A/N: Alright you lot, this is my first fanfic, so please be gentle to the authoress. And reviews would be nice.
Disclaimer: I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh! Never have and shall never claim to. I also don't own Egypt or the Nile River. My house is not big enough to hold them, I do however, own Payna and the strange, twisting plot. Now, on with the fic…

Panya sighed, she was supposed to be outside, making the most of the cool temperature to work in the stables, but she was too distracted. Her brother was leaving tomorrow; he had been offered a position in the Pharaoh's palace, but she and her father had to stay, for only her brother had a unique amount of Shadow Magic. She herself was gifted with a little, but not enough to be worth anything. She sighed again, `Why must I be so useless.' She felt a hand touch her shoulder gently. She smiled. She could never be unhappy for long before her kaa, Fairy's Gift would emerge to comfort her. She turned and said, “Don't even think about lecturing me, I had enough of that today.” Fairy's Gift nodded. Panya often got lectured, her constant daydreaming, keeping “that overgrown butterfly out of the kitchen”, and of course, staying out of the village. Her mother had been killed there, when a Shadow Game had gotten out of hand. Ever since, her father had been careful not to let his only daughter go there. Panya had not been there since she was a small girl, tomorrow would be the first day she went there in ages. Her father didn't want her to go, but without her brother, she was the only one with the time. As the hot Egyptian sun sank below the horizon she wondered if she would ever see her brother again. They were twins in every way, save for their eye color. Her brother's were a deep red, while hers were a light, pale green, just like her mother's. Her brother had often complained about this when they were younger, (he was a troublemaker!) until Fairy's Gift had offered to turn his eyes pink. There were no more complaints from him. The sound of laughter traveled up the wind. She grinned; apparently her brother had succeeded in coaxing one of the crocodiles out of the Nile. Oh, the trouble he would cause. Even though he was 17 years old, he still was a troublemaker. Her thoughts were interrupted by her twin running breathless up the path. `Oh boy,' she thought “Got…to…hide…before…he…figures…ou t…who…did…it,” he said breathing hard. She didn't ask who “he” was. Silently, she pointed to the stable. Nodding his thanks, he ran off before his pursuers could find him. Her light laughter floated on the wind. Yes, she would miss him, but she would not forget, not now, or ever.
