Chapter 1, A cry to Heaven

A/N: Instead of having Yami wear the same clothes as Yugi, I decided to make him look like a pharaoh from his last incarnation. When he appears outside the sennen puzzle, he's faded like a ghost, at least in the anime, passing through physical matter. And koi means "love", used a lot in yaoi fics. Yugi is from our universe. Yuugi, is Yugi's counterpart from the parallel universe.

Translations:

From the bottom of my heart, I love you dearly.

Aibou, from the bottom of my heart, I love you dearly, too.

(3) OUCHH!!!

* * * Our universe, Yugi's POV

My koi stood by the foot of my bed, in his faded spirit form. He wore a long, snow-white kilt wrapped around his lower body. A brightly minted gold belt, inlaid with precious gems girdled his slender waist. He embellished himself further with wristbands, ankle bands and armbands, made of the same-minted gold. The soft, older antique gold of the sennen puzzle, reflected the light subtlety, not as brightly as his belt or gold bands did.

His thick, full aura glittered with golden energy. Each particle of gold light sparkled, swirling together in a beautiful dance about him.

His eyes glowed vividly like rubies, lit directly from the light streaming in, through my bedroom window. A star shaped twinkle danced in his ruby eyes, brightening them more with love.

"Kokoro no soko kara, kimi o aishiteru (1)," I whispered, gazing into his loving eyes.

"Aibou, kokoro no soko kara, omae mo aishiteru (2), " he whispered back, softly, lost in the crimson of my eyes.

I expected to land a kiss on my koi's lips. Instead, I forgot, passing through his faded form. I hit the floor below me. "ITAIII!!! (3)" I whimpered, rubbing my head in pain.

He knelt besides me, trying to embrace me. Only the same thing happened again. His arms passed through me, like a ghost through solid objects.

"I'm so sorry, Aibou," he said, his voice tinged with sadness. "I forgot this happens because I'm a spirit."

"No beloved koi, this is my fault," I breathed, sighing deeply. "I should have realized this. If only, you had a body." I spoke in a sad tone of voice, saddening my love more.

"I know," he agreed, feeling even sadder.

"Then we would be able to hold each other, teach each other," Yugi said, blushing. He whispered, "And love each other."

"I know," he murmured, sadly. "Then, I could show you the pleasures of love. I would be able to," Yami's voice lowered, "make you fly."

"I wish for that more than anything, my koi," I said, speaking from the bottom of my heart.

Does a higher power exist who can help us?

I really love you deeply, Yuugi.

My feelings are the same. Jounouchi-kun, I love you too.

Shit or damn.

In my backyard, basking under the afternoon sun, my koi smiled. His thick, honey locks fell about his sweet face. Two warm chocolate eyes peered out at me, partly hidden under his locks. I felt myself melting into his rich, deep pools.

His thin pink lips, curled up into broad smile. "Yuugi, omae wa honto ni daisuke dazo (1)" The melody of his baritone voice, stirred my heart even more.

"Boku no kimochi mo onaji da. Jounouchi-kun mo daisuki da (2)," I replied back, feeling myself fall in love.

I tilted my head up, and he leaned over slightly to close the gap between us. As we kissed, I tasted a sharp, bitter tang on his lips.

//-->Kuso! (3) He drank again![Author ID1: at Tue Jun 17 19:08:00 2003 ]// I took a step back, breaking out of our kiss.

"You LIAR, Jou-kun! You said you wouldn't drink again!" I yelled, lashing out at him.

His eyes widened in surprise. He didn't expect me to pick up on the taste of alcohol, coating his lips. Like before, he promised me many times he'd quit drinking, only to go back on his word.

"Listen Yuug-," he began.

"Just get out!" I interrupted, cutting him off. "As long as you drink, your addiction divides us, so our relationship is over!"

He burst out into tears, running out of my yard. I raced into my house, slamming the back door behind me. If only he'd stop drinking. Can't anyone help me, even God himself?

I blinked, fighting back my tears.

* * *Heaven, Zadkiel's POV

A/N:

(1) Zadkiel, his name means "righteousness of God," belonging to the ranks of the dominations. He's the chief of dominations. He's considered to be an angel of mercy, freedom, the Patrol Angel of all who forgive, and he's also an angel of prayer. He held back the hand of Abraham to prevent him from sacrificing Isaac, so he's usually shown holding a dagger. He also follows Archangel Michael, as he enters battle. Also, his color is purple. Uses violet flame magic.

(2) Jazar A genius who "compels love". [Author ID1: at Tue Jun 17 19:13:00 2003 ]

As I stood looking over Heaven, I once again marveled at the glory that our Creator made. The tawny soft soil, the roads lined in perfect garnets, the roads, rich and red as rubies.

The roads were filled with angels, traveling from all reaches of the universe to honor God upon his throne. If however, God showed himself in full radiance, His light would blind all of us. He dimmed his aura, taking on the appearance of a brilliant, winged human. God's fiery eyes, burned like balls of golden fire, illuminating us with such unconditional love, radiance and compassion, humans could hardly fathom it. His long, silky hair cascaded like a waterfall of pure liquid gold, behind his back.

He folded his large, wispy feather wings behind them. Each feather tip, from the largest to the smallest, emitted a soft gentle glow.

The Heavenly host of the universe flocked around him. The auras of some angels were white. Most auras glowed t a sunny gold though. The blending of the auras of all the angels around him, extending as far as the eye could see, created the effect of an ocean of light. The ocean suddenly dropped, as the angels fell on their knees, chanting God's name.

I'd love to join my angel brothers and sisters in praising our Great Creator, but I'm busy like always, answering the prayers of all humanity. I sit on a cloud, far above God's throne. My name is Zadkiel, it means "righteousness of God." I hold in my hand a scepter as the emblem of my authority. I am the chief of the order Dominions. Dominions act as a kind of middle management between the Seraphim, Cherubim, and Thrones above, and the Virtues and Powers below, who in turn, govern the Principalities, Archangels and Angels. Only in times of extreme rarity, do Dominions make their presence known to humans. That's usually the task of angels. They take care of most of the prayers I receive.

But there are two particular prayers I received a few days ago, I do not think even the angels can handle. Angels do not have the power to allow people from parallel dimensions to meet each other. But I do. That's why I must be the one to answer those two prayers. In the first prayer from Yugi, he asked God if he could help. Yami specifically wanted his own body. In the second prayer, Yuugi asked if someone could help Jounouchi stop drinking. I feel Yugi might be the one to help Jounouchi beat his addiction. If he did that, Yuugi in turn might lend Yami his body, in return. Would Yugi be willing to help him?

"Zadkiel (1), of course, he'd be willing," said a beautiful, deep, base voice behind me.

Interrupted, I awoke from my meditation, facing the one who spoke from the section of cloud behind me. "Who are you? How did you get here?" I asked.

His white silken kilt blew softly, lifted by the Heavenly breezes. His bronze skin had a sunny glow to it, catching the light of the angels below.

"I'm Yami, the spirit of my Aibou's sennen puzzle. While Aibou dreams, I'm free to travel throughout the universe to the different planes of existence. I came here to ask you, to help Aibou and I," he said aloud at last.

"I snuck him in," declared Jazar (2), one of Heaven's angels of love. "He was so heartbroken, I couldn't help but let him in, Zadkiel."

"You WHAT!?" I gasped, standing up.

"I snuck him in so he could meet you, Zadkiel. If you can't help him, then you're not the true angel of prayer," he replied, laying a guilt trip on me. "I've thought about helping him and his lover. It's just that, it's a bit complicated. If Yugi goes to Yuugi's world, and he convinces Jounouchi to stop drinking, Yuugi in turn could lend Yami his body. Then both relationships would work out, ideally."

"I'll ask Yuugi!" offered Jazar excitedly.

"I'll ask Aibou," rejoiced Yami, happily.

"If they both approve, then I'll send Yugi to Yuugi's world," I said onto them.

* * * Our universe, Yami's POV

Sugoi means perfect, or awesome.

I loved watching my dear Aibou sleep. He curled up into a ball, like a baby cherub falling asleep in a cradle of clouds. He called out my name in his sleep, softly, like he did every night. "Yami, Yami, kokoro no soko kara, aishiteru." He said it with such sweetness, I felt so moved that I cried tears of joy. If I just had a body, I could lay beside him, wrapping my arms around him, as an angel wraps its wings around its body, to stay warm. I want to be your wings, Aibou.

As much as I hated waking him up, I forced myself to disturb my sleeping angel.

"Wake up, my Aibou," I whispered, gently in my deep, resonant voice.

He stirred, than opened his lovely crimson eyes. "It's 11: 14 p.m., Koi," he yawned, sleepily, speaking to me in his sweet tenor voice.

"Aibou, I have some good news, maybe. I might be able to use someone's body, so we can touch each other. But, he wants you to help him first. He'll lend me his body to me, after you help him," I told him, feeling my heart flutter with excitement.

"This is great, Yami! Who is he?" Aibou asked, sitting up in bed, rubbing his sleepy eyes.

"He's you, sort of. There are many different worlds that exist in parallel universes. Some are very similar to ours, while others quite different. He is your counterpart who lives in one of these parallel worlds. Jounouchi-kun is his koi. The problem is, the Jounouchi of that world has a drinking problem. His addiction divides him from your counterpart, and sadly their relationship hasn't worked out. If you could get that Jounouchi to stop drinking, then their relationship will work out. In exchange for us helping Jounouchi, the Yuugi of that world has agreed to let me use his body, for a while," I explained, sitting on my Aibou's bed.

"Sugoi (1)! I want to go to his world, now!" He piped, full of anticipation. His eyes lit up like twinkling crimson stars.

"Now!?" I asked, unprepared.

"Anytime is perfect," rang out a melodious, angelic voice echoing around us.

Zadkiel and Jazar materialized in their full, celestial beauty by the foot of my Aibou's bed. Zadkiel towered above my Aibou, standing about six feet tall. His robe, draped over a slender, delicate frame, shimmered with violent and magenta hues blushing to the lightest of pink where the folds lay. Along the robe's bottom, neckline sleeve edges, a beautiful, embroidered, wisteria pattern caught my eye. The elaborate vine pattern clung to the edges of the fabric, weaving in and out of the violet robe. The thread of the pattern, a burnished gold in color, stood out against the darkness the fabric. The vibrant gold upon the violet fabric, created such a lovely contrast, it stole my breath away.

A golden sash, as shiny as newly minted gold, shimmered in the light of Yugi's room. It crossed over his slightly muscled chest, from his slopping right shoulder, down around to his slender waist. The sash must cross over between his wings in the back, I figured. I looked behind him to see if I was right. It was partly hid by his strands of long violent hair, which fell between his wings. The delicate strands thinned out just above his waistline.

Enchanted by Zadkiel's beauty, from his robe to his hair, I gazed at his massive wings. The inner parts of his wings glowed a vivid magenta, with ruby highlights on each feather. The ruby highlights grew less subdued, around the outer parts of his wings, where the magenta ran into a royal, violet purple. So many shades of ruby, magenta and violet blended together, creating the most beautiful wings I ever set my eyes upon.

In comparison, Jazar wore a simple linen tunic, fluttering his small white wings behind him.

"Your counterpart, Yuugi, is waiting for you," said Jazar, musically.

"Before you go, we must warn you that Yuugi's world is quite different from yours. The governments of his world have formed a united government, called the World Government, which controls every aspect of life in his world. The citizens are forced to wear armbands, so they're always monitored by satellite. If they're caught without their armbands, then the patrol bots have liberty to shoot them on the spot," Zadkiel warned, fearing for Yugi's life. His voice was as musical and Heavenly as Jazar's.

"Knowing the dangers involved, do you still wish to go, Yugi?" Jazar questioned, seriously.

"Yes!" replied Aibou, even more determined to go.

"Once you're there, we can't help you. It'd go against God's Law of non-interference. We can only open a portal, allowing you to return to your world, once your mission is accomplished. Do you understand?" clarified Zadkiel.

Aibou nodded, ready to embark on this journey to Yuugi's world.
