Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ How the Beginning Began ❯ Filling an empty heart ( Chapter 2 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

A/N: Reviews would be nice. This chapter starts a little bit before the last one ended.
Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh! This wouldn't classify as fanfiction if I did.

Abarmo walked briskly along the path. The air was rapidly cooling as the sun's lack of presence grew longer, and longer. The Nile River was not far to his left, he heard laughter coming from its general direction. He shook his head, chuckling. How amusing the antics of ones with a child's heart could be. He walked slowly toward the river for some water, it had been a hot day and he was thirsty. As he approached the water, he viewed his reflection carefully, then nodded. It was a good disguise. All he had to do was make the wings invisible, as well as his aura, and no one would suspect him to be the archangel, not a soul. He drank quickly, and then set off again. He had a mission to complete after all. It was feared that the war of the shadow games was getting out of hand, and he was given the duty of making sure. He didn't mind. He liked Egypt very much. His walking slowed as he made sense of the scene around him. In front of him was a small stable, to the left were grain fields, and to the right was a small house. He automatically knew that a distressed soul was within. Fearing it was the power of the shadows, he went to see. As he neared the window he relaxed. The shadows had nothing to do with this. It was just a girl having a horrendous nightmare. He sighed; he could not just leave her like that. He would soothe whatever troubled her for tonight. He gently laid two fingers on her forehead. “Be at peace,” he said in a soft and commanding voice. She immediately stopped thrashing and relaxed. He smiled. His work here was done and had done more than stop a nightmare. One would rise to stop the shadows, and this girl would help it come to pass. An ethereal glow surrounded him, and he vanished.

She was running, running from the nightmares that tormented her so. But it was in vain. As the darkness of the nightmare consumed her, the torture could begin again. She would once again have to see her friends and family abandon her, coldly and cruelly. She tensed, preparing herself for it, but it never came. Her eyes slowly looked up, was it a trick? No, it was an apparition of a dove, flying gracefully, cloaking the darkness with light, filling her heart with hope. And she slept.
