Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Kaiba Brothers ❯ To Never Leave... ( Chapter 9 )
Blue eyes searched the town quietly. Brown hair ruffled in the wind. The man was searching for one certain boy. He hadn't seen the boy in years, but something had called him back. He had been in Egypt, with the boy next to him, for a long time. The boy next to him had bleached blonde hair and lavander eyes. He watched the man with quiet eyes. "Seth?" He whispered.
The man looked down. "What is it, Malik?"
Malik rolled his eyes. "Do you actually know where you're going?" He asked dryly. Seth was a strange man, and Malik was often unsure of what to say or do around him. Although Seth never lost his temper, his resembalance to one of the owners of the three God Cards was unnerving to Malik.
Seth sighed. "It has been many years since I traveled to Domino, Malik. I'm not quite certain where I should go to find my friend..."
"If you'd tell me who your friend was..." Malik started.
"Malik!" The two turned to see a white-haired boy running toward them. The boy slowed when he saw Seth. "Seto?" He looked confused.
A mirror of himself appeared next to the boy, his eyes narrowed. "Who are you?" He asked darkly.
"Baku!" The first boy complained.
Seth smiled faintly. "Bakura. How pleasant." He nodded to the boy. "I am Seth, not Seto, although I'd be much abliged if you could tell me where he might be."
"That's who you're looking for!" Malik made a face at the man. "If you'd told me..."
"You would have been more lost than myself." Seth finished. "Malik, I know Seto better than you, and even I cannot find him. I can think of only one living person who might, but I really have no clue where Mokuba might be, and he doesn't know me anyway."
Malik made a face. "Ra, but I hate it when you're right." He grumbled.
"I know that." Seth sighed and looked at the white-haired boy and man. "Well?"
"I am Bakura Ryou." The boy said with a smile. "I guess you already know Baku, though I don't know how..." Ryou made a face at his darker half. "And Seto would probably be at Kaiba Corp. right now."
Seth frowned. "He still goes there?"
"He's the CEO." Malik mumbled. "He kinda has to."
"Why?" Bakura narrowed his eyes at Seth even more.
Seth blinked. "Some bad things happened there. I didn't think he'd ever want to go back, although, I guess his actions make sense..." He sighed. "He'd probably tell himself it's what Gozaburo would have wanted..."
"Gozaburo?" Ryou made a face. "That was Seto's adopted father. I heard about his death when I moved here. He fell out one of the windows, didn't he?" He asked the man.
Seth sighed. "If that is the story that they've got going around, I'll not tell you differently." He looked at Malik. "We'll go to Kaiba Corp. first. You'll go in, neh?" He asked the boy.
"Hai..." Malik sighed, then looked at Ryou. Bakura had gone back into the Ring once he was sure Seth posed as no threat to his hikari. "Ryou, how do we get to Kaiba Corp?"
Ryou smiled. "Come on!" The two followed him into the town.
~~^**^~~
Seto sat on the bed, Noa still in his arms. "Kami-sama..." Seto whispered, hugging Noa tightly. "I don't want to lose you."
"You won't. Seto-chan, I'll never leave you. I know how you feel about that sort of thing now. I guess I did before, but not as well." He whispered.
Seto leaned back on his bed, bringing Noa with him. The scarab fell out from under his shirt and Noa reached out to pick it up. He drew his hand back quickly after touching it. "What's wrong?" Seto asked, concerned.
"That thing tingles!" Noa complained. "It did before, and it does now!"
Seto made a face. "Maybe it doesn't like you." He pointed out.
"That's mean." Noa grumbled, giving the scarab a dirty look.
"Maybe the tingling is a good thing." Seto suggested.
"Bah. I still think is means no good for me." Noa complained.
Seto grinned. "Whatever."
The phone rung downstairs, and next to them. Seto reached for it, but Noa grabbed his hand and forced him into another kiss. //Ignore it. One of the others can get it.\\ He ordered.
Seto sighed and let his hand travel over Noa's back. /Hai...\
Someone downstairs picked up the phone. There was a little silent talking, then Mokuba called up the stairs. "Oniisan, it's for you!"
Noa stopped Seto from answering it again. "Tell them to call back!" Noa called back down.
Seto glared at Noa. "What if it's important?" He asked in annoyance.
"You are on vacation." Noa pointed out, poking Seto's chest.
"It's Ishtar Malik!" Mokuba called back.
Seto groaned. "Noa-chan, I need to answer this." He mumbled. Noa sighed and let go of his hand. Seto grabbed the phone. "Make it quick, Ishtar." He growled.
"I'd love to, but I'm not the one who needs to talk to you. Does the name Seth ring a bell?"Malik grumbled.
Seto sat up quickly, his eyes wide. "Seth?!" He asked, wanting to make sure he'd heard right.
Noa growled. "Seto-chan!"
Seto sighed. "I'm sorry, Noa-chan. Seth is an old friend of mine that's been gone for a while." He explained to the annoyed ghost.
"I'll be on the roof when you remember I exist." Noa grumbled before walking from the room.
"Noa-chan!" Seto sighed. "Gomen, Ishtar. Could you put Seth on?"
Malik sighed. "He's not actually here with me. He wants to talk at your house..."
/Noa-chan?\ Seto called through their connection.
//Leave me alone!\\ Noa returned.
Seto sighed. "Where are you? I'll come pick you up."
"Kaiba Corp." Malik replied calmly.
"Fifteen minutes." Seto said quickly before hanging up. He stood and walked to his door. The door to the roof was open. "Noa! Get back in here!" He shouted.
"Fuck you!" Noa shouted back.
"Noa!" Seto sighed. /I'm going out. I'll be back in about half-an-hour. Try and calm down by then, okay?\ He begged.
"Go! I don't care what you do, whore!" Noa shouted back.
Seto flinched, then wandered downstairs. The others stood in the living room, watching him. "I wish he'd stop using that against me." He mumbled before looking up at Sekio. "I need to go back to Kaiba Corp, to pick up a couple friends. You wanna go back to work?" He asked softly.
"I'll stay here, if you don't mind." Sekio said softly.
Seto shrugged. "Whatever."
"I'd like to come." Yami cut in.
"Yami..." Yuugi looked up at him.
"Stay here, aibou. I'll be back before you know it." Yami said as Seto called one of his limos.
"Let's go." Seto mumbled, his voice tight. Yami nodded and followed him out.
~~^**^~~
"So, he's coming to pick us up, right?" Seth asked for what must have been the tenth time in the past twelve minutes.
"Seth, stop!" Malik cried suddenly. "You're driving me nuts! I swear you weren't this bad on the plane!!"
Seth smiled sheepishly. "Gomen..." He mumbled.
A limo drove up to them and Seto got out, Yami behind him. Seto looked tired and Yami looked over the group quietly. Yami gaped at Seth. "Who..." He started.
Seth frowned at Seto and stepped forward to place a hand on his look-alike's shoulder. "Seto, what is it?" He asked softly. In response, Seto burst into tears and hid his face in Seth's chest. Seth seemed shocked for a second, then enfolded Seto in a hug. "Hush, little one..." He mumbled.
Ryou and Malik looked at Yami in shock. Yami sighed. "He and a friend got into a fight before we left. It wasn't pretty."
"This Noa person, I assume?" Malik asked calmly.
Seth frowned as Seto's sobs started anew at the mention of Noa. "Seto, talk to me." He ordered the boy, forcing Seto back so he could look at him. "Who is Noa?" Seto shook his head sadly. "Seto..." Seto shook his head again. "Yagami Seto, either you tell me who this boy is or I'm going back to Egypt." He threatened.
Seto stiffened and his eyes widened. "You can't..." He whispered.
Seth dropped his hands from Seto's shoulders and crossed his arms. "Yes, I can."
"Goza-san's son..." Seto mumbled.
Seth frowned. "Gozaburo had a son?"
"Hai. Remember the room I used to escape through the window of?" Seth nodded. "That was Noa's old room. Noa died not very long before Goza-san adopted us." Seto explained. His eyes were dry now and he looked a little calmer.
"What was this fight about?" Seth asked.
Seto shook his head quickly. Seth looked at Yami for an explaination. "I think it had to do with Malik's call. They were, ah, kinda busy..." Yami mumbled, glancing over at the other two boys with them.
Malik made a face. "Can we please go, Pharaoh?" He asked darkly. "I need to call oneesan."
Yami grinned. "Of course. Ryou, are you coming with?"
"I am." Bakura appeared next to his hikari.
Seto groaned. "Won't everyone just stay out of my business?" He asked darkly.
"Not when the famous Kaiba Seto breaks down into tears in front of our very eyes and then won't give us an explaination we can understand." Bakura returned sharply.
"Well, I understood it, but I've known him for longer." Seth pointed out. "Are we going?"
"Hai." Seto broke in before anyone else could talk. "Ishtar, you can use my car phone. Bakura, if Ryou doesn't want to come, you're staying here. Ryou, please don't come. Yami, you're in the way of the car."
Seth chuckled as Yami grumbled an Egyptian curse and got in, Malik following him. Seto gave Bakura a dirty look. Bakura made a face, then smiled evily. "What do you say, Ryou? Want a ride in a limo?"
"Ass." Seto growled before getting in. Seth smiled and got in after him. Bakura and Ryou got in quietly after Seth. "The mansion." Seto told the driver before sitting back between Seth and Yami.
"You're still living at the mansion?" Seth asked.
"Hai. Ototo-chan has my old room. I took Goza-san's. Ototo-chan thought I was crazy, but I told him it was because there was no way I was sleeping in his room, and he'd kinda taken mine..." Seto shrugged.
Seth chuckled again. "I can see that." He hugged Seto around the CEO's shoulders. "You feeling better now?"
"I'd feel perfect if a certain tomb robber wasn't staring at me." Seto growled, meeting Bakura's gaze.
"Maybe a certain tomb robber wouldn't be staring at you if you'd act like your usual annoying self." Bakura returned.
"Enough, you two." Yami looked at Bakura. "Either go in the Ring, or shut up." He looked at Seto. "And you need to calm down. I've seen enough outbursts from you to last me another century."
Seto stuck his tounge out and curled up against Seth. Bakura disappeared into the Ring, obviously not about to trust his mouth around the CEO and Pharoah at the same time.
Malik sighed. "Kaiba, I need your phone..." He mumbled.
"Gomen..." Seto hit a button above his head. A compartment opened and he pulled out a phone, which he then tossed to Malik.
"Arigatou." Malik mumbled as Seto pushed the compartment closed.
"Sure..." Seto grinned at Ryou's face. "What?" He asked the boy.
"That's just cool..." Ryou mumbled.
Seto chuckled. "Glad you like." Ryou just nodded and they quieted while Malik spoke on his phone.
~~^**^~~
"He still on the roof?" Seto asked the three when they all met in the hallway.
Mokuba nodded. "He's being really rude..." He stopped when he saw Seth.
Seto smiled. "This is Seth." He pointed to the man. "Seth, this is Mokuba, who you know, then Sekio, who you should remember, and Yuugi." Seth nodded as Seto pointed to each. "I'll be on the roof..." Seto hurried away.
"I'm gonna follow him." Seth said before following the CEO at a slower pace.
Mokuba looked at the other three who had been with Seto. "Well?" He asked.
Yami shrugged while the other two shook their heads. No one knew the connection between the two.
"Leave me alone, Seto!" Noa shouted from the roof.
"Would you stop being such an ass!" Seto shouted back.
"I'll be whatever I want to be!" Noa shouted.
"Obviously!" Seto's voice was tight again.
"Keep the hell away from me, you dirty whore!" Noa cried.
"Stop calling me a whore, Noa!" Seto cried. His voice sounded hurt.
"Kami-sama..." Mokuba groaned, then looked at the group. "Shall we go to the living room? I'm afraid we can hear them anywhere in the mansion, but at least we'll be comfortable in the living room." He attempted a smile.
"Bastard! Whore! Murderer! They're all you, Kaiba Seto!" Noa shot back.
"At least I was wanted!" Seto shouted.
"And it's your fault they're dead! Both of them!" Noa returned.
"It's not! Trigne was shot!"
"If you hadn't loved him, he wouldn't have been shot!"
"Why do you say that?"
"Because I've decided to!"
"Stop shouting lies at the top of your lungs!"
"Alright! How about I tell them all about how you were raped, instead!"
The whole house grew silent and Mokuba paled. "I knew it..." He whispered sadly.
"That's enough, Kaiba Noa. You're just like your father, an asshole who doesn't know when he's gone too far." Seth's voice carried easily, but so did Seto's sobs.
"What do you know about my father, you bastard?" Noa hissed.
"He was there, Noa!" Seto shouted suddenly. "Seth left after I killed your Kami-damned father! He left when he knew I wouldn't kill myself! He actually cared! I know who I can and can't trust! Get out of my house!"
"Gladly!" Noa stormed down the stairs.
Mokuba ran out and grabbed his arm, stopping him. "Noa-niisan, please..." He whispered. "You can't go..."
"Why not? The ass on the roof sure as hell doesn't want me around." Noa hissed.
"Oniisan doesn't know what he's saying!" Mokuba cried. "You're mad at each other for some reason, and leaving won't solve anything!" He sighed. "And you promised..."
Noa hung his head. "You're right... Gomen na, Moku-kun..." He mumbled. Mokuba smiled and hugged Noa quietly.
On the roof, Seth's hand covered Seto's. In the CEO's hand was the scarab. He had attempted to throw it off the roof, but Seth had stopped him. "Seto, don't throw that away. It's too important. Noa cares for you, he really does, but you're both hurting from memories that are being stirred up from finally meeting, including your past lives. If you throw that little pendant away, you'll lose your only chance. Your last chance. I couldn't stop Trigne's death, and there was little I could have done about Gozaburo's death, but I'm not letting you throw your life away, not again." Seth whispered.
Seto lowered his hand, then turned to sob into Seth's chest. ~I guess my secret's out, neh?~ He asked his old friend in his mind.
~Does it matter?~ Seth asked kindly in return.
/Noa-chan?\ Seto tested the other link he had. Noa gave no response, but Seto knew he'd heard him. /Gomen... Don't go. You can't go. I'll jump off this roof if you go.\
Noa walked back out onto the roof. The others had followed him quietly. "Seto-chan?" He whispered.
Seto pulled away from Seth and the two met halfway to hug desperately. "Never leave." Seto pleaded.
"Never." Noa promised.
Seth and Mokuba shared a smile. Between the two of them, they had stopped tragety in it tracks. Behind Mokuba, the others smiled. Everyone there made a mental promise to themselves to help see this relationship through, if only because both boys needed it.

~~A/N: WOW! That was a sappy ending... And, no, this fic isn't over QUITE yet...
A small plea to my readers: I don't think the title(Kaiba Brothers) really fits the fic anymore. As Seto's Pain evolved, it carried KB to a whole new level, and one can, if they look, find the differences between this chapter and it's preceders. I would like to try redoing KB entirely, but that would take up time I REALLY don't have... -_-* So, I would like to, at least, change the title, but I suck with titles and am at a loss for this one! Any ideas will be VERY welcome!!! Arigatou!! ^_~
DISCLAIMER: Yup. You guessed it. I don't own Yu-Gi-Ou! So sorry... I want me to too...
