Roses and Wine

Yugi ate the last piece of cabbage and sat back in his chair patting his stomach. “Oh, Glenn, that was THE best meal I've ever had!”
The other man licked his fingers clean. “Tell me about it! I'm telling you, Yugi, my grandmother made this all the time! My nana was an awesome cook!”
Yugi pushed his plate away from him. “Better than sex.”
Glenn and Yugi laughed. Glenn's face turned red with the force of his laughter.
“Yugi, you are too much! How's my cabbage better than sex?”
Yugi smiled. “It's just a saying, Glenn! I'm just kidding!”
Glenn chuckled. “Because I was about to say….how is sex with me is worse than this cabbage?”
“Oh, come on, Glenn. I love being with you!”
Glenn laughed. “I'm kidding, Yugi. I know what you mean.”
Glenn reached across the table and took Yugi's hand. “I really love you, Yugi. I'm glad you liked your dinner.”
“You're an awesome cook!”
Glenn stood up and took their plates. He kissed his lover and nuzzled his cheek. “I'll clean up here, Yugi. You go relax.”
“You sure?”
Glenn nodded. “Sure. Go ahead. You have that dueling tournament tomorrow.”
“Okay, then. If that's alright.”
“Go on, Yugi. Don't make me make you relax.”
“Alright! I'm going!”
Yugi slid off the chair and returned to the living room. He sat on the couch and laid his cards out on the coffee table. “Hmm…Dark Magician…definitely….Hmm…Giant Soldier of Stone has a good defense.”
A knock on the door broke his concentration. The duelist swallowed hard as he looked at the door. Outside, the ran tapped against the windows. The lightening illuminated the trees outside.
Yugi put down his cards and walked slowly towards the door. He grabbed a knife that he kept by the door in case Yami were to appear before him unexpectedly.
He opened the door slowly and replaced the knife on the table. “Hello?”
Three cops stood at the door. “Mr. Motou? We need to speak to you. Could we come in?”
“Talk to me about what?”
“We have some questions to ask you regarding Mr.Yami Motou.”
Yugi swallowed hard and his face turned pale. `Yami, what did you do now?'
Yugi stepped aside and allowed the police to enter. Glenn stepped out of the kitchen.
“Yugi, is everything okay?” Glenn asked as he joined Yugi in the living room.
“Mr. Motou, we need to discuss Yami Motou. Do you know where he is right now?”
Yugi swallowed hard. “What did he do?”
“He's charged with rape and attempted rape of a minor, murder and attempted murder.”
Yugi held onto Glenn's hand tightly. “Oh no….”
“That's awful!” Glenn said as he sat beside Yugi.
“Do you know of his whereabouts? Do you know of any way to contact him?”
Yugi lowered his head. Yami had severed the mindlink with him over the past few years. Every now and again he could feel the pharaoh tapping into his memories and his mind, but it was nothing more than a passing sensation and then it would disappear.
Yami had not came to the Game Shop at all…except for when he assumed Seto's body and beat Glenn.
“Mr. Motou, please understand that any information you give us will be held in confidence. We will not disclose anything without your permission. Please tell us where we can find Yami Motou.”
Yugi bit his lip and shifted closer to his lover.
Glenn looked up at the policemen. “Gentlemen, please understand that Yugi had a bad relationship with him. There's bad blood between them right now. We haven't seen Yami in a long time. As for his current location, I don't know where he is.”
“Does he ever come here?”
“No. He hasn't come here in a long time.”
“He is Yugi Motou's twin?”
Glenn looked at Yugi. “Yeah, pretty much. They look exactly alike, except Yugi is shorter.”
“Neither of you have no idea where to find Yami Motou now?”
Yugi looked up at the policemen. “No, I'm sorry. I can't help you. I…I don't know where he is.”
The men shook their heads in dismay. “Okay. We'll have to put a APB out for him. Can you give a description of him?”
Yugi held Glenn's hand tightly. “Yami is 5'6…tri-colored hair like mine…..purple eyes….and he is sometimes called `pharaoh.'”
The police made their notes. “If you hear from him or see him, please contact the 8th district police station.”
“I will,” Yugi nodded.
Glenn lead the police out of the door and turned back to Yugi. “Yugi, are you okay?”
Yugi swallowed hard. “I don't think so, Glenn. I think I need to lay down for a bit.”
Yugi turned sadly and climbed the steps slowly, his tears falling onto the stairs. `My dark…..what have you done?'
*************************
Aten placed the dishes in the sink as Miranda stood beside him.
“Aten, I'll take care of dishes. You go rest.”
“You sure? I feel bad letting the dishes go.”
“Go on,” Robbie said, giving Aten a kiss. “Go bond with dad.”
Aten returned to the couch and sat beside Daniel.
“So, Aten….are you settled in upstairs?”
Aten nodded. “Yes. I have my statues and everything where I want them. I can't wait until my studio is finished! I'm going to move my statues and my little altar into the room.”
“Altar?”
Aten nodded. “I have a statues of Ra, Isis, Osiris, and Anubis. I also burn incense and light candles when I pray.”
“So this means you won't be joining us for church on Sundays?”
“Umm…Robbie and I talked it over. He can go to church and I can just do my own offerings. I hope that's okay with you.”
Daniel shrugged. “That's fine with me, Aten. You're always welcome to come with us whenever you want.”
“Thank you. I..I really appreciate you letting me move in, Mr. Morgan.”
“Aten, call me Daniel….or dad.”
Aten gave the man a little smile. “Okay….Dad.”
The Egyptian winced and leaned forward slightly. “Ow,” the teen whimpered.
“Aten, are you okay?”
Aten nodded. “Yes…..I'm fine….the doctors can't find a donor…..”
“Donor?”
“I need a heart transplant….and they can't find a donor for me.” Aten gripped onto Daniel's hand. “Don't let go….dad.”
Daniel held the teen's hand. “Do we need to call the Ambulance?”
“No….it's going….” Aten fell back on the couch exhausted. “Ow…..damn…..that hurt.”
Daniel kept holding Aten's hand. “Don't worry, son. The worst is over.”
Aten smiled a tiny bit at the man. “I….wish I could believe that.”
“You'll be fine, son. The doctors will take good care of you. You'll show them all.”
Aten chuckled. “Yeah…let's go with that.”
A knock on the door sounded and Aten turned his head towards the door. “Probably my mother coming to make sure I ate my vegetables.”
Daniel walked to the door and saw three policemen standing at the door. “Can I help you, gentlemen?”
“Is Aten Ishtar in? We need to speak with him.”
“What for?”
“We need to talk to him about Mr. Yami Motou.”
Aten's ears perked up. “What?”
The Egyptian stood up and walked to the door. “I have nothing to say about him!”
“Mr. Ishtar, we need to speak with you. This is a difficult time for you, we do understand. But you can save lives
if you speak with us.”
Aten's brown and purple eyes switched between the cops suspiciously. “Come in.”
The police came in. “We won't take up much of your time.”
Daniel retreated to the kitchen to give Aten his privacy.
Aten sat down, rubbing his chest and still wincing from the stiff feeling in his chest. “Sorry about this. My chest is killing me tonight. What do you want to know?”
“Your friend brought the videotape into the station.”
“Yes, he told me.”
“Tell us about Yami Motou if you know him.”
Aten lowered his head. “There's much to say. He….He's a monster. He used to be so kind. He would bounce me on his knee…he'd play with me. But…as my sister and I grew older, he became meaner. He became cruel…until one day he tried to kill my sister.”
“Half-sister, the girl said.”
Aten nodded. “Yes. We share the same mother, but we were fathered by two different men. Yami tried to kill my sister….and then tried to kill me.”
“What did he try to do to your sister?”
“He tried to stab her and burn her alive in a house fire.” Aten sniffled. “We lost everything in the fire…I was lucky to have saved my monkey doll, a favorite childhood toy. Aria and I had no home…..all of our toys were destroyed. But we weren't killed.”
The man wrote Aten's words in a notepad. “Did he give a reason why he wanted to kill you?”
“He just said we posed a threat. I'm not a threat to anyone. I don't like to see people hurt…especially tiny children. They can't defend themselves, you know.”
//Stop struggling, you little brat!// a voice echoed in Aten's mind.
“Did Yami Motou ever….touch you in an inappropriate manner?”
Aten lowered his head and folded his arms against his chest. He bit his lip and crossed his legs in thought. He nodded silently. “Yes.”
“How long ago was that?”
“About…three years ago. I was twelve.”
“Not recently, though.”
Aten shook his head. “If Robbie hadn't been there, I couldn't have defended myself. I always freeze around him.”
“I needed to know. If he did…..do something inappropriate, we could have taken DNA samples.”
Aten sighed. “The evidence has been long washed away, sirs. With plenty of hot water and soap.”
“Do you know of his whereabouts?”
Aten shook his head. “You can't go where he is. It's where no one can reach him.”
“We can reach him, Mr. Ishtar. We're going after him if you'll tell us where he lives.”
“You can't find him. Search for eternity, you won't find him anywhere.”
The men exchanged glances. “Mr. Ishtar, other people are in danger from the menace. You have to help us. We know it's not easy, but you have to help us.”
Aten sighed. “I want to help you. I really do, but there's nothing I can do. I was lucky to get away from him the last time. I can't go back and lure him out again.”
“Mr. Ishtar, if you can lure him out, we can protect you before he does anything to do.”
Aten shook his head. “No. I can't. I am sorry. I do not know where he is this very second.”
“Mr. Ishtar, can you tell us anything out about this man?”
Aten saw Robbie peek his head out of the kitchen. “No. I can't tell you anymore. I'm sorry.”
“We're here to serve the public, Mr. Ishtar. If you remember anything, please contact the 8th district precinct.”
Aten nodded. “I will.”
Aten watched the police leave and heaved with a heavy sigh. He felt a pair of hands grab his shoulders and he let out a loud shriek. He immediately kneeled down and wrapped his arms over his head. “No, don't!”
Robbie stepped back. “Aten, it's only me.”
The Egyptian turned around slowly and looked up. “Oh….Robbie. Sorry. Don't sneak up on me like that.”
“You okay?”
Aten felt his stomach tighten and twist with old memories that were bubbling to the surface. “I…I don't feel well. I'm going to bed. Goodnight.”
Aten kissed Robbie quickly on the cheek and ran up the steps. He ran into the bathroom and tore off his clothes. He turned the water on the highest setting and jumped into the shower. The scorching water slammed onto his skin, turning it red from the intense heat.
The soap he used couldn't seem to wipe off the old feelings of Yami and Charlie off of him.
“The dirt won't come off…..won't come off….still dirty….dirty…..so dirty….so wrong…..so bad…..so…sick.”
Aten rinsed the soap off and scrubbed his skin until it turned more red. When he was done he dried himself and ran quickly into Robbie's room naked. He shut the door and ran into the bed. He threw the covers on top of him and hid.
“They won't find me….they won't find me…I'm safe. I'm safe. I'm safe. Yami won't find me.”
The Egyptian trembled under the covers.
“Aten?” a tiny voice whispered from the doorway. “Love?”
Aten panted heavily under the covers. “Wobbie?”
Aten heard Robbie's footsteps approach the bed. “Don't wook at me, Wobbie.”
“Why not?”
“Betaws….you no wan to see me.”
Robbie sat at the edge of the bed and Aten felt a soft hand pet his side. The gentle hand stroked him through the comforter. “It's okay, Aten. I won't look if you don't want me to,” Robbie said calmly.
Robbie felt the form in the fetal position relax slightly. “Did those people say something, Aten?”
“Wobbie…..are they gone?”
“They're gone, Aten. And I'll keep them away from you. I'll take good care of you.”
Robbie saw a hand emerge from under the covers and pull down the sheets. A purple eye peeked out from the covers.
“Really?”
Robbie smiled and nodded. “Hey, I'll always take good care of you. I love you, remember?”
Aten shifted over. “Come lay down.”
Robbie laid beside Aten and let the Egyptian cuddle next to him. Robbie wrapped his arm around Aten and laid there silently as the Egyptian trembled.
Robbie pet the white and blond hair spread over his chest and the pillow beside him.
The brown and purple eyes glazed over and slowly closed. Aten's arm draped over Robbie.
Robbie kissed Aten's forehead. “My angel…Poor Aten.”
*************************
Yugi walked into the purple haze of the Shadow Realm. The Celtic Guardian arrived in front of Yugi and kneeled before him.
“Hello, Celtic,” Yugi said with a smile.
“My Little Master, you have come. It is surely rare to see you here.”
“I need to speak with Yami. Have you seen him?”
The tall elf stood and nodded. “Yes, but I dare not go near his territory. It is dangerous in the Shadow Badlands. Evil lives there.”
Yugi's eyes widened. “Evil? Who is the evil in the Badlands?”
“We Duel Monsters dare not speak his name. Pharaoh Yami dwells within the boarders of the Badlands, but he is not the evil of which I speak.”
“Who is the evil in the Badlands?”
The elf lowered his head. “We dare not speak his name.”
Yugi walked past the Celtic Guardian. “I want to see Yami….I don't care where he is living.”
“Does your partner know you are here?”
“He's sleeping. He always goes to bed early. He has to go to work tomorrow.”
Celtic lead Yugi towards the badlands. He stopped at the boarder. “There is Pharaoh Yami's temple in the distance.”
“Where is this evil, Celtic?”
The elf pointed to the sky.
“In the Castle of Dark Illusions?”
“That is where he was. He moves…and returns to that ominous, demonic fortress of his.”
“But who is it?”
Celtic turned and walked away. “We dare not speak his name.”
Yugi groaned as his monster walked away. “Oh well, I can take Yami on myself.”
Yugi walked towards the temple angrily. He climbed the steps. “This looks a lot like the temple that Odion used in his duel during Battle City.”
Yugi arrived in a large room as he walked through the doorway. “Hello? Yami?”
The short duelist looked to the right and saw a post with ropes curled around it. He saw an altar and walked towards it slowly. Yugi looked at the stone which had been blood stained along the edges. Chains still dangled from the four corners of the altar.
The Light touched the stone. “It's dry.”
“Of course its dry….that blood was spilled ten years ago.”
Yugi spun around and saw Yami standing behind him.
“Hello, Yugi. It has been too long since I have seen you. Let me look at you. Hmm….you still look sexy as ever.”
Yugi narrowed his eyes. “And you still look like the same asshole who tried to hurt my friends! What's this about rape and attempted rape and murder? What's the big idea?”
Yami chuckled. “Yugi, I have no idea what you are talking about.”
“Who did you rape, Yami?”
Yami shrugged. “I was framed.”
“Yeah, right! That's not what I heard! Tell me what you've been doing!”
“I've been carrying on without my Light.”
Yugi slapped Yami's hand away. “Don't give me that, Yami! Who did you hurt?”
Yami shrugged and backed away. “You act like this is a big deal.”
“Yami, this IS a big deal! What did you do?”
“I am going to win you back, Yugi.”
Yugi walked away from Yami. “Not likely. With all the crap you've pulled, how can I take you back?”
“What does that….that….little shit have to offer you that I can't?”
Yugi pointed his finger at Yami. “LEAVE GLENN OUT OF THIS! I LOVE HIM NOW! GET. OVER. IT!”
“But you are my Light. The Light is nothing without the Dark…and the Dark…is nothing without the Light.”
“Yami, you may be my Dark Side, but I can't see myself capable of such disregard for other people's lives!”
“But I love you and that is why I did all this. I'm going to get you back! I've tried to erase Glenn from the picture--.”
“Yes, and you made him deaf in one ear, you asshole! You know, I love Glenn! He's kind…he's supportive…and he doesn't try to kill Aten and Aria every time he sees them! He loves me, he cooks, he cleans! And he is a much better lover than you ever were! He doesn't try to take his pleasure all the time! All you did was lay there when I made love to you! You didn't even raise a hand to me while we were making love! I always had to touch you, but you never gave me the simple return of physical pleasure! You took it!”
“Of course I touched you, Yugi.”
Yugi narrowed his eyes. “Pinning me to the bed by my wrists and taking me because I wouldn't have sex with you is not physical pleasure and I didn't enjoy it!”
“I tried to show you love, Yugi, but you pushed me away!”
“How did I push you away, Yami? You changed. You went from Roses and Wine to Heartache and Tears. Everything was so perfect in our lives until you became preoccupied with eliminating Aria and Aten. And then you hurt my friends….and that I can't forgive.”
Yami narrowed his eyes and growled at Yugi. “You wouldn't even give me a chance!”
“Not when you hurt my friends! Yami, I'm asking you to please stop this! I'm happy now. And if you really love me, you'd understand that. Let me go.”
“Never.”
“I just want to live my life with Glenn.”
“Impossible.”
“Yami, I don't want anyone hurt anymore.”
“Tough.”
“Please just let me be happy.”
“For you to be happy, you need me. A Light is incomplete without the Dark.”
Yugi sighed. “Yami, please….I want the murders and the violence to stop, Yami.”
“There's only one way for the pain to stop, Yugi.”
“What is that?”
Yami crossed his arms. “Take me back.”
Yugi turned away. “Goodbye, Yami.”
Yugi walked towards the exit.
“Yugi….I do love you. I will have you back.”
Yugi turned around. “Then pull the Millennium Rod out of your ass and stop acting like an asshole! We're through, Yami. Goodbye.”
Yami narrowed his eyes as Yugi left. “I WILL have you back…”
