The bottom of the matter. Chapter ten of 'I've wanted you forever and tonight'.

Seto Kaiba, vampire extraordinaire, was fast asleep when his evening wake-up call came in. It was a few moments of the heady pump of blood in ones body before the blood-sucker finally caught on that there was something to eat in the near vicinity. Without a sound or extra movement the vampire rose straight up, his blanket falling around his waist, his pupils swallowing his eyes.

A little girl was standing by the bed and she gave a scream when he sat up, jumping backward. "Holy fucking Queen! Wanna' warn someone next time?" She growled at him in English.

Seto smiled catlike. "My apologies. I have been getting that a lot lately." He replied in kind.

"Jeez. Anyway, my name is Daisy, and I'll be your meal tonight."

"That is awfully nice of you Daisy." Seto inclined his head.

The kid blinked purple eyes at him. "Well I sorta have this bet with one of my mortal friends that getting bitten won't hurt, she thinks it won't, I think it will."

"Shall you find out?"

"Ohh, spookiness." The Fairy nodded and Seto moved closer, bringing her to him with an arm around her waist.

"Kinda' friendly aren't you, can't I see you when you do this?"

"I don't want to spill blood down your clothing. It's hard to swallow if I bite with you facing me." Seto murmured, softly sniffing the child, she couldn't have looked more than ten years old, but her blood smelt really nice for some reason. He held the girl still while he clamped onto her neck. She gave a little involuntary whimpered as his teeth sank through her flesh and then the sweet taste of blood flooded over the vampire like a magical release and he swallowed warm blood and sanity in gulps. The Fairy girl sagged in his arms and he stopped sucking, pulling his teeth out and licking the wound delicately. The girl smelt really nice, it added a good tint to the blood.

"Are you alright, Daisy-san?" He asked in English.

"Ow, goddamn that smarts." She murmured weakly, her hand went to the wound and she whispered something in whatever language the Fairies kept using, a green glow illuminated the puncture marks briefly before they closed over magically.

"Thank you." Seto bowed softly.

"No problem, although if I come again, put me into one of those kinky vampire mind spells." She bowed softly and left the room.

Seto yawned and stood, his eyes returning to normal, he was about to put his shoes back on when he noticed a set of clothing hanging on the room's wardrobe. There was a little blue note pinned to a flimsy looking shirt.

'Kaiba, get into this gear, ring the bell and get a move on slow-poke. Katsuya.' Seto smirked and turned back to the clothing, removing the note so he could examine what he'd been asked to wear.

The shirt was barely a shirt. A real gold chain held four pieces of pink gauze together in a very flimsy imitation of a shirt. As Seto took off his current shirt and swapped it for the half-shirt he noticed there were holes in the two pieces of cloth that went over his arms. Slipping his hands through brought the shirt around his upper arms. The vampire sighed.

The pants were little better. To say that they were pants was very nearly a joke. He suspected the whole outfit was a joke. But he slipped into it nonetheless, he didn't really care anyway. The bottoms were at first glance a skirt, but upon closer inspection Seto recognized the slight resemblance to Japanese kimono pants, the pants weren't as flared as Japanese ones were, but they were just as loose the cream color matched the gauze shirt. The vampire pulled them on and fiddled with the gold clasp until they were secured. The shoes were perhaps out of place, they were gold armored boots that hit at upper calf, it was virtually impossible to slip into the boots and it took the vampire a good five minutes before he had them secured, it was then that he noticed the clip that released the top of the boot so it could be put on with ease. Seto wasn't impressed.

Finally 'dressed' the vampire looked around for the bell he was supposed to ring, a pull rope dangled from the ceiling near the door so Kaiba pulled it. There was no sound. Just as he turned to look for something else that might be a bell there was a knock on the door. The brunette crossed the room to open the door.

"Took ya' fuckin' time." Jounouchi muttered as the door swung open. "We're fuckin' late now, ya' know? Jeez, don't tell me ya' don't have any fucking armor? Great."

Seto's mind, however, had blanked out. His puppy was wearing a similar outfit to him, bar the fact that Jounouchi was not wearing pants. The blonde puppy was wearing a very, very, very, very short cloth, Seto had the deepest inclination to blow the piece of cloth away and see if there was anything under there. Jounouchi's golden boots were a strange contraption, they were armored around the foot and heal but became a section of crisscrossing metal straps as they traveled up his leg, at the knee-joint they secured into a bolt that allowed the Fairy to bend his knee, which he did, kneeling in front of Seto and lifting the vampire's flimsy pants to cheek his boots.

"Alright, let's go get ya' some armor. Queen, an' I thought I was half-naked. What kind o' weapon do ya' want? Sword, bow, dart, axe?" It was with this comment that the vampire noticed the tactful body armor under Jounouchi's clothing, what Seto had first thought was decorative clasps and attachments was in fact chunks of armor. The Fairy had a thin band of gold around his forehead; in the center was a small golden gem that glittered nicely, his shirt was less of a shirt than Seto's half-shirt, it was a piece of cloth at the front and back attached to a golden chain that ran down the Fairy's arms to secure around his elbow and then crisscross down his forearm.

The vampire swallowed his suddenly moist mouth and fought off a billion sexual desires so he could intelligently answer the blonde's question. It probably only looked like a brief pause to Jounouchi. "I don't really need a weapon, puppy; I can grow my nails to six inches."

The blonde laughed. "Believe me; you don't want to get that close to an Elf."

"Fine then, I'll take a bow I suppose."

The blonde nodded and motioned the vampire to follow him, Seto didn't mind, he'd get to watch Jounouchi's ass as they walked this way. Not that it was hard to not see the blonde's ass, the Fairy had next to no cover. He followed his puppy happily down several corridors and into a tower, for a brief moment Seto wondered if they would go up and meet a wizard, but that was scrapped as the blonde didn't even break stride and headed downward. Their shoes made clicking sounds on the stone stairwell.

"Seto… I mean, Kaiba… wha… Nevermind." Jounouchi half-turned to address the vampire but then shook his head turning back to lead the way.

"No, no, what is it, puppy?" Seto felt himself smirk despite himself. Who didn't know what was bothering the blonde?

"About… no, just nevermind. I don't care."

"Oh really, well if you don't care then why do you bring it up?"

"Queen, you are such a cold bastard!" Then the Fairy turned around and continued walking.

Seto chuckled quietly, although from the set of Jounouchi's shoulders, the Fairy heard him.

They continued in silence for a very long time. It got steadily colder as they descended, Seto's hands were blue when they finally got to the bottom, Jounouchi's teeth could be heard chattering, but the Fairy said nothing about why they were becoming humanoid popsicles. They finally reached their destination at two huge doors.

Seto's puppy turned to glance at the vampire. "We're about ta' go into da' hell planes, you might not see da' human world again for millennia, dis' is yer' last chance ta' pull back under guarantee."

Mokuba had long outgrown his boyish dependency on Seto, he was good at running the company and made fewer mistakes than Seto had, they didn't have any other family between them, besides that Seto was practically a ghost in the company as it was, no one noticed him, and aside from the rumor among the employees of the building being haunted after dark. He didn't really have much of a life anymore; guess that's why they called it an unlife.

The immortal level Jounouchi with his cobalt eyes. "I understand, and I'll go with you."

"Why?"

"Himitsu." (Secret.)

Jounouchi's small shoulders sagged but he nodded. The door swung open and the two long-lived teenagers looked into a swirling portal for a moment. Kaiba could only imagine what it meant for Jounouchi, but to him, it was creepy.

"There are thousands of Fae beyond that door, all setting up their bases, tents, thousands, upon thousands of secret resources caches, weapon tents, horses. We can teleport great portions of food and water down to the soldiers through this portal, but it has to be held up by people already down there, the teleportation is vulnerable, especially any goods inside of it. The Elves probably have a head-start on us but it won't matter, with the Heir Prince and I leading the golden divisions into battle, we'll crush them."

"Why didn't you two crush them with these golden divisions before?"

"They were still too young six hundred years ago."

Seto swallowed. "Lead on, puppy."

Jounouchi grabbed Seto's hand and pulled the vampire through the door. The last thing Seto saw of the palace were the huge grey doors banging shut behind them.

Teleportation into the hell planes is a lot like free-fall. So much so that many believe there is no magic involved at all bar for at the bottom where an invisible force catches you.

Seto didn't know about the invisible force.

"Fuck!" the air went whistling past them, and he and Jounouchi fell like rocks. All his senses went into overdrive, he could feel every pore on Jounouchi's fingers, hear a roar of sound below them, but there was nothing to grab a hold of.

"Just relax!" Jounouchi screamed over the roaring wind.

But the words didn't reach the vampire; the brunette grabbed Jounouchi closer to him and put all his thoughts into stopping the fall. Gradually they slowed. Relief flooded the vampire. He glowed felt red pangs of power escaping his eyes as he forced the magic pounding them downward to back off.

"What are you? Fucking insane? Cut it out! Fall! Fucking fall quick! We're sitting ducks at this speed!" Jounouchi howled, hands digging into the vampire's arms, forcing Seto to release him.

The blonde plummeted, body submitting to the rushing current of force.

Seto wondered what Jou meant but his question was answered when something pink and sharp looking whizzed past his head, the item, whatever it was, was enough to distract him.

"Shit." He fell.

The earth rushed up to meet him; he could make out the form of Jounouchi just ahead of him, it looked like Jounouchi was moving on the ground or something. And then just as Seto thought he would hit the bottom and become a smear on the earth he stopped. He just… stopped.

"The next time your undead friend decides to pull a stunt like that I won't miss!"

"I apologize, I forgot that we had fixed da' worst o' da' transportation problems."

"Mistakes like that will cost you a limb on the field Duke Katsuya. Inform the vampire, or I will just let the Elves take their shots next time."

Kaiba got up shakily as the crown prince turned and left. Great impression he'd made on that guy. "Did he throw that pink thing at me?"

"Ye're lucky it wasn't green, Kaiba. Next time I tell ya' ta' relax, follow da' advice, I didn't live so long dat' I didn't pick up a few points o' intelligence." Jounouchi turned to level Kaiba with a glare.

Kaiba held his hands up defensively. "Fine puppy, fine." Besides, how could he argue with Jounouchi when he looked so cute in next to no clothing?

Jounouchi sniffed and turned his head. "C'mon, with an act like dat' da' quicker we get ya' some armor da' better."

It was then that Kaiba took in the hell planes. There was faceless grey earth as far as the eye could see, a hill rose before them, obscuring everything. The sky was a sickly grey color. Around the vampire children ran rampant, everyone present was wearing similar clothing to Jounouchi and Seto's get-ups and some were worse in Seto's opinion. A group of five year olds were pouring over a wooden table, one of them pointing at something printed on a piece of crusty paper. Most of the people present were teenagers, several carted boxes around, and there was a line to a stone well into which a few people were dropping carts and dragging boxes out of. It must have been another portal. All around him tents were being pitched, tables unfolded, not a single person was unmoving, very few of those present were beyond the development of a teenager.

Seto took it all in in an instant and hurried to catch up to his puppy. They wove their way through several intersections of bodies and Seto caught a whiff of the landscape, the ground smelt like death, sickness and blood. The stench forced Seto to frown. They came to a stop at a normal looking tent but whoever was running it gave Jounouchi a huge smile and came forward.

"Joey! How the hell is my little puppy? I saw the little show in the teleportation device; Seto Kaiba, been ages since I've seen you, let alone a vampire, you guys just migrate so often. How's business?" Otogi Ryuji inquired, catching the blonde Fairy up in a hug and spinning him around before kissing him on each cheek as he put the vampire's puppy back down.

Seto should have seen it coming, why he didn't was a profound mystery indeed. "Why didn't I see that one coming?" and why was Otogi manhandling Seto's goods?

"Cause yer' thick?" Jounouchi was grinning ear-to-ear, evidently he had been hoping for such a reaction, Jou was really throwing the vampire in deep.

"You're not fraternizing with my brother are you again, love?" Shizuka came out of the recesses of the tent and bowed to Kaiba.

"Aw, honey, it's so hard not to, especially when the freak wears clothing like that."

Shizuka smiled while she whapped the cat-eyed man upside the head. "Pay no attention to him Jounouchi; if you do I'll kill you. He's mine."

Jounouchi laughed awkwardly and smoothly stepped back. "No problem, sister dear. Anyway, vampire here needs some armor."

"Then you're here to see me. C'mon into the shop." Otogi bowed smoothly and motioned them in.

Seto wondered if Shizuka had been serious when she'd said that.

They came about five steps in before Otogi pulled the lid off one of the crates. "I'm wagering he's about a twelve."

"I want him in silvers."

"Silvers?"

"Yeah, he'll be shootin'."

"Silvers for shooting? Are you sure, that's way too heavy for a bowman."

"He can handle it, ne Kaiba?"

"What are you trying to get me into?" Seto groaned.

"He wants you in full-plate mail." Otogi answered.

Jounouchi shrugged. "It won't be too heavy for a vampire, right? Besides, ya' won't need it on until da' fighting starts."

"What he's not telling you is that the fighting never stops." Shizuka put in.

"Why do you want me in full-plate mail?" Seto asked.

"Because, dat' way if ya' do somethin' stupid we don't have ta' worry. Unless ya' shoot someone; don't shoot anyone but da' bad-guys." The blonde added the last with a frown.

Seto sighed. "Fine. Honestly, one mistake and you guys are all over me for it."

Jounouchi shrugged. "Its sort o' a rare thing, its da' first mistake I've seen ya' make. Let me have my glory o' rubbing salt inta' wounds while I can."

Otogi retrieved another, smaller box and pulled the lid off. Inside was a bundle of golden hoops. As the cat-eyed man pulled the top one out Seto caught sight of a silver gem. He glanced over at Jounouchi and noticed the blonde's own circlet.

Jounouchi caught his look and grinned. "Oh yeah, forgot ta' mention what it does. When the fighting starts ya'll hear a lot o' clicking, dat's how we activate da armor, here, I'll show ya." Jounouchi brought his hand up to his forehead and click his fingers.

The gem in the circlet dilated and a white light enveloped the Fairy. Seconds later the glow vanished and Jounouchi wasn't wearing flimsy clothing anymore. The circlet had extended to become a tri-point helmet, the boots now ran all the way up his legs and disappeared under the blonde's pants, which he then removed to show the smooth, sexless armor coating his hips and groin there was a gap across his stomach where the bottom armor stopped and the top armor began. Where the bottom armor was smooth and conforming, the top armor was sharp angles and points. The shoulders had been molded into spikes and small spikes ran from his shoulders all the way down his arms. The chest had a film over it that Kaiba realized was the flimsy half-shirt.

"See, not such a fucking peep-show now, eh?" Jounouchi twirled, showing off that the armor was molded to his ass.

Shizuka snorted softly with mirth and Otogi had to look away, his shoulders shaking.

"What's so funny?"

"Only that if you ride into battle on a horse, puppy; your men will forever be grateful." Seto managed to say straight-faced.

"What do you mean?"

"Look for yourself."

Jounouchi twisted and glanced over his shoulder.

Seto watched the blonde's blood race up into his cheeks. "I see."

And he quietly put the cloth back over his ass.
