pressed against the rough wood of a tree. Their bodies touched and pressed against each other, attempting to get closer but their physical matter would not allow them to. Instead their minds were together, pressed into one, one soul, one being. It was their love for each other that connected them, no more, no less. And it was their love for each other that brought them physically together, closer and closer, their erections rubbing against each other through the fabric of their clothes.
"Kai--Kaiba…" Joey moaned through the depths of Kaiba's throat. "Seto…" He broke the kiss and nipped the soft flesh of the other's neck, then began licking, sucking at him. Kaiba pressed his hand to the back of Joey's head, inviting him to continue. He closed his eyes, feeling himself being pushed downwards as Joey pressed himself against him, lowering them both down to their knees. Kaiba wrapped his arms around Joey's back, sneaking underneath the fabric to touch his warm skin. He leaned his head back, allowing Joey more access to his neck. The brunette began slowly lifting the blonde's shirt up and over his head, forcing Joey to take a slight break in his sucking, but he was instantly back at his lover's throat once his shirt was off and tossed to the side. Joey's hands snuck into Kaiba's coat, sliding it off of his shoulders until it fell in a pile on the ground. Kaiba moved his head around to place his lips on Joey's collar bone and began licking, feeling him with his tongue, and made his way down the blonde's body. Joey felt warm lips on his left nipple and let out a pleasured moan. Kaiba sucked viciously at the soft flesh as Joey placed a hand on his lover's head, pushing him toward his heaving body.~~~
"Joe, snap outta it! Come on!"
Joey's eyes snapped open and he raised his head, looking around at the brightly lit banquet hall. He turned to the person next to him that had interrupted the memory of his dreams.
"What the hell? Tristan, did I fall asleep?" Joey asked, rubbing his eyes sleepily.
"Sure did," Tristan replied, looking him over. "You sure you been gettin' enough sleep, man?"
\
"Not last night," Joey admitted, eyeing the plate of food in front of him. Honestly he had not slept well in weeks as his schedule had been cutting into his social life and he tended to stay out till all hours of the night with his friends and band, Tristan included. And yet Tristan seemed to get plenty of sleep.
"Yeah, we were pretty fucked up last night, huh?" Tristan mused, taking a bite of his hamburger. "Gotta remember not to take so much at once."
"Yeah…" Joey nodded, still eyeing his food. He suddenly did not feel hungry anymore. All he felt was tired. "I think-- I think I'm gonna go lay down for a bit." He got up from the table and started out the door.
"Hey, wait up!" Tristan said, hurrying after him. "Somethin's buggin' you and I wanna know what it is. Spill it or get it knocked out."
Joey regarded his friend with an odd look as if he hardly knew him at all. "Not know Tris. I just wanna sleep, okay?"
Tristan sighed. "Okay. But when you're ready to talk, I'm here man, got that?"
"Yeah, sure thing."
The two of them continued walking side by side down the richly carpeted hallway and into the lobby. The entire room sparkled like a diamond, reflecting the afternoon sun that filtered in through the roof. Tristan gazed at the luxurious room, reflecting on how damn long it had taken the two of them to get this far in their careers. He turned to Joey and was about to say something about it, but noticed that the blonde was looking down to the floor, lost in thought. Tristan looked at his friend curiously. Joey had changed over the years. He had become more reserved, more quiet. He still retained the childlike personality he had as a teen in Domino, but it had been toned down immensely and the rambunctious boy had almost become a man. Almost.
"Mr. Wheeler, I'm glad I caught up with you!" came the hurried voice of Perry from behind them. "I have some great news for you!"
"Lay it on me, Per," Joey said, turning towards the small-statured man. Tristan marveled at how quickly Joey covered up his outward emotions.
"I've been able to schedule a performance in your hometown of Domino!" Perry announced, obviously quite pleased with himself.
Joey's face went pale. "You-- you what?" he stammered.
"I was able to schedule it two months from now," Perry went on, beaming brightly. "I thought you'd like to visit your old home. And think about the attendance! Joey Wheeler, hometown celebrity returns after years of absence! It'll be a sell-out!"
"Yeah, yeah," Joey nodded, trying to match Perry's excitement. "That's gonna be great. Good job, Per."
Perry smiled proudly. "Thank you sir." He bowed his head slightly and left the blonde and his friend alone in the lobby.
Tristan looked over at Joey. "You okay, man?" he inquired.
"Yeah, I'll be okay," Joey replied. "Just a lotta-- A lotta memories back there."
Tristan nodded in agreement. "Don't worry, man. It'll be okay. I'll be there with ya and maybe we'll see some old friends. I'm pretty sure Yugi's still back there and maybe Duke and Bakura…"
"What about Kaiba?" Joey asked quietly.
"Y'know, I think I heard somethin' bout Tea goin' off to New York. That's where she wanted to go, wasn't it?" Tristan asked, watching his friend with a quizzical look on his face.
"Yeah, yeah," Joey nodded, not bothering to repeat his unanswered question. "She wanted to go to New York to study dance."
"I think we should leave for Domino as soon as we can," Tristan proposed. "Then we'll get a chance to catch up on what's been goin' on. What'dya think?"
"I--I dunno," Joey replied. "Remember what happened last time we stayed in one place longer than we were scheduled back in Chicago? My calves still hurt from runnin' from those girls."
"Heh, yeah," Tristan mused. "That was pretty cool. But I mean, this is Domino. I kinda wanna be able to visit my family."
Joey nodded slowly. "Yeah, I know. But-- I dunno…"
"Please?" Tristan whined, looking at Joey with pleading eyes. "Pretty, pretty please?"
"You're full of shit," Joey smirked. "All right, we'll go early. But don't expect me to follow you around the city."
"Yes!" Tristan cheered. "Man, this is gonna be great!"
"Yeah, great…" Joey nodded. "Real great…"
"Seto! Seto, get up!" Mokuba yelled at his elder brother who was laying on his stomach, a pillow over his head. "You're going down to the office today whether you want to or not! And I'm making sure you get down there before I leave for work! Get up!" He seized the pillow from his brother's spindly grasp and whapped him in the back of the head with it. "Now!"
Kaiba growled in annoyance, turning to glare menacingly at his little brother. "Don't you dare hit me again," he snarled.
"I will if you don't get up. Come on, Seto!"
Kaiba groaned and sat up, regarding his brother with a cold stare. "All right, I'm up. Leave so I can get dressed."
Mokuba shook his head. "Nope, I'm not leaving till you're up and ready to go. Hurry up."
"Mokuba…" Kaiba snarled, but made his way over to his closet regardless. His brother had made up his mind and there was nothing he could say to sway his decision. He grabbed some garments that appeared somewhat clean and began the task of clothing himself. Mokuba looked around the room, noting the layer of dust on almost everything in there, the dirt staining the hardwood floor, the chipped paint on the wall beside his brother's bed.
"You should really clean up in here," Mokuba stated.
Kaiba made no reply other than a frustrated grunt. He had finished dressing and wandered out into the hallway bathroom and closed the door behind him. Mokuba followed, leaning against the wall on the other side.
"You hurry up in there!" Mokuba commanded. "You still gotta eat breakfast."
Again, the only response he received was a sound, not a word, and the raven-haired young man continued leaning against the wall, one foot resting against it and his arms crossed, waiting impatiently. Kaiba emerged from the bathroom some twenty minutes later, his hair damp from the shower.
"Okay good, now hurry up and eat and we can get going," Mokuba said, pushing his brother into the kitchen. "I made some eggs for you and there's orange juice in the fridge. Hurry up now, I'm going to be late."
Kaiba grunted and retrieved said eggs from the counter and sat down at the kitchen table with a fork in hand and quite quickly downed the morning meal in a matter of minutes. Mokuba regarded him with a skeptical eye.
"Seto, you know it's not good for you to eat so fast," he scolded. "Come on, we'll worry about the dishes later. Want me to give you a ride to the office?"
Kaiba did not answer. He simply moved past his brother and made his way down the stairs to the front door of the apartment building. Mokuba followed close behind, stopping on the sidewalk to ask his brother again if he would like a ride. Kaiba waved him off and began walking in the direction of the unemployment office down the street, and Mokuba sighed and got into his car.
