Yugi Moutho (spelling again?) bent over and looked in the pot that hung over the hearth. He started to stir the crimson (Me: Yami eyes color! =)) broth with a ladle.
‘It should not be so red,’ he thought. ’I used too many tomatoes.’
The stew bubbled and some of it went over the top. Yugi jumped back before the stew got on his clothes. The stew that had went over the top had spilt onto the floor. It reminded Yugi of blood. Like the blood that was splattered across his mothers portrait as she was being murdered. His grandfather tried to rub away the blood of the portraits face, but his actions only made the face from the painting disappear. Yugi had lived with his grandfather since he was 12 years old. His father had passed away after a accident. Him and his mother had gone to lived with his grandfather. But, sadly, his mother was murdered when he was 13. So now he lived with his grandfather. he heard heavy foot steps.
‘Grandfather!’ he realized, his heart ran faster. ’He’s back from the smithy, and I’m not wearing what he told me to wear!’
He took out a necklace or garlic bulbs and hung it around his neck. As soon as he had removed his hands from the necklace his grandfather came in. (Me: sadly, because I am lazy, will NOT say what grandfather looks like…sorry me is lazy @__@)
Yugi hurried over to him and put his arms around his waist, giving him a hug. “Welcome home,” He said.
He smiled at him. “Well, the horse had been shod and hmm something smells good.”
Yugi turned and went over to the heather. ‘How can he smell anything with this garlic around both our necks?’ he thought.
“I made stew for supper,” he told his grandfather.
She slowly carried the pot to the study oak table.
“yum, my favorite.” he said, sitting down. Yugi smiled. No matter what he made, it was always his grandfathers favorite. Yugi had learned to cook from his mother. He do most of the cooking in the house. Most of the food that he used were things that they could made in the fields. She put the stew into a bowl for his grandfather and himself. He then sat down and looked at his grandfather. He was not eating and his shoulders were low.
“Grandfather, are you ok? You look tired.”
He gave a heavy sigh. “I’m afraid they found us.”
Yugi gasped. “No. You can’t mean-”
“I do, indeed.” He sighed. “the vampires have found us.”
Yugi closed his eyes and bit his lower lip. ‘Not again…’ he thought.
Ever since his mother had died, him and his grandfather had started to run away from vampires all their life. They moved every two or three years. It seemed that every time Yugi made a friend or felt at home, they had to move, again. They were right now living were Yugi was born. His grandfather seemed obsessed with this place. When they moved here Yugi had hoped this would be the last time to move, but yet again they had to move. And what about Anzu? The most truest friend he had ever had. (Yugi: o.o Me: heheheh =) er….well look at the vote down there for details one something…) He knew what him and his grandfather would do, they would leave at the creak of dawn, so that the vampires could not get to them. Yugi ate his stew in silence. He hated vampires, but grandfather was obsessed with them. Yugi sighed, “grandfather?”
Yugi’s grandfather looked up. “yes my boy?”
“Well, there is going to be a party next Saturday night at the Fear manor. And I’ve been invited-”
“Why would rich people like then invite you to a ball?” He asked. Yugi sighed. ’Why does he have to be so suspicious?’ he thought.
“I don’t know grandfather,” Yugi said pleasantly “Maybe they are the kind of people who don’t care about such thing. Please, may I go?”
“NO!” he yelled. He stood up and paced around the kitchen. “I have told you. You cannot go outside after dark-ever! Not for any
reason!”
Yugi jumped up from his seat, “But I’m sixteen now! I may be a little weak but I can still take care of myself!”
“I’m sorry but never at night.” Yugi’s grandfather said firmly.
Yugi felt tear strung her eyes. “But I have never went to a party!”
He (Grandfather) suddenly stopped and looked at Yugi with hate in his eyes. He pointed a finger at Yugi. “I forbid it!”
Yugi chocked down a sob and ran from the room. He went straight for his room and locked the door. Yugi leaded against the door, hugged his knees, and cried. He loved his grandfather so much, but, he wondered, is his love slowly killing him?
Later that night, Yugi sat on his bed looking at the invitation in his hands. In the moonlight that came in thought the window the golden letters on the envelope sparkled.
Miss Priscilla Fear requests the honor of your company at her winter ball.
Yugi had never met Miss Priscilla, but he had heard of her. He had heard that she had the best balls ever and that she was the most beautiful women in the whole town. He wished he could go. But still, why would she invite a poor boy to a fancy party? Yugi did not know and did not care!
‘If I went I could meet so many people. Why must Grandfather be like this?’ he thought. Looking out the window Yugi saw a bright star. He made a wish on it. “I wish that I would no longer be lonely. I wish I would meet someone who could take away my loneliness away.”
After making his wish he heard the clip-clop or horses’ hooves. She looked down out her window and into the alley that separated the houses. A black carriage in the alley come to a stop. A man jumped from the carriage, covered in a black cloak. The man calmed the horse, tied it to a post that was in the ground and walked to the front door of the house. Yugi frowned. This was very weird, no one came around this late at night. He walked away from the window and changed back into the clothes he had wore early today. Black leather pants, a leather blue sleeveless shirt and a black jacket. (Me: I don’t know what they wore back them @_@) Without a candle, Yugi walked out of his room and into the hall. He heard voices in grandfathers study. He gave himself a confused look and slowly walked to his grandfather study.
‘Who is he talking to in their? The man from the alley?’ he thought. He leaned right next to the door and could not hear anything. His curiously sadly got the best of him. He took a deep breath a slowly eased the door open only enough so that he could see who was inside. His Grandfather was sitting at his desk, with his head in his hands. His heart ached at the sight. Why was grandfather so sad? A fire was burning near grandfathers desk, but the guest did not remove his cloak or gloves. The man was seated in front of his grandfather. Yugi could not see his face, only the cloak and his back of his hair. He gave a soft gasp at the back of the guest’s hair. It was shaped similar to the back of his hair, the back of it that is, but it was sharper at the tips and the black color looked darker then Yugi’s. Yugi’s grandfather looked up. Yugi saw fear in his eyes.
“You must help me.” Yugi’s grandfather pleaded.
“I warned you of the dangers. Do not ask anything else of me,” the guest commanded. Even if the guest had been rude to his grandfather, Yugi could not help but fall for the guest deep voice. Yugi’s grandfather rubbed his face. “What if I build a house of iron? Iron is suppose to keep vampires away.”
The guest laughed, low, long, and purfect. Yugi felt odd after he heard the guest laughing. One side felt like he had a crush on this guest, but the other side felt anger for treating her grandfather like that. The laughing died soon. “An old wives’ tale.” the guest said.
“Iron will protect you as much of that silly garlic you wear around your neck.”
Yugi gasped again. This man believed in vampires!
His grandfather fingered the necklace, “Garlic keeps vampires away.”
The guest laughed again, “Believe that and your grandson will not see his seventeenth year.”
Fear raised in Yugi’s eyes. They were talking about him.
“Then I have no choice, I have to kill them all!” His grandfather declared.
“you make it sound easy” the guest mocked.
“its easy. two ways. Either put a stake thought their heart, or make them go into the sunlight. You can help me, you hate them as much as me.”
“I assure you I hate them more then you.” The man declared. The man stood and put a leather covered book on his grandfathers desk. “I know all I know about vampires from these written words. Maybe something in there will help.” The man turned around and looked straight at Yugi. Yugi gasped. This man looked just like him! Except for his eyes, which were crimson and sharp while his were violet and er not sharp. Also this mans hair was a bit different also. (Me: You get the idea and you properly know who it is by now…) The man looked right about his age. The man’s expression turned soft and have a small smile.
“And who do we have here?” He asked. Yugi took a breath a stepped in.
“Yugi Moutho, nice to meet you,” Yugi said. His grandfather stood up.
“Yugi, go to your room!” He ordered.
“no need now,” The man said. He started to look Yugi up and down. Yugi felt himself blush, he could not believe such a man was in his house. He was purfect. Oh how he wished they were together.
“I see your worry,” The man said. He took a step closer to Yugi. They were at least a inch away. Yugi gave a soft gasp. He was so close, and it felt so right. The man looked into his violet eyes.
“He is purfect and beautiful. They will take him, just as they took your wife.” the man said, without taking his eyes of Yugi.
