Encounter w/Foes

"You're late." You turned to look cold-dead blue eyes in the darkness.

"I stopped for a bite on the way." You went back to splashing your face in the water.

"Why do you do that? I know you can't feel it."

`The thing is I can feel it.'

"I do it to remind me that I am still part of the world of what I used to be." You got up and faced Kaiba in the dark. He was wearing his usual clothes, but everything was in pure black.

"I think it's pretty useless." Joey appeared next to him.

You rolled your eyes, "Shut up mutt."

"I am not a mutt….I am-"

"DON'T YOU SAY IT!" You had him pinned up against a tree trunk before he could say vampire, "You do and we all die."

"I thought you said we were immortal?" Yami appeared out of the shadows. The moonlight lit all of you by the river.

"I did. If one mortal finds out that we even exist, we go `bye-bye' because the mutt here couldn't shut his mouth." You turned to him.

"You didn't answer my question."

You sighed, "We can't die, because we are immortal." You let go of Joey and let him fall to the ground. you soon noticed that all of you were wearing pure black.

"Go on ___." Joey stood up and straightened his clothes. "You have a good grip, but to bad you can't hurt me anymore. I can't feel anything."

"I know Joey, but if you keep interrupting me you are going to get it." Joey shut his mouth as you continued. "Come here."

You motioned them to close in around you. "Bakura is your king and mine as well. If you bite him and kill him at the same time with a stake through the heart, he will die and we can resume our lives like we once were:……….. mortals." You was whispering so soft you could barely here your own voice. If Bakura heard you, you'd be dead within a heart beat. He has the power to kill mortals and immortals.

"Why didn't you tell us this before? I could be with my little brother." Seto was outraged and was advancing on you.

Because you were the strongest out of all them and more experienced, you pounced on Seto and pinned him to the ground. He struggled but couldn't get free, "You idiot! Do you really think that killing an immortal could be easy? Don't you think I have already tried?" You leaned into whisper in his ear, "Seto, you out of all people I thought I could trust."

You let go, got up and started walking in a direction, any direction was good to you. "Wait!" Yami landed in front of you and held you by the shoulders. They were still getting used to their abilities.

Joey and Seto landed on your right and left looking at you, "What do you mean you have already tried?" You looked Yami in the face.

"I have already tried…..no matter what I do or say…nothing can kill Bakura…………………but the chosen ones can." You looked down at the ground in dissatisfaction, because you had tried to kill your king.

"But you just said -"

"Yes Joey, I did say that. But only the chosen ones can kill him."

"And who exactly are the chosen ones?" You looked up into the sky passing all their faces.

"There are only four of them."

"Who are the chosen ones ___?" Joey asked the question again.

"I am not sure." You looked at the moon, trying to decipher its meaning of being in the sky at this time. `I wish you were the sun. But most of all I wish I was mortal.'

"___?" Seto waved his hand in front of your face. Yami had already let go of you.

You hit his hand away and looked into his face. "I have a question for you….do you have feelings?"

"What?" Seto was taken aback. After the moment of silence, his face went expressionless again. "No. Why?"

"I do, and yet I am a-I can't say, because of the dang mortals around us." You paused before continuing, "You can't say what we are in public because if a mortal hears us and they are the chosen one, then all of us could be gone by the next night…………

"You see, if that mortal knows about us from the beginning and they find out that we are what we are and kill Bakura then we go with him."

"I don't get what you are saying."

"I'll try to explain better Joey. Ok…..lets see," You took a step back to look at all three of them in the dark. `I can't believe I turned all of them in the last two weeks. Because of me they are living the life of agony and torment with me.' You stared into the darkness when you heard a branch snap behind you you tuned your ears onto what was behind you.

"What is it ___?" Yami was staring at you intently.

You turned around, "Someone is here." `Dang it…! He caught me!'

"Telling them of the death that won't happen to me as long as I live?"
