I Never Knew

Yugi eyes opened, he slow sat to find himself not in park but in his room, but Yugi didn't remember walking home, Yugi looked around his room, everything was the same, wait… Where was Yami's half of the Millennium puzzle? It was gone, maybe this all was a dream! Maybe Yami was still in puzzle!!

\\Yami!!\\ Yugi smiled hoping that this whole experience was all just a really bad dream, Yugi started to panic when he got no response… maybe this whole was real?

\\Yami!?!?\\ Yugi's smile was beginning to fade, Yugi realized he had to face terms with reality, Yami was gone forever ad it was all his fault, Yugi didn't understand what he did wrong, but what Ryou's Yami said did bug him a bit.

~~Flashback~~

"Yugi!" Yugi looked up from the gravel under the swings to see Ryou running towards him. "Yugi… what… happened… we… were… worried… about… you!" Ryou said between gasps for air.

Yugi just sat there, still crying he held up Yami's half of the Millennium puzzle, Ryou's eyes widen and all of sudden Bakura appeared beside him, Bakura looked at Yami's puzzle.

"No Yami can do that," Bakura told them. Ryou and Yugi just looked at him blankly,

"You see, Yami's like me and Yami Yuugi, are spirits we need life energy to survive, which for us is the energy our hikari's life energy is what we feed off of," Bakura paused, then continued. "Our Millennium item are like our link to your life energy, without the link we cannot survive, meaning either Yami as become moral, which is very unlikely, or he has another source of life energy."

~~End Flashback~~

Yugi stared at the wall, 'Maybe Bakura was right, maybe Yami has a new source of energy… Maybe he don't need me anymore.' Yugi fell into tears again, not having Yami with him hurt so much, he lived without Yami once why couldn't he do it again?

Yami stood in the middle of the park holding his Millennium Puzzle in his hand, he was mad at Yugi, Yugi only let him out to duel, he never let his friends know about him, this was Yami's first look at the outside world on his own, with Yugi he felt like a prisoner, alone… but with out Yugi he felt so alone he guessed that either way it was lose, lose situation, but when he was with Yugi he felt so happy, maybe having ultimate power wasn't what he truly wanted.

Yami looked at the Millennium Puzzle that was in his left hand, and the Sword of the Dead that was in his right hand, he had to make a choice, which meant more to him, Yugi or power?

Alexandria watched Yami from the sky, she was not happy, he was doubting her Master's will, she need to get the Tree of the Dead in full bloom, only then will her Master be able to walk on this earth one more time, maybe she chose her victim wrong…

But he chose the Puzzle over the Sword, the Tree of the Dead would keep the souls Yami killed with the Sword locked in it for ever,

Her anger rose every minute, what was he going to choose, he could at least make his mind up quicker…

Yugi had to get back to the park, something inside of him told him to get to the park… NOW! Yugi ran as fast as could, lucky for him this time is wasn't raining, Yugi could see the front entrance of the park, he was almost there, Yugi ran up to the front entrance, there standing in the middle of the park, hold a Sword and the Millennium Puzzle was… Yami. Yugi had to tell Yami how he felt, Yugi set himself in a dead run.

The sound of sneakers slapping the ground caught Yami attention, he raised his head to see Yugi running towards him, odd Yami thought he put a sleeping spell on Yugi… he wasn't supposed to be awake until tomorrow, maybe he cast the spell wrong, but for some strange reason Yami wanted Yugi to be here.

The closer Yugi came to Yami the darker he felt, but at the same time, he felt a little bit better, almost like his soul was being pieced back together.

"Yami!" Yugi came to stop five feet away from Yami. Yami just stood there and stared at Yugi.

"What?" Yami answered his an icy tone, that gave Yugi the shivers, but Yugi had to tell him, it was not or never…

"Yami… I… I…" Yugi couldn't say it, not while looking at Yami, he swallowed the lump in his throat closed his eyes and blurted out. "Yami, I love you."

Yami dropped the Sword, he had no idea Yugi felt that way about him, Yami dropped to his knees, he was so power hungry he forgot what was really important to him, "Yugi, I'm sorry… I never knew you felt that way," tears started pouring from Yami's eyes his cause Yugi so much pain… and he killed Tea… but wasn't important, what was important is that he had hurt is aibou, he hurt the one person he loved more then life it's self, "Yugi, I love you, too, please forgive me."

Yugi slowly opened his eyes and looked at Yami, 'Maybe 'Why' would be better off unanswered…' Yugi smiled, "Of course, I forgive you… It's not like you killed anyone!" Yugi laugh as he threw his arms around Yami's neck.

Yami smiled and teleported Yugi and himself back to Yugi's room, as soon as they were back in the room, Yami pulled Yugi into a soul capturing kiss…
