Mako The Sea Duelist
Rachel and Kim followed the others as they departed the gigantic ship. The gaurds led them to a clearing, large enough to hold thousands of people. Up ahead was Pegasus's castle, dull and gloomy despite the bright sunshine.
"What's all this about?" questioned Joey as he watched more duelists come forth.
"I think Pegasus is going to make a speech or something," said Yugi looking up at the castle's balcony.
"Shhhh!" whispered Rachel nudging Joey and Yugi. "He's coming out."
"Welcome duelists!" yelled Pegasus cheerfully as he walked out onto the balcony. "Welcome to the Duelist Kingdom!"
Shouts could be heard from the massive crowd and Rachel was sure that they could be heard around the world.
"This tournament will be the most challenging yet," he said with his eyes twinkling. "There will be new rules on the island, new and competitive rules. I would tell them to you myself, but what fun would there be in that?"
Rachel watched as the others put on their dueling gloves and she slipped hers on too. 'This tournament won't be easy' she thought.
"When the fireworks light up the sky, the dueling will begin!" screamed Pegasus over the numerous cheers.
Fireworks exploded into the sky, illuminating Rachel's face a bright orange. 'This may not be easy' she thought. 'But, I'm ready'
"Well," said Kim walking off as she dragged Rachel behind her. "I guess we'll see you guys on the flip side!"
Rachel and Kim said their good-byes to Yugi, Joey, Téa, and Tristan and set off towards the island's shore.
"Let's find some one to duel!" said Rachel eagerly as they walked along the beach.
"Look!" said Kim pointing and jumping up and down. "There's a duelist dude!"
Rachel looked over to the area that Kim was pointing to. There was a long dock and at the very end there was a blue-haired duelist sitting on the edge, his feet dangling in the clear Caribbean water.
Without thinking, Rachel ran over to the person and declared, "I challenge you to a duel!"
He stood up from the ledge and turned around. His unruly blue hair covered half of his face, but his stunning dark eyes shown through. He wore only shorts, reveling his muscular chest. "I'm in no mood to duel,' he said quietly. "At least not now."
Rachel and Kim just stared at him, obviously attracted. Rachel quickly snapped out of her stagnant state and said, "That's ok. We don't have to duel, but what's wrong?"
"First allow me to tell you my name," he said smoothing out his shorts. "I'm Mako."
"This is Rachel," said Kim pointing to her friend. "I'm Kim."
"Nice to meet you," greeted Mako bowing to Rachel and Kim.
Rachel blushed lightly and asked, "So what's bothering you?"
"Umm...I guess," stuttered Mako placing a hand behind his back. "I've just been thinking about my past, that's all."
"Oh," said Kim. "I have a feeling that there's more to it than that."
"I admit it, there's more," he said sadly. "I lost my father when I was young. I was thinking about him."
"I'm sorry," said Rachel. "I shouldn't have asked."
"Yeah," said Kim. "You and your big mouth!"
"No, its okay," said Mako. "I've been wanting someone to talk to."
'Rachel you do not like Mako,' thought Rachel as she zoned out. 'Remember, you love Joey, not Mako.'
"Want to go fishing?" yelled Mako as he waved a hand in front of Rachel's face.
"Huh?...What did you say?" spoke Rachel snapping out of her thoughts.
"I asked you guys if you wanted to go fishing," said Mako a little agrivated.
"Oh, I'd love to," said Rachel happily. "I love to fish! I used to go fishing with my dad all the time."
"Yeah, me too!" said Kim whipping out a fishing pole from behind her back.
"We're not fishing with that," said Mako pointing to Kim's fishing rod. "We're fishing my way."
"And how is that?" asked Rachel smartly.
"We'll dive with the fish," he said grinning as he pulled a spear out from his backpack. "I believe that this is the only right way to fish."
"Umm...One problem Mako," said Rachel nervously. "I can't swim."
"I'll teach you," said Mako kindly. "Why don't you go change and we'll get started?"
"Ok," said Kim as her and Rachel walked into the dressing rooms. (I don't think there was any on the Duelist Kingdom, but I'm adding them in! ^.^)
They walked into seperate rooms and changed into their swimsuits. Rachel opened the door to her room and went to the mirrors. Rachel looked perfect in her swimsuit. She was wearing a light blue tankini with surf shorts. Kim shortly came to the mirrors. She was sporting a tankini like Rachel, but hers was pink and she didn't bother with surf shorts.
"I hope I don't kill myself," said Rachel as her and Kim walked back out to the beach, where Mako was waiting for them.
"Yeah," exagerated Kim. "I don't want to have to save you again."
"Hey!" yelled Mako as he ran up to the two girls. "Let's get into the water!"
They all raced down to the surf and climbed into its waves. After an hour or two, Mako managed to teach Rachel the basics of swimming and they went into to deeper water for fishing. When the day was over, Rachel had caught one measly fish, Kim had caught 3, and highly experienced Mako caught 6.
"Even though I only caught one fish, this was still fun!" said Rachel as they finally came out of the sea. The sky was now a bright orange as night creeped in closer.
"Well, I'll have to see you guys later," said Mako packing up his things.
"What? You're not going to eat with us?" said Rachel depressed.
"I can't," he said as he threw his bag over his shoulder. "I have a tournament to win."
"Hmph!" said Kim. "Don't you ever have any fun?"
"I just did," said Mako as he walked off leaving Kim and Rachel to eat all of the fish for themselves.
"Hey, put it this way," said Rachel with her mouth full. "We get to eat his fish!"
